Sure, you can still find it, but you have to search really hard.
I know my business is not the norm. When you walk in my warehouse as a customer, there is roughly a 67% chance you will be greeted, and assisted by one of the owners.
I know a business like AT & T works a lot differently, and that getting a phone fixed by someone at the store is like trying to get the best table at a restaraunt by asking a busboy, or getting the penthouse suite at a hotel by tipping the valet (no offense intended to busboys and valets for the comparison to AT&T employees), but I thought I'd try it, and see what my options were. Here is what happened.
I walk into the store, and a lady asks how she may "help me". I tell her I have a problem with my phone, and she asks if I have signed in. I tell her no (cause I was the only customer in the store).
Now, at this point I can understand her confusion. There were no other customers, but there were 10-12 employees in there, so she easily may have thought corporate sent another employee to help out with all the "busyness".
So, she says "well, let's get you signed in so someone can assist you". She then proceeds to type in my info on a touchscreen computer so I can be put on a "list" of one.
Now, this is where my inability to be an intentional jerk to people keeps me from having fun, because the thought in my head at the time was, "hey, instead of you helping me put my name on a list, why don't you help me resolve the issue on the phone"
So, someone calls my name. I look around to make sure there are no other "Daniels" among the bustling crowd of one customer, realize he must be referring to me, and I head over. After 10 seconds of telling him the issue, he gives me a business card, with a number to call, and they will help me out.
Apparantly, the first lady was not qualified for the job of handing out a business card.
