You wouldn't believe... 10-19-08 04:07pm EST
...everything that was planned all in one weekend. It seems like most of the time I just shoot the breeze and never really have "plans". Not this weekend.

It started on Monday with baking cookies for the class at the hospital. Brad and I tried really hard but they were the most ugly halloween cookies I have ever seen. So Tuesday I baked more. Trying to keep the theme of breast cancer awareness, I made pink ribbon cookies. They were no R.J. Goodies cookies but they worked. After all of that, the class got cancelled and I got left with all of the cookies. Thankfully, some people at church were gracious enough to take them off of my hands.

Friday night Anna Bradley got married. It was a beauitful wedding but man was it a long day. I got there around 1:00 to do hair. I think I ended up doing like 7 heads of hair! The ceremony was beautiful, the food was delicious, the slideshow was hilarious and they had a photo booth there. Yes, an old time like carnival one! It was great.

Saturday was the fashion show at the hospital and Brad had a softball tournament in Crosby for Sacred Selections. Project Pink raises money for breast cancer research. My grandmother was a model and she did a wonderful job, so I was told. I was there to do hair and makeup and then back to work I went. That night Brad and I went to a 70's surprise birthday party. We had so much fun dressing up, unforunatly we looked ridiculous. We left at around 8:45 cause we were so exhausted. Came home and baked muffins for a brunch for after church. To top the day off, Brad got a flat tire. So there we were, past the point of exhaustion, trying to change a flat tire at 11:00. And by we I mean Brad was changing it. Or trying to. Something about wrong parts or I have no idea. Anyhow, he finished it up this afternoon.

Today our gospel meeting started. David Smitherman really impressed me and I am looking forward to the rest of the week. It was also so encouraging to see so many in attendance this morning. People were actually sitting next to each other and not scattered everywhere. The singing, class and sermon were very uplifting. It was just a great service all around. I wish every time we assembled it was like that.

Now that I have rambled on forever...I hope everyone is well and have a wonderful week!

Eternity... 10-16-08 12:06am EST
We never know when our father is going to call us home.

We have lost so many in the past few months. Last night we lost another brother in Christ, Virgil Ray.

I have sat here typing and erasing for about 20 minutes now trying to find the right words to say. Needless to say, I still haven't found them yet.

There is so much pain and grieving happening right now and it just hurts my heart. In class tonight our teacher was talking ahout how we can be a teacher and how so many times in our lives we are given opportunities to preach and teach and so often we pass them up. For me, it is fear. Fear that worse case they will reject me or best case they listen and then ask a question that I can't answer. I have been thinking about the hymn This World is not My Home. We get stuck in a routine of just singing to sing and not singing to praise God and reflect on the words of the song.

"This world is not my home I'm just a passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue..."

We don't know when our time on this earth will end. We need to live each day as it was our last. I need to stop being so afraid to say the wrong thing to the wrong person and start acting like the christian that I was put on this earth to be, to teach. You never know when a few words may change where a person spends their eternity.

purpleirisGreat thoughts! It is very sad about all our losses. I think we're all trying to find the right words right now. Luv ya!
kristasfait has been a rogh couple of months... but like you said, our treasure is laid up somewhere beyond the blue, what hope there is for us!
didowVery good thoughts. The fear of rejection and fear of not knowing what to say are what keep most of us from saying what we should. I'm still not the best at it, but experience and lots of study definitely make it easier.
bonnyswanthere have been so many losses of people near and dear to us this year. our comfort is in the hope that one day we will be together again.
gracie03I'm praying for y'all and the others who knew Mr. Ray. You're so right about what our attitudes should be. Thanks for the reminders!
yblock57I remember Mr. Ray's dad who used to be a member at cy-fair. He was always at the front door greeting people. They were good folks.
spike427i was so sad to hear the news. :(
wifeletIt's been a difficult year ... but knowing God makes all the difference!
gracie03Thanks for the encouragement, and same goes for you! See you tomorrow!
jamiemmoonit seems like when people are looking for Him, our words of encouragement and intelligence are not as important as the love in our hearts for their soul and our Lord. That takes the pressure off of us and gives the deserved respect to the Gospel and the grace of God.
kcollinsI am so sorry for your loss
jamiewell said, it's like you are typing from my heart!
carolattheriverNo, this is the first time to do something like this. We may do it again next year. We will see when that time comes.

I've been tagged! 09-25-08 11:08pm EST
8, not so interesting, facts about me.

1. I have taught piano lessons since I was 14.
2. I am a hairstylist.
3. I love TV. Especially Grey's Anatomy.
4. I love animals, especially my dog Dazzle.
5. Brad just informed me that I am a neat freak. SO maybe I am a little OCD about a few things, but I wouldn't say freak.
6. I am always up for a good chick flick.
7. I hate to admit it but I look forward to the holidays all year, especially christmas. I will listen to christmas music in July.
8. My last fact is that I hated doing this, I mean trying to come up with interesting facts about myself is really hard. I work, sleep, hang out with Brad and that is my life. Very boring.

So I am ending this tag with me and starting a new one. Write interesting facts about other people. Take the time to thank someone or pass out a compliment. Write a list of things you are thankful for. Personally, it is just really hard for me to write about myself. It is a lot easier to write about someone else. So this may go nowhere but hopefully it will go somewhere.

I will go first by making a short list of some of the blessings in my life.

I am blessed to...
- have a god fearing man in my life. Bradley means the world to me and I wouldn't be where I am today without him.
- have a steady job that I love. Some are not so lucky.
- have people in my lfe that care about me, for real.
- have parents that love me and still love each other.
- attend a sound church that has wonderful teachers and preachers that have taught me the truth.
- have my own faith and know what that means.

I tag Bradley, Natalie, Ashley, Valerie, and Emily.

gracie03I LOVE the new tag idea. It's much better than the other kind, I agree, :) I'll work on it.
dederichI love the new tag idea so much, I'm going to tag myself!!
nick_katieThanks for the recipe. Looks yummy! I didn't know you taught piano! That's cool! Two little girls at church here want me to teach them....I've been out of practice for a while, but I'm going to try. The reason you couldn't see my post is b/c I hadn't added you to my friends list. Oops. I though I had. Glad you said something!
famous_amosOh I love Grey's Anatomy too, I thought Thursday's episode was really good.
the_dillardsMe?
chicaSweet post! I appreciate your thinking of your blessings! We are all so blessed.
jennifermyHi Amy! I'm glad you found me on here. I look forward to getting to know you. I was talking with Lindsey and Emily Wednesday and they told me you cut hair. Where is it that you are at? I am still driving to Baytown and want to find somewhere closer.
jamiemmoonhey...i did not know you were on here. Maybe we can keep in touch!
lindseyI dreamed last night that I was helping you and Brad plan your wedding. At the same time, we were trying to save the area from Japan because they were going to bomb the area. So random!
gracie03Wish you could go, too, but I bet they will be happy to have you at the hospital!
carolattheriverHas Amanda told you about the Sacred Selections fund raiser? www.sacredselections.org
lindseyI am! You were upset that Japan's bombings were taking over your wedding. Ha. Bridezilla? ;)
carolattheriverOh that's great! I wish you could come too, but it sounds like you are busy with similar things. Good luck with your fundraiser!
jamiemmoonYou look great in your pic. No need for change!
gracie03Looking forward to it! :) Thanks for the support. ;) Oh, and I need to get into the shop soon - time for a trim...or maybe more! Hehe.
bradford_rebekahYou cut hair :) That is really good to know. Seriously, I love pretty hair. Creating it is not a gift I possess. I lack the knowledge, the patience to keep trying, and commitment to a style that I have to fix it every day. Maybe someday you could give me lessons. Do you trade services?
bradford_rebekahpre-kami I worked as a massage therapist at a spa. I still have all my equipment, but now I only work on women that I know. Usually, I only work to trade services. (that typically is child care so I can have a date with my husband!) If you can schedule time to teach me. I really mean teach I'm that inept when it comes to my own hair, I would love to trade or find some other way to say thank you.
bradford_rebekahOr if you want something graphic design related I can "trade" Pat. He pays for my vanity one way or the other :)
jamiemmoonhow is your week?

WHY??? 09-19-08 06:04pm EST
Why do bad things always happen to good people. I just don't get it. Matt and Lauren lost their baby this morning. I have been thinking about them so much lately. I log on everyday to read her updates, see what craving see was having that day and waiting for her next appointment to see when this baby wanted to come out. Then this happens. They don't deserve this. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

To Matt and Lauren:

My heart aches for you and I know how hard this is. May the Lord be with you and comfort you. I think of you and think of the song "God will take care of you." Love you lots!

spike427it is so sad. so many prayers are being lifted up in their behalf. i hope all can find comfort soon.
wiseHow very sad. My prayers are with them.
kristasfaI dropped my laptop when I read the email on allthings in common... I just couldn't read the rest of the email. I have these three beautiful babies with me and she has none... and that tears my heart apart.
gracie03I don't know Matt and Lauren, but we seem to know several people in common. How very sad. We'll pray for them and for their friends and family!
the_dillardsI don't know your friend's either, but this has been something weighing on my mind as well. I have thought and prayed for them often since I heard about what happened. It just makes my heart break!
gracie03Hmmm...I think I'm liking the new car approach. :) I may not have a choice if it did too much damage. :)
gracie03That's a great idea! I guess I hadn't thought about how you can see the whole congregation from where we sit. I think I'll talk to Jeremy about moving. Thanks! Hope your week goes well!
gracie03I just tagged you. :)

More info on my uncle 09-01-08 11:02am EST
I was talking with my mom this morning about their weekend and she told me more about the type of cancer that my uncle has. I am not sure what it is specifically called but it is a type of chronic leukemia. Which means that he will never go into remission. Normally your white cell blood count is around 4000 his is 22,000. However, he could go back next week and it could be 9,000. On a scale of 0-4 he is in stage 2. He is handling everything well and in good spirits. Please keep my uncle and his family in your prayers.

spike427so sad to hear that. in our prayers!!
leahsparksTHat is so sad. :( We'll pray!!!
carolattheriverOh Amy I am so sorry about your Uncle.
gracie03I know - I figured once I spent waaaaay too much money on my bag, I should get rid of some of them. :) And I thought it might be asking a bit much for Jeremy to live in that. Hahahaha. :) Thanks! And, yes, my hair DOES look fabulous! THANK YOU! :)
preacherdavetxare you related to Adam Clanton - the 610 sports radio guy?
nick_katieHey girl! Glad you found me on here!! So sorry to hear about your uncle. I will keep him in my prayers.
preacherdavetxYes, he did do something you ought to know about. I wrote an article on it. I think Valerie Hutson sent it to you.

My sister is Amy Hunter. I think she goes to church with you. I knew your Dad from Kleinwood back in the days. Anyway, sorry to hear about your Uncle. Will keep him in our prayers. God Bless.
ninaThanks girl. I am in Bryan/Coll Station. What about you? Still in Houston?
beccHey Amy! I'm praying for your uncle. I know this must be hard for your family to face, but with the Lord, anything is possible. I need to come and see you soon. My hair has already grown!
gracie03You are TOTALLY allowed to say that. :) Thanks for the "amen"! :)
famous_amosI am glad we finally met :) I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, him and your family are in our prayers.
the_dillardsI am so sorry to hear about your uncle. We will keep him in our prayers! I just read all of your older comments too, it has been a while... You are very special to us too!!! I am very glad you are in our lives. So when are we going to get together again? I think we will be going to Columbus sometime this month, maybe we can do lunch?
natalie_cI will definately be keeping him in my prayers. I can relate on how you feel when you are told someone in your family has cancer. It is an awful crushing feeling. My mom had breast cancer and our Mema had colon cancer. Thankfully, we can reast assured that the Lord has it in his hands and he hears our prayers. That is great what you are doing with the class and all that you teach. I didn't even realize that they had something like that.
larieSorry to hear about your uncle. I'll keep your family in my prayers.
3rd_downhaha you'll be waiting a while :p
ozfan_04Your uncle will be in my prayers. Cancer is a scary thing. If we put it in God's hands though, it doesnt seem as scary.

Glad you joined. I had to go back and read your other post to catch up. School started last week so I've been out of the loop. We've enjoyed being with you on several occasions this summer and hope to get to hang out more.

If yall can come, Ashley, Natalie, my dad and I are singing in a Branson themed vaiety show on Sept. 19. Thats a Friday. They'll have finger foods served at 6pm and the concert will follow. It's going to be alot of fun.
gracie03Thanks! Missed y'all, too. We weren't feeling very well, so I'm wondering if it was what we had for lunch. :( Looking forward to seeing you Wednesday. By the way, thank you for being such an encouragement. I really appreciate you!
gracie03Hehe. Guess the play dates will have to wait. I did mention to Jeremy the other day that we should get a dog while we're in the rent house so we can just pay the pet deposit and mess up someone else's carpets during training. :) He said I could do whatever I want. :) I think we may have to wait, though. I'm going to be out of town two weekends in October, and I'm afraid he might kill a dog while I'm gone if he's trying to train it. :)
kristasfaI think we're going to go home on Friday... so you can come whenever... hopefully the babies will be in the well baby nursery tomorrow and out of the NICU.
jamieWe'll be praying for you-I know how tough cancer is on a family.
