Surgery appears to have been a success! She in surgery for about 6 hours - much less than the 16 hours it COULD have been.
I got to see her last night for about 3 minutes and the thing she was most worried about - not being able to see or move her left arm was put to rest - she could do BOTH!
Thank you so much for all the wonderful prayers and praise to God for His healing hand. She still has a long way to go, but she's doing great!
Thanks again!

Hey everyone - just got an email from Jennett that she sent out to all her "long distance friends" and I wanted to share it with you. It looks like she is going to have a long recovery and she's pretty scared. Please keep her in your prayers. Her surgery is set for a week from today (July 22nd)
FROM JENNETT: "My tumor is about the size of a lemon and is located right above my hairline in the centerish of my head, just to the right.
My speech and hearing should be fine, but I am facing possible vision loss and paralysis in my left arm, leg and possibly face. It may very well be just loss of strength and hopefully temporary.
I go in for embolization of the tumor on Monday and the surgery is scheduled for Tuesday morning. It may take 4-16 hours. I should be out of the N-ICU (nuero not natal, goofs) within 24-48 with 5-7 more days in a step down unit.
The doc is still confident that he won't have to shave my head and that I will not have a scar on my face. I can't get my head wet for 10 days and I can'tcomb it for 3 weeks! I will look totally rasta if I make it through this... "

I got a call from Jennett around lunchtime after her visit with the Neurosurgeon (which is AMAZINGLY fast to get seen after being diagnosed in the ER only last night..)
She is going to have to have surgery, and it's tenatively scheduled on 7/15 (she had a vacation planned for this weekend and next week and the doctor said it was fine for her to take it). She will be in the hospital for about a week and then on bed rest for 3 weeks after that. She can't drive for 6 months - which is going to drive her crazy! She's an AVON lady with a BOOMING business, so I have a feeling her mom and I will be driving her around for a few months while she points to her customer's houses.
She seemed in much better spirits than last night. Thank you for keeping her in your prayers. She is very dear to me and it's been a rough day so far. She joked that she gets to give one more donation to Locks of Love before they shave her head (she has GORGEOUS thick hair)

I just got back from the ER from a visit with my best friend, Jennett. She just found out tonight that she has a brain tumor. She doesn't know if it is cancer or not - she just had a CAT scan and MRI today at the hospital. SHe meets with a Neuro-Surgeon tomorrow to go over options. When I left tonight, the radiologist was about to go over the MRI results with her.
Please keep her and her family in your prayers. She has 2 young daughters - ages 10 and 8 and a wonderful husband. She is also not a Christian (yet - we are working on it!) so please pray for that as well.
Thank you all. |
