We don't have a very exciting life. Maybe it is so exciting that I never have time to update. Not sure which one.
Things around here are always hectic it seems. It is certainly not me! I thought when Sarah and Mark went off to college things would slow down considerably, but evidently it wasn't hectic because of them either! That only leaves one person to blame the crazy pace of our life on, but I'll leave that to everyone else to figure out. It's not really his fault, I guess, being an elder and a chief of police and a dad and husband is quite a plateful for anyone to keep up with. Add to that teaching out of state several times a year and at Sam Houston several more times a year and you have our life! I am so lucky to be able to stay home so at least I can be free to do what ever comes next.
The kids are both in summer school and working this summer. We did manage to have a mini vacation all together at the beginning of summer. We started off with a visit to a great new steakhouse in Austin called Fogo de Chao. It was great food and a very intertaining place to go on top of that. Then on to San Antonio and Sea World. We came home through Burnet on a Sunday and worshiped with the church there and got to see many old friends and loved ones. It was a short but great trip. Mike and I are hoping to take another short trip, but it may have to wait till September. that is the first month that is not booked pretty solid. Maybe a long weekend on the motorcycle can be worked in before that!
We got new carpet down in our bedroom. What a pain! It did cause us to have to clean out all closets etc. That was a good thing, but sure a lot of work. It is amazing how much stuff is in one room. Especially when you have to move it all to other rooms for a couple of days. Glad it is done, and it looks really nice.
We will celebrate our 28th anniversary the 28th of this month! It seems like just yesterday. I really don't feel old enough to have been married that long. We are planning on helping the Jenkins celebrate their 60th on Saturday, so I guess we are really just starting out!
Hope everyone is having a great summer so far. I'll post again in about 6 months!
Your name was lit up! Happy thought. I enjoyed the catch-up on what's happening with you. I've found that no matter how slow I think a week will be, nature hates a void, and the days end up full of something or other. We're fine, but miss you and Mike regularly. Love ya'll!
Oh good! We will eb there too! Me and the kids that is....what is with our husbands having such a busy life? Hope to be at worship tonight. My medication is kicking this strep throat BIG TIME!!!
Yes! Let's go to lunch. Let me know what time yall are getting here. I'll look for the King's and Hellinger's tonight. Jess will HATE that he missed them. He is in a gospel meeting in West Columnbia
Hi, Sandy. Letha King here. Just found your entry (from somebody else's -- don't remember whose it was). Maybe I can keep up with my kids there through you; however, it looks like you and Mike are as busy or moreso than Warren and debi. Love you, Letha
Thanks soooooo much for having me! :) The meeting was so encouraging and helpful. We really appreciate the hospitality and kindness you extended to us all. Hope you and Mr. Gentry have a grrrrrrreat week!
it would be wonderful if we could! We don't find out where we'll be going until January though. And it also depends on what branch he gets...I sure hope so though! It would be nice to go to church with yall :)
Hi Mrs. Gentry! Thank you for letting all of us stay in your home this past weekend. I had a lot of fun and am glad I had the opportunity to meet Sarah and Mark's lovely parents. Hope you're having a good week :)
The ingredients for the cinnamon buns are:
-1 pkg of 24 regular size frozen dinner rolls
-1 box 3.5 oz size butterscotch cook and serve pudding
-1/2 c. brown sugar
-1/2 c. white sugar
-1 teaspoon cinnamon
-1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
-1/2 c. raisins (optional)
-1 stick melted butter
The instructions are:
-The night before: Grease a 9x13 pan with butter (not butter from above). If using them, spread the nuts and/or raisins on the bottom of the pan. Arrange the rolls (still frozen) in a single layer on top of nuts/raisins. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the rolls. Mix together the white sugar, pudding mix, and cinnamon. Sprinkle on top of the brown sugar. Melt the butter and drizzle over the top of the rolls. Cover with foil and leave on counter.
-The next morning: Bake without foil on 350* for 30 minutes. Turn rolls out of the pan immediately and serve warm.
i forgot to make you a ringtone!! dont worry! i will soon! im thinking i might have to make a day trip home soon to VOTE!! im not almost out of time am i?
Thanks to sarah for her posting efforts on my behalf.
We had a great Thanksgiving. We had planned to be out of town and bypass surgery (of a friend) stopped that, so we just stayed around here and I cooked. It was a really nice, low key day with all four of us together. That doesn't happen much any more. Usually if we are all together we are rushing here and there and really busy. Sarah (who is now an AGGIE) and Mark were here the whole weekend and we had a lot of fun with them.
As mentioned above Sarah found out she was accepted to A&M right before she came home for the holiday. We are so proud of her. She is excited about going to school, maybe for the first time in her life!
Mark had mri on both knees yesterday. He still has trouble with both of them. We are really hoping for a solution for him soon. He tries to have a good attitude about it, but I know it is frustrating.
In more fun news...I got my xmas present early. It is a long story, but let's just say Mark destroyed yet another phone, and since Mike was going to surprise me with an iphone, I got it early so Mark could have my old one. (I later realized that sarah had one he could have used - DUH -) But anyway, I got mine yesterday. It is possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen. It is also easier to use than most phones...surprising. I'm not the best with electronics, but this is even easy for me.
This is pretty long. I should be good for at least a few months.
can you call me when you are up this morning and wake me up? i'll set my alarm but im good at turning that off in my sleep. i need to get up and get stuff done and im just now getting to bed. shanks! ;)
mom! you know the chinese crested dogs that you *love* so much?! well there was one at work today that weighed... get ready, 50 POUNDS!! his name was Goliath and he was the grossest thing i have ever seen.
Hi Everyone! This is Sarah posting for her mom who NEVER posts. So I have decided to update everyone.
Mom and Dad have been busy with work, church, and doing all kinds of fun things now that the kids are gone. They like to go to fancy restaurants to eat with their friends and throw fun parties every night. They are also still enjoying their motorcycle, new jeep, AND new Durango. Oh, and the new television and furniture. (Dad says they can have nice things now that Mark isn't around to break everything.) They like to stay up late and sleep in while their children slave away at college getting their education and earning money at their jobs.
For Thanksgiving we all stayed home together and had a delicious meal. Mark and Sarah said they would be arriving at around 10 but got here at 7:30! They left at 5:45! So we spent all day together watching movies and relaxing. It was a really fun day!
The rest of the weekend together is sure to be just as fun!
Have a Great Day!
Be sure and remind me to post... i seem to forget! ;)
coming up next week. Mike will be doing some training and I am planning on going along with him. We will leave Monday for Odessa, where he will teach on Tuesday. Then Wednesday we will strike out for Huntsville where he will teach on Thurs. Thursday we will swing by Benchley and pick Mark up and bring him back here. He will have yet another knee surgery on Friday. We'll bring him home (to Benchley) on Sunday, and hopefully he will be able to pick up with class on Monday. I will stay a couple of days to make sure he is on the mend. Sarah and Sherri have said they will help him getting to and from class until he is able to drive....hopefully that won't take too long. Hopefully three times is the charm!
andrew, look on my page under links. there's one called pleo tricks. it tells you how. and mom has a cheat sheet that i made for her. yall should make an account! you know... if your mom says its cool. ;)

So glad you came over. I had fun and thank you so much for the lunch. Hope you have a good week and we look forward to seeing you next week during the meeting :) Love you!
welp i finished my app to shsu... i will submit it later today when i have my cc with me so i can pay the application fee. im going to fax tc a transcript request and call mrs. whitis today. almost done!
coming up...and because Mike had to work last saturday, he is off this friday. That means four days off in a row! We are planning on leaving tomorrow for a short trip to Fredricksburg. We will spend Friday at the Nimitz museum and shopping and then head home saturday. We may ride the motorcycle, but if the weather is looking bad, we may just take the jeep. Either way it will be a nice get away. Then we will be here for services Sunday and still have a day off to boot.
Mark is coming in today for another appointment with his orthopedist. He has evidently hurt his OTHER knee. Hopefully we can put off any surgery (if it is needed) until xmas holidays. Just for the record, he wasn't doing anything risky or foolish when this happened. Just getting out of the lake. He just has problem knees...I'm pretty sure high school athletics didn't help, but he must have some weakness there, because otherwise every hs athlete would have this much trouble. Hope we can get it fixed.....
Loved the museum in Fredericksburg! You can go to the Nimitz Museum and then the National Pacific Way Museum is not far away from that. It's a good thing that y'all are taking the whole day b/c it too Brent and I that long to go through both of them! Have fun!
laurie told me marks knees are actually you and dad's fault. good job! poor little feller. i didnt know yall where taking a little trip! have fun!! love you!
Jessica's mother, Terri, had told me they would be stationed at Ft. Hood, and I wondered if they would be worshipping with ya'll or at Killeen. Josh knew Phillip and his brother at FC, although I think he was better acquainted with Phillip's brother. Jessica is a talented artist and photographer. The Vincents are happy to have them back in Texas. Thanks for writing! I'm at Josh and Lisa's, keeping Lindy while Lisa has a dr. appointment.
