ashley pulled out in front of a bus today. i think she's okay, but haven't been able to get up with her yet. her car was damaged beyond repair. please say a prayer for her

a notification i was going to update with anyway: i made a 28 on the ACT.

ashley is okay. she has a very bad bruise on her hip. her car was totaled, though. the wreck wasn't her fault; she technically had the right-of-way. i'm so happy that she came through this okay. also, the bus that hit her only had one driver and one passenger, neither of which were students or were hurt.

five days no comp. 11-12-08 09:51pm EST

srry ppl. i got a bit behind.

i'll start with the importantest stuff.

  • Sis. Sheila Webster passed away last Thursday. She had a degenerating disease and had been in our prayers for a long time.

  • Sunday morning, Sis. Sheila's sister, Janice, and daughter, Christine (i think that's her name) came forward. we were overjoyed for the returning of these two to the fold. I also heard from an aunt who goes to Southside, the other congregation in town, that Sheila's son attended services for the first time in years on Sunday.

school:

  • football season is over, so concert season's kicked in. we played for a veteran's day program tuesday, and are now starting Christmas parade music. this year, i have decided to play xylophone during concert season and continue to practice my oboe at home. i'm considering playing in Dry Creek's talent show next summer. (but only if i can get the Disney solo i'm working with to sound really good. right now i'm having issues playing middle C on my horn)

  • Latin's moving right along. this week, we learned the second masculine declension. which is a lot more fun than it sounds!

  • Algebra introduced us to the 3 by 3 equasions this week. which i really need to go home and practice...

  • We have begun Julius Caesar in English class. wish me luck on memorizing his speech.

and, i only have two of my four puppies left, and one has been claimed but not paid for. two of the brown males, Cappacino and Comet, found homes on Saturday. the fat one, who i named Bandit but is now named Rebel, is promised to Dad's boss. the black and white female, Stella (which is Latin for star), has not found a home yet, but i hope she does because she is so beautiful and sweet.

tis all,

luv yall,

liz

3rd_down

tis some bitter sweet news up there!

didow

Good luck on the try-out.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sheila. It's a shame it's takes something like to get some people thinking about God again. I hope they continue to put God first.

the_rainy_dog

Sometimes good things can come from what seems to be bitter moments. :-)

You're learning Latin? My older sister and my younger sisters are learning Latin, but I think they are learning different forms of Latin.

Do you know what kind of dogs your puppies are? May your Julius Caesar memeorizing go well, Elizabeth!

dawsonlover10

actually Mrs. Shelia's son Mike got baptized on Thursday night. :) and Julius Ceaser's speech isn't that hard... its pretty cool actually! yea now i have to play ALL BY MY SELF!!! :( oh well it'll be okey dokey!:)

didow

Oh no. Keep us posted on how she is.

the_rainy_dog

Cool. I don't often hear of younger ladies learning Latin. I, myself, am going to go with Spanish, which is pretty common, but I thought it could be convenient seeing as English and Spanish is probably some of the most common languages heard in America. But then after that I'm think of learning....German! I thought it might be fun and different, and could come in handy some day.

I'm glad Ashley is okay! And congrats on your ACT score. That's good, right? =)

3rd_down

That's very good to hear!

didow

I'm glad everyone is okay. I'm especially glad it wasn't her fault.

3rd_down

well fine! I just won't post for another week :p

say goodbye to marching season!! last game twas friday, we lost 23-0. but the show went over well. =)

and...

say hello to me driving! got my permit tuesday (after forgetting my papers, running home, failing the eye exam b/c of my lazy left eye, had to go get my eyes checked, resulting in a small restriction on my permit)

heehee. but we did get it. and my pic's really not that bad. i drove from church today to the place where my fam. eats.

got my RYC Winter Camp application in Saturday -- it's going in the mail tomorrow. can't wait!

oh, and i did dress up for halloween, even though we had a football game. i wore the costume to school; a lot of students did (we had permission of course). i was eowyn from Lord of the Rings. if you don't know who that is, then i'll just say i was a mideval lady. with a circlet!! lol.

well, ta ta for now.

P.S.

whoever can tell me the hymn that i'm thinking of which is based on Psalms 148 gets a cookie!!!

luv yall,

liz

3rd_down

Awesome about the permit! My parents are still stalling... but I have gotten to drive on some private property!

"Alleluia Praise Jehovah!"... now where's my cookie?

10-26-08 02:21pm EST

Yesterday i took the ACT. i think it went fairly well, and i hope it did so that i will never ever have to retake it. not fun.

ACT est magna et dura et non bona.

Friday was an away game, at Nettleton. We won our second game of the season 28- 14.

however, i forgot to double-check the pit room to make sure that absolutely everything had made it onto the band trailer before we left. the pit left:

-our entire mallet-bag

-a pair of crash cymbals and the suspended cymbal (they were in a bag together)

-the tambourine

-the triangle

and

-the sleighbells.

essentially, we were unable to play anything. we were able to borrow some mallets from nettleton's pit (thankfully).

i can assure, though, that it will NEVER happen again while i'm section leader.

the end,

liz

trumpetmaster

I sure hope not. Anyway, looks like both of our bands are doing really well & we're both section leaders!!! Do ya'll have another competition?? I wish our football team was doing that good. Our team is TERRIBLE!!!!

partygirl10122

Things are getting a lot better since I've been going to counciling

swiftedge

I can't read that second sentence, is that Latin?

linusandlucy

I hate the ACT.

arya

et longa.

partygirl10122

yep=]

trumpetmaster

That sounds just like our football team. I can bet that the only reason that most of the people goes to the games is for the bands.lol.

fyra_draikspell

Yeah, they are great!

vickigo

Hey , Elizabeth. If you are 18 or older, then you sign it , otherwise, it would be a parent. And as for the extra applications, just email me the address to send them to. vickigo@gmail.com

i can't believe i actually survived this week... 10-19-08 08:07pm EST

my schedule is finally a little less hectic.

hmm... perhaps i should start from the beginning...

but where is that exactly?

okay, so monday and thursday afterschool were band practices. we were getting ready for union contest, which we rocked! (even though four ppl weren't there, two got sick right b4 we went onfield, and the mic. didn't work) we got all superior (finally), and came in second in our division. Jordan, our drummajor, was top in the division (even though she had a sore throat)

tuesday, we started beta club. i have yet to pay my dues, and will have to see if i'll even be allowed to stay in the club: i won't do any service projects for the salvation army, i'll be one short of the required amount.

wenesday was the PSAT (which made me miss a few tests that had to be made up afterschool). it was rough. i think i did fairly well, though.

friday was the football game... we lost 21 -24.

saturday was contest day again. we left at eight in the morning, sat out a three hour bus ride (including a stop for lunch), and arrived in union at one. we played at two and sat around until the awards ceremony at four, then took an equally long bus ride home, arriving around seven.

and, on top of all that (as if i needed something else), the whole week was Anchor club initiation week. basically, i had to wear a foam anchor and do random things each day.

monday, whilst in the math hall, all new anchors could only step on the maroon tiles of the floor. failure to do so resulted in being sent back to the beginning of the hall to start over.

tuesday, we went on a scavenger hunt for answers to questions about anchor and pilot club. the answers were taped to the walls and bulletin boards (and occasionally the ceiling) throughout the school.

wednesday, we had to put our hair into a ponytail on the very top of our head and everytime the bell rang, we said "land ho, drop the anchor"

thursday (initiation was held at six that night... i left early to go to church) we had to dress in whatever costume our big sister arranged... i was the trix rabbit. (pix on facebook). at each bell, i had to say "silly kids, trix are for anchors"

and...

friday we wore our big sis/little sis t-shirts (several sizes too big) and at each bell wove pom-poms we were given and said "go toppers go".

report card grades coming soon! (mom lost it)

our gospel meeting went well; i managed to make it every single night.

the end... i think i'll sleep now...

whats anchor club?? that sounds like fun..and beta too? I'm just in BPA, Skills USA and I'm on the UIL team..

3rd_down

that anchor club sounds brutal... :p

soccerluver

Most people do.. out loud

3rd_down

what do mean, "what went wrong?"

mooseheadjoe

Andrew wasjust joking about everything going wrong... lol

3rd_down

not exactly^ :p
what I meant by that was everything from pitching a song too High and not being able to sing half the time, to messing up numbers on the board, to completely losing my place on the page and singing the wrong verse :p

trumpetmaster

Nice week. Haven't heard from you in a while. How have you been?? By the way, we had a marching contest 2 Sat. ago, & we got an over all 1, best drum major, 2nd in our division, & best flags. We were ausome.

dawsonlover10

you did have a hectic week. the week before that was hectic for me with exams and our gospel meeting.
