Audie's school is selling Butter Braids. For those of you who have not tasted these amazing things you are missing out..they are wonderful. They come frozen, you take them out, thaw them, let them rise and bake them. Each one serves about 11 people (or 1 depending on your willpower). I am NOT pressure selling anyone, I just wanted to see if any of you wanted any as they are not something you can get in the stores (as far as I know).
The flavors are Apple, Blueberry & Cream Cheese, Bavarian Creme(with chocolate icing), Cinnamon or Cream Cheese. They also have a 9 piece Caramel Roll. They are each $12.
If you are interested just post here what you want and bring me a check made out to Carol Holt PTA. We have to turn the orders in on October 29th.
you should make sure my family knows about this. all of them (my mom and dad, grandparents, julie and trae) love them and we eat them all the time except sara and i dont sell them anymore i dont think
Your sweet hubby brought our butter braids tonight. Thank you! We are looking forward to having the Bavarian creme for breakfast tomorrow. Hope Audie feels better soon.
I am room mother for Audie's class and now helping with Teacher Appreciation in his school. I want to be as helpful, kind and appreciative as I can be as I think they are doing an amazing thing and I would rather them spend their time happily teaching than unhappily going to school each day. Soooooo I would love suggestions from you teachers, what would make you feel appreciated, what would be good help? From parents, what have you done in the past that has worked well. I am looking for things that both cost money (ie, small gifts of some sort or lunch) and "free" things like regularly scheduled volunteers in the classroom. I really am open to any and all ideas. I am very new to the school thing.
Last year we got Jordyn's teacher a Visa gift card. We asked all the parents to contribute a small amount for it. She loved it! She could use it anywhere. When I taught, I also liked thank you notes from the students/parents and offers to help out when ever needed.
We had a few parents who signed up to pick up a lunch from a restaurant for us each Friday (we paid for our own lunches- they just brought it to us) and we VERY MUCH looked forward to those.
Also, during teacher appreciation week, our PTA hired a masseuse and we each got free five minute massage during our conference time. It was loooovely!
Gift cards were always welcome and appreciated :), but I found kind notes from parents to be worth way more and really encouraged me to keep on keepin' on.
we do a teacher appreciation breakfast or lunch, but honestly, i think that they like the classroom supplies (usually expensive montessori materials) that are given to their classrooms that week the most.
In the past we have had a week of teacher appreciation. The teacher filled out a sheet telling us a little about what they liked including restaurants and stores. One thing that I did was that I gave the parents a list of the places that the teacher liked and asked them to purchase a gift card of at least $5. I collected the gift cards and bought some flowers. I put the flowers in a vase and put the gift cards on the plastic sticks for cards for flowers and made a bouquet of flowers and gift cards.
April, thank you so much for the book idea. I was telling Amy I have the book The Sneaky Chef, but I am always looking for good books on baby/toddler nutrition.
Audie did great yesterday!! He was not scared at all...he did not like the wire that was in his nose until this morning but eventually adjusted and made the whole 24 hours it needed to be in. He is back in school happily today. The doctor saw no damage in his esophagus which was a relief as he has done so much vomitting. She took biopsies and will use the study from the wire (PH impedence test) to determine how we need to treat him. Prayers were definitely answered. Thank you to everyone.
To top it off I found out this morning that the dog we have been having issues with is now a Kansas resident and can NEVER come back to Texas. What a relief. This has been a very hard situation and some of that continues as the owner will not even look at Glenn and I (turns her head in fact if she passes us) but all worth it to keep our kids safe!! We could still use prayers that relations with the owner improve as that relationship is definitely still strained.
What a great start to a Tuesday!!
Update-since I guess some of you did not know the whole story. In May Audie had a cold, and with that started coughing and vomitting. The cold went away but the coughing and vomitting did not. We are now controlling the vomitting with Prevacid but the coughing continues and they do not know why. The thought is that it is acid reflux that maybe needs a different approach.
On the dog issue, almost 2 years ago a neighbor's dog bit Audie. we did not report it and were told the dog would never be outside not on a leash again. That did not hold true and the dog continued to be loose quite a bit. We avoided any interactions until this June. Twice in June the dog charged Audie the second time knocking him over before we could get to him. Long story but we ended up going to court and the dog was declared "dangerous", owner kept him adhering to the rules, he got out again and as a result of that day and things that happened that day the owner finally found him a new home out of state. Now we can walk safely down our street. Yeah!!!!
I heard about this procedure. Why did Audie have this done? So glad it went well for him and so glad to hear the mean dog is out of your neighborhood! What a relief! :)
Audie is now officially in school....kindergarten. My shy boy absolutely LOVES school and walked right in the first day and the second day preferred me dropping him off out front to walking him in. What a blessing!! He has even had hour and a half soccer practices twice a week after school (plus one on labor day). He continues to be happy and do well. I am very proud.
I am learning in kindergarten, too. Late in the first week he told me that he and our neighbor (girl who he has known since he was barely two) have been called "boyfriend/girlfriend". Seriously...in the first week of kindergarten we are having that nonsense with two kids who are just happy to see a familiar face in the sea of 150 new kids at lunch and recess?? He again has made me proud and has been ignoring the teasing. My second lesson was on Wednesday. Here is the exchange:
Audie: I am not going to make friends with William
Me: Really, why not.
Audie: Well, Bailey (boy) is my friend and William punched him in the face.
Me: Oh, well did William get in trouble.
Audie: Yes, he got on red (the worst behavior color, get sent to the office).
Me: Oh, well that was not very nice. I am proud of your decision.
Wow....fights in kindergarten?? This is not what I remember.
Meanwhile Ella misses Audie greatly, is soooo excited when we pick him up and has started a new thing....sticking food up here nose. It is sort of amusing when I have to get her to blow her nose and a pea comes shooting out. She is going to be our one that draws on the walls, Audie thankfully never did those types of things.
Ella reminds me so much of Samantha - definitely the dominant personality in our house, too. Make sure your crayons are washable, or invest in lots of Magic Erasers! :)
Kindergarten is a lot tougher on kids than I ever remember!! They actually have to WORK!! LOL I'm glad he's having fun. Jaden is really enjoying it but is always worn out by the end of the day. Little Ella. She reminds me of Kailyn. :)
That is so funny - I never would have thought of a trash truck party. I know it's a clean truck, but I still wonder what kind of waivers you'd have to sign... Patrick saw a trash truck toy last time we were in Kid to Kid which is why he's so obsessed with them right now. I hope he gets over it soon because I don't intend to buy it for him and he thinks we will. 3 months for him to forget before Christmas...
Thank you so much for your generous offer of picking us up at the airport and opening your home to us. That meant so much to me when we didn't know where to go or what to do. Thank you!
I hope Ella is feeling better. We passed your van on the highway, but I didn't get a good look to be sure it was you and I don't have any numbers in my cell phone. When you weren't there for Bible drill, I got your number and was about to call you when I checked with Julie and she told me what happened. Hope everyone's healthy soon!
We had to cut down our two large trees in our front yard as they were dead or dying. Because of that we now have a lot of firewood. If any of you are interested, please come get some. It is stacked against our house on the west side in front of our fence.
What hospital does your OB deliver at? I am very interested in the whole vbac thing and would really like to at least have all the information given to me so I can make an informed decision. I am going to check a couple of different Drs out so I can switch after this sono appt.
im so glad i got to come :] i will definitely miss yall too. that was so sweet of audie to come over and talk to me. years of babysitting finally pays off :] oh, and if you want the bedroom stuff and/or the bunk beds, let me or my mom know
