I couldn't agree with you more. Had he gotten the nomination for the Republicans, depending on how the rest of his campaign went and such, I could have definitely considered voting for him. He seems to be one of the only politicians that truly understands what needs to happen to solve these problems.
EVERGREEN, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say an argument over Saturday's Alabama-LSU football game led to the shooting deaths of a couple at a home in southern Alabama.
Prosecutors identified the victims as Dennis and Donna Smith of Brewton. The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Saturday at the home of Michael Williams in the rural community of Owassa.
Williams was arrested and charged with two counts of murder.
Investigators told the Press-Register newspaper in Mobile that Dennis Smith, an LSU fan, called Williams, an Alabama fan, after Alabama's 27-21 overtime win and an argument ensued.
The Smiths went to Williams' home. Investigators said Smith had a pistol and Williams had a shotgun and fired. Donna Smith was a relative of Williams' girlfriend.
what in the world, people!?? i was pretty ticked at Texas Tech last weekend but i didn't call up the first Red Raider i could think of and drive to his house with a gun.
maybe it's just an SEC thing. more likely, it's an alcohol thing, but the article didn't mention the blood alcohol contents of the parties involved.
we worry about bailouts and republocrats when Americans in the "Bible Belt" are killing each other over a football game.
"Bible Belt states, in contrast, are dominated by fundamentalist Protestant denominations that proclaim the sanctity of marriage but generally don't want to estrange churchgoers who do divorce."
Wow. That is shocking. Kind of like story in Chronicle this morning about an 8 year old who shot and killed his dad and is being charged with "premeditated murder." What is this world coming to?
I wouldn't really suspect it to be a numbers thing, just a lack of courage, and an unwillingness to be severe (which they would see as being "unloving").
In the Bama/LSU situation, one newssource reported that a) one was a former boyfriend of the other's present girlfriend, b) both had guns, and c) "alcohol was involved". What a combination...
i think the divorce rates are higher in the south because people actually get married. the mentality in the north in regards to marriage is a lot different there. like people don't care if they get married and i've had some women from the north tell me they won't change their last names IF they get married...just an interesting thing to think about
Well, as much as folks here in Alabama take football seriously, I think this is an extreme case. I don't think this is a good representation of fans of either Alabama or LSU. These were some nut jobs and not typical Southerners.
I agree about the divorce rate, though. Not just here in the south, but all over the country, divorce is a huge problem.
yeah.. some of the questions that had to do with it were "i have trouble figuring myself out" and stuff like that, which i don't have trouble with. i think it's a measure of the strengthes against each other, and since i'm strong in both areas it came up pretty even.
