a few weeks ago, I considered getting a flu shot. I put it off. I wish I hadn't. I really thought it was a good old fashioned cold I could work through, but those aching bones and a little fever soon made the flu bug clear. I hope and pray it didn't hitch a ride to Lakeland with Nikki & Alan! It didn't hit until they were already up here. Tried to keep my distance by staying on my side of the house wiping and spraying with Lysol. Oh well, that's life and I think I'm feeling a little better. (This was not a blog for your sympathy, but thanks anyway!!)
I love the cooler weather and we sure needed that bit rain yesterday.
Feel better Jenny! We missed you today at the group meeting. Here's my best bit of nursing advice: if you get a fever...just let it run its course. You'll get better faster. Now, you probably already knew that, but it makes me sound smart. =)
hope you feel better! I read Julie's advice...I go opposite...stagger the tylenol and ibuprofen...help keep the aches away! I had the flu shot for the 1st time in my life this year...I was a bit pressured into it by my coworkers and medical friends....I don't recommend it! I had the aches, fever and flu symptoms for 2 days! Next year, I'll just take my chances!
It sounds more like a virus that you have, so a flu shot would not have helped anyway. So many times we call viruses the flu, but the flu is much more serious and of course that is why they give shots for it. Hope you are feeling better soon.
I'm pretty sure flu shots don't give you the flu...at least that's the word on the street. Could be wrong. But...there IS a reason that flu shots are recommended. This is America...we still have choice. I'm so sorry you are sick! I was wondering where you were yesterday. It's very noticable to me when you aren't there! If you need anything. Call.
Sorry to hear you have been/are feeling crummy! NyQuil is my honey's answer to any ailment. He thinks it cures everything. He is about as bad as the dad in the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". For those who have not seen it, that dad sprayed Windex on everything/everybody. Hope you are better SOON!
I hope you feel better soon, Jenny! And of course I missed you too at the group meeting. I kept listening for your voice when we sang, but then realized you weren't there!
Yup. I guess so. I heard on the radio that some Republicans stayed out until 2 in the morning putting out signs at the polling places and when it was voting time later that morning, most of them were gone. Ohhhhh well.
I've noticed for quite some time now, that it's whoever the media chooses, is the one who wins, but never has the media been such an important part of an election. Too bad they are Christians.
Do you think we should start in 2 years with signs stating our requirements for the job: must be honest, hardworking, willing to live under their own legislation, etc.
I would put a ? by win. Really, the only sure thing he won is the chance to put this country further in the hole. However, I'm am waiting for the always possible epiphany.
My vote is in! I feel peaceful with my decisions and look forward to watching the results on Tuesday. This was the first time I voted early and it was very pleasant. :) No long lines (which I fully expected this morning), people smiling, everything very organized. Nikki & I took advantage of the morning while the guys played racquetball and Josh slept in. Since She & Alan are up here this weekend, we went to the library & voted. We both felt very good about having the privilege to have our say in this country. We were all up way too late for Halloween, but had a great evening enjoying chili, hotdogs and way too many sweets. Very small turnout of trick or treaters this year and of course I bought too much candy as usual. We had a fire out in the pit around midnight & made s'mores (like we hadn't had enough sugar already!)
Happy Fall Ya'll!
It is nice to vote early. I voted on Wed morning. Did you notice that these poll workers are actually happy to be there? According to them, it has been consistently busy with a large amount of new voters. Great country we live in!
I wish we had the option of voting early, but alas, I will be standing in line on Tuesday. It sounds like y'all had a fun Halloween! I went with Katie and Matthew while they took Slaten trick or treating in their neighborhood, then I took Slaten to see Billy's mom. She got a big kick out of him coming to trick or treat her. Then I stayed at K & M's house while they went out with some friends. All in all a pretty quiet Halloween.
Something I was reading this morning gives an interesting perspective.
Sometimes we need to think of our current situations as a dot-to-dot picture. We can't really see the finished picture to begin with and might be over-whelmed if we could. So, start with the #1 dot and carefully draw a line to the # 2 dot. It can be comforting to know that we don't have to see the whole picture, we just really need to see the next dot.
Road trips to Lakeland will be on the menu soon. We'll have to discover the best pizza place (to replace Main Street Pie) for 'Boat's daughter'. There's plenty of room in the van!
Good thoughts. Our lives are like a tapestry that is being pieced together as we live. One day it will be a beautiful work of art :) (I stole that from someone else ;)
