I've got an Acme anvil on the brain - hopefully it and this sore throat clear up by this weekend. ;o
This is what I think the itinerary looks like:
1.) NYC for Gospel Meeting
2.) Newark to visit with the girls
3.) FL for the 5:00 study.
4.) FL for the 7:00 singing/study.
5.) Go home and pass out.
I have a lot of people that are willing/able to give rides into the city. I know of at least 3 non-full cars that are going in and looking for occupants. ;p
What I guess I really need is to know who definitely needs/wants a ride, and then we can basically work out the details of how they are going to get there and back...
So far, it sounds like you guys(girls) are going to drive in yourselves (Em/Heidi/Laura/Megan)? I'll take responsibility for Dan and Ray. Is Jill going with you girls?
Okay... I'm officially confused after that long comment (perhaps the length has to do with my confusion???) -- are you saying you're riding in with your grandparents and Emily and you guys have room? Or that Em has room? *~* < -- (that would have been a puzzled eyebrow lift if I could do one)
If ppl need rides to a general meeting/carpooling place, I can help get them there; I'd prefer not to drive in Manhatten though (I'd like to live a little longer).
haha, it makes me chuckle to see all the plans written out. Maybe I should do that more? =P Anyways, hope your presentation went well. I told the girls to just tell me what I am doing this weekend, and so I guess I can take orders from you too. Just announce who needs rides there, and like usual i'm sure it will all be taken care of =)
^ Yeah, that's what we decided after 15 minutes of trying to figure out the to's/fro's of this weekend.
Just for your info, Megan, Heidi, and I are going to meet Em and whoever she has at Fair Lawn in the morning (actually, Em, why are we doing that if we're not following you in?) and then Heidi is in charge of directing me through Manhatten traffic (if you hear police sirens, you'll know it's us lost and talking on the phone). The only ones I'm not sure about needing rides are Dan and Ray... are either of them staying Fri night with you?
that sounds good... and depending on how many people we have maybe we can split up and in a sense "cover more territory" than just visiting the Newark girls. Elizabeth and Sarita could use encouragement/someone spending time with them and also some others that are around. In any event, it sounds good and we can play it by ear and decide Saturday. I guess the girls will split after the GM because Laura, Meg, and Heidi (?) are going to Calvin's going away party. So aaanyway.. yeah. Thanks for working on this
...to be in East Orange this December 26-27th. That's the Friday and Saturday after Christmas.
No, you don't have school.
No, you don't have to go out with your friends from school.
That's right, you have no excuses.
We're having our Gospel meeting here that weekend with all the young people that are preaching in this area, and all your cool friends will be there.
That's right: Tim Bunting, Dan Bunting, Roger Polanco, Brigham Eubanks, and Jon Focht (he's still pretty young!) will be in East Orange to give us some lessons about young people in the Bible and present some things that we, both young and old, can learn from.
Currently the plan is to have everyone come over to EO on Friday night at 7.30PM, when we will have one sermon. Then, we're having all the young-ish people split up to different houses to spend the night (however, older folks are welcome to spend the night as well if you have long trips!). We're hoping to have some of the older young guys lead in some devotions at the separate houses, and basically do what would be done inside a cabin at NJ camp.
The next day, we intend to reconvene at a hall to spend the day in fellowship, prayer, and study with one another (much like we did back in September).
That evening, we will go back to the building and hear two more sermons from the young men.
I am hoping that everyone will be able to make it - I know a lot of the college kids will be home from school, so we should be able to have an even bigger turnout this winter!
More details will be forthcoming, but we need to start spreading the word about this. The last event we had here was so encouraging, and I'm sure this one will be even more so if we get everyone's support.
On another note, I had a great weekend, and I hope you all did, too. Have a great week, and keep your lives fixed on God. :]
-Eddie
P.S. We're not having the Ezra/Ezekiel class this week, due to the Gospel meeting in Manhatten - hope to see you there instead! ;]
P.P.S. Looks like we're going with Nehemiah for the study in January. Sorry to disappoint the lot of you who asked for something else. ;p
You're on pleo in class? That's horrible. And WHY do you have to have a meeting when people like us are out of town? Hmmm... maybe I can bring ppl from G-burg out. Is there a limit to how many houses are open?
Oh! M and I made it back *before* 9! (okay, so it was like 8.58, but still). Thanks for the directions -- I missed the GSP ramp because I thought it was *after* the overpass. Oops.
Hi Eddie. I'm her. I met you once, but followed you here from your comments on her (L's) blog. Anyhow, your question below about OT books to study for 4 hours? When I visited the North Terrace church where she worships, they were doing sort of a word study with Proverbs. I don't remember exactly how it was set up, but I think basically they would take a word, ie. "wisdom" and ask the class to read 1-3 chapters and write down notes to share about how that word or attribute was discussed and handled in those chapters. It was very good and generated a lot of discussion. Also he - not sure I have his link right - goes there and he may have more memory of how it was done. Adam is there now too.
...really started on Thursday night. I spent the night with Ray and Jon. We had a Bible reading with some of the members at the church in Bethlehem (which they do every Thursday night), and then spent the rest of the night playing around or watching really strange movies.
Friday, we went to Udeme's and Idara's house and had a Bible study about Joshua, then had a lot of pizza. Of course, after that, we went to the Wydros' house for the Bible study there...where we had even more pizza. Good studies; way too much food... ;]
Saturday...Ezra, Ezekiel, Luke, Revelation, and Mark studies.
Sunday was good, of course. Some interesting studies and discussions with other Christians and family, especially about the involvement of God/Satan in tests/trials/temptations in our lives.
As usual, had an encouraging time with a lot of differentpeople. Thanks everyone, for helping make my weekends something I look forward to...starting Sunday night! ;]
I think I'm done working on this one, for now. The final product:
Should you be interested in a larger version, here it is at 1600x1200.
I love the weekends; they make the week better because there's something wonderful towards which I can look forward. :)
In theory I know how to change a tire, a lesson I received from Dad after getting a flat... at midnight... a mile from civilization... in the era before cell phones. Forunately, they lived a mile down the road. Fun times. :)
I pretty much always have a "big" event to look forward to, but my weekends are something I continually anticipate. pretty. it reminded me of when I went to the Creation Museum in Kentucky and went to the Planetarium. that was probably my favorite part! it was so cool. Stars are so beautiful; unfortunately, not so visible out here. ;/
Never fear -- I have no desire to write book-size blogs on weekend plans; that's your department. ;)
Since I'm homeless on the weekends and generally depend on the good nature of anyone who'll take me in, I try to ask ppl by Wednesday night. Sooo... I'm trying to decide whether to prevail upon the Wydros or the DeGrados this Friday night (hence my attempts at being organized, a feat at which I normally stink).
Odd question, but do you know much/anything about Fairleigh Dickinson University? And how far are the campuses from East Orange (one's in Teaneck, the other in Madison)?
