This is the day
That the Lord has made
We will rejoice
And be glad in it
Remember God Is In Control …
With all the things I have going on in my life right now, it is very hard for me to take hold of this and apply it to my life.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.” Romans 8:18
Unfortunately suffering is a compulsory part of human existence in a terribly fallen world. The difference for believers is that our suffering need never be in vain.
As always, I petition your prayers on behalf of my sister. Each day seems to reveal something new … sometimes good and sometimes bad. I also ask now that you pray for Byron and me in the days ahead. We are dealing with some troubling and difficult issues on Byron’s side of the family.
“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalms 118:24
On this day 35 years ago I come into this world. I AM the baby of my family STILL even after 35 years. I can not even begin to tell you how blessed my life has been. I was very fortunate to spend the day with my family this past Saturday. There were 4 generations of us together for the day. I found myself soaking up the blessings of life through my wonderful family. I have been blessed with MANY wonderful people in my life. I could not possibly begin to list you all and the influences and difference you have made in my life. Please know how special each and every one of you are to me … YOU ALL make me who I am today!!
In other news, ol’ Bryant went for his final puppy vaccinations. He is only 16 weeks old and weighing in at 38.5 pounds. Bryant gained 10 pounds since his last vet visit. He is a growing boy! I will post pictures again soon.
Finally, I ask that you all say a special prayer for my sister and my niece. Yesterday was the beginning of a VERY ugly legal battle for them to stay together as the family they are. Unfortunately, I am not able to go into much detail on the World Wide Web, as we know that HIS family views this blog.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:6-7
Nice to hear from you again, Amy! I'm glad Kim's friends get to see how she's doing through this venue. Don't know if your on Facebook or not, but she's on there from time to time. I agree with you--she was absolutely beautiful and I've NEVER seen her happier! I had a very hard time keeping myself from crying my eyes out the whole day--happy tears, of course. Happy Birthday! And I will say a special prayer for your sister. Lord willing, good will come from the adversity you are all experiencing, in His time.
Here are some updated pictures of Bryant. He is growing so fast. When I took him in for his 12 week check up he weighed in at 28.5 pounds. I can’t wait to see what his weight will be on October 4th at his next appointment.
I hope everyone in the Pleo World loves the crisp fall weather as much as I do. The weather man said that Gainesville will have an official “cold front” move in this afternoon … YAY!!
Today is my first official day as the Grants Specialist for my department. The original plan was for the Sr. Grants Specialist to train me until December 4th. Of course it is always good to have a plan … but that does not mean it will work as YOU have planned!! Unfortunately, the Sr. Grants Specialist’s mother has been suffering with Alzheimer’s disease for some time now, and was also recently diagnosed with terminal bladder and kidney cancer. So yesterday the Sr. Grants Specialist cleaned out her desk and she is available on an “as needed basis”. So I Am It!! Did I mention that my position has not been filled yet and that the posting does not close until October 8th? So, we will be doing good to have my position filled by November 1st, which runs very close to my first major grant deadline of November 5th. Needless to say I did not sleep very well last night.
Today has been a great day so far. One of the very sweet ladies from one of our labs brought me beautiful flowers. This made me feel very welcome in my “new duties”. I know the change will be hard for everyone as the retiring person has been here a VERY long time!! I was then treated to lunch at Texas Roadhouse by 2 of my closest friends and co-workers.
The Lord has blessed me beyond comprehension with this promotion. Although the days and weeks ahead will be full of challenges, I am ready for whatever comes my way.
Congrats!! I'm sure Robin and your mom told you that I got to see them on Wed. Talking with them made me miss you SO SO SO SO much because Robins facial exprestions reminded me of you !!! Hope you enjoy your new job and window :)
Well, Papa went to the doctor yesterday and it appears that the screw in his ankle has not “backed out” any more since his last x-ray. At this time there will not be another surgery, BUT he will have to go back for another x-ray in 2 months to make sure the screw is “staying put”.
I sure am glad that Papa won’t have to have another surgery … it might get in the way of his extra circular activities!! Now keep in mind that the reason he as the pins and screws in his leg is because he fell off a roof 4 months ago. The pictures below are from Saturday (8/30).

^^ Papa helping out just a little bit …
On Saturday several of the Davis men, Papa included, but a new roof on the “old house”. This “old house” was built in the early 1900’s and is the house Nana, Byron’s grandmother, was born and raised in. The “old house” is still furnished with beds, cradles, chairs, tables, pictures and Grandma Waters’ (Nana’s mother) dressing table with the mirror and all her toiletries still in place. What a neat place it is to explore … the history is amazing and the stories are wonderful!!
Oh my. You know, if he's doing what he loves..... It reminds me of my favorite line from Steel Magnolias "I'd rather have a little bit of something wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special" (That may not be word for word, but you get the idea)
