So, somehow it is Friday already, and I am trying to get everything ready to leave for our trip to my parents on Sunday.
I still have to do two loads of laundry, finish packing, give Al her bath, and clean my house. I want to know it will be clean to welcome us home. (We'll see if that fantasy comes true... ha ha).
Rusty and I get to leave on Sunday afternoon, and we're staying through Saturday. I can not wait! My friend, Amanda, is coming on Tuesday, my sister, Caroline, is coming on Wednesday, and my favorite aunt and uncle are coming for Thanksgiving dinner! I just can't wait for all the fun to start!
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving too, and that you get to have a good meal, great shopping, and fun times with those you love.
I am thankful for all of you! ;)
Love,
Catherine
I'm looking forward to the holiday too! i cant believe the end of the year is here already! crazy how fast the time goes by. enjoy your trip and the time with your family!
Allie had her puppy party on Saturday, and it was an absolute blast!
Four of our good friends came over and they brought their sweet dogs with them. We had five puppies and six people!
The puppies ran and played, ate dog-friendly cake, and gave Allie presents. She got treats, toys, a coat for winter, and the movie Lady and the Tramp.
Laugh if you will, but my pup will sit on the couch and watch that whole movie! She loves it!...not to mention her mom was a pure-bred cocker (Lady), and her dad was the neighbor's schnauzer (Tramp).
Also, if you think I'm crazy for having a "puppy party" (as many have stated they do), I am okay with that. It was a good excuse to get friends together, let the puppies play and ware each other out, and get some really cute pictures! (I will try to post some later!)
Her real birthday is on the 26th of November, just before Thanksgiving. I am thankful for you, Allie! :)
Awww how cute!!! I bet it was great fun and just an fyi tramp was not a schnauzer in the movie. He was a mut but i know who your talking about the british schnauzer that always wore a sweater but i cant remember his name in the movie. :)
Jock is actually a Scottish Terrier. They look kind of like schanzer's but are lower to the ground with short little legs. I guess you are right that they never say what breed tramp is, and he is intended to be a mut, but I am just saying I think he has all appearances of a schnauzer. (With the natural, un-clipped ears).
This post is Chicago Bears colors in honor of Rusty.
Poor Rusty is in severe pain right now because he did something to his knee in our race on Saturday.
On Saturday, we ran a 10K. It was colder than we've run in before, and I didn't train as well as I should have, but we both made it through, and I think (though it didn't break any records) that our time was fairly decent.
Consider that it was cold, we were layered with extra clothing to stay warm, and we had just finished gospel meeting week. (Great, but very tiring).
So, anyway, Rusty had been having a little trouble with his knee before the race (probably from training). During the race, however, it felt great, and he did fine. Then, by the time we drove home, it really hurt if he put any pressure on it. So, he's been trying to stay off it (except for preaching and teaching class for 3 hours on Sunday, and going to school today). So, this morning it still hurt immensely, and he could hardly walk. He is driving home from school now, and I gave him the address for an urgent care facility that has a doctor who specializes in athletic injuries. We're hoping he just pulled something, and with proper rest that it will heal itself, but I really hope he goes to the doctor on his way home because IF it is something more serious he should not keep walking on it.
Anyway, please keep Rusty in your prayers. It's really hard to watch him hurt like this. I hope he goes to the doctor today, and finds out something so that we aren't dealing with a mystery injury and guessing at treatments.
Thanks guys!
Love,
Catherine
UPDATE: Thanks for all the prayers, guys! Rusty did go to a doctor, and they did an x-ray. It seems to be some problem with his knee cap not moving the right way. So, he is doing physical therapy for two weeks, and then he goes back to the doctor. He is also wearing a knee brace that seems to be helping some. Hopefully this will all get fixed up in a couple weeks! Thanks again for prayers (and feel free to keep praying). ;)
I recently got a webkinz. I bought it because it was an elephant, and it was 50% off, and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Now I think they are super cool, and I am having blast having my elephant work, save money, build and furnish her house, buy clothing, and make her own food. Right now she is saving for a claw foot bathtub.
Rusty and I went camping this weekend (to Indiana Dunes) with some very good friends. We had a lot of fun, but are glad to be home, and rid of the smokey smell.
We had a Chili cook-off and I won!
Allie had a ball. She played with all the other puppies, and ran all around the campsite with all the kids. She is now totally exhausted, and she has collapsed in her bed.
I climbed many sand dunes both yesterday and today, and I am exhausted and ready to collapse in my bed.
We are going to Knoxville for Thanksgiving to be with my family, and Amanda, and I can't wait for shopping!
I found out that my family just might be coming up for Christmas! We thought we would not have any family this year at that time, so we're excited!
I can't wait to go to lectures in February, especially since both sets of parents are coming!
Thank you for letting me list my updates. Hopefully this is less overwhelming then a paragraph form. :)
i'm excited for you to come to lectures too. i wish i could have been at the dunes. i never actually got the chance to go, though i planned on it a couple of times. glad you had fun.
I love camping, but mostly the hotel form. he he. glad everything is going well! ok, i just heard about webkins the other day. im totally out of the loop!
Sounds like a lot of fun things going on! I wish we lived closer to Knoxville so we could see you more often when you visit! Y'all will have to be sure to visit Columbia sometime when you have the chance. I'm still hoping that Chris and I will get to come to lectures. We'll see...
Thank you for all the birthday wishes everyone! They worked! I did have a very happy birthday.
Rusty took all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday to spend with me and give me all his attention. I got to decide what we did for the whole weekend. It was a lot of fun.
Since things have been so crazy lately, on Thursday, I just wanted to stay home and relax. We watched t.v. and ordered pizza.
On Friday, we went to Indiana, and watched the play South Pacific at a really neat dinner theater. The group even turned out to be a "Christian" group, so they did a couple things to "clean up" the play a little...like cutting out some bad words. Very nice!
On Saturday, we spent the day in Rockford. We hear Caesar Milan, the "dog whisperer" do a question and answer session. We also went to a lot of my favorite stores, and we had dinner at Red Lobster. It was so much fun!
Now the weekend is over, and we're back into the swing of things...sort of. It seems like things are so crazy all the time, that you have to stay in constant motion to keep up...and then we're always tired! :)
But, we are blessed that we both have good jobs, and a nice house to live in....and a cute pup to love!
Allie will turn 1 in November. Let me know if you want an invitation to the Puppy Party!
I'm glad you had a good birthday! It sounded like fun.
How is your studio going? About how many students do you have now?
As of next week (if everything works out) I should have 7 violin students, 1 voice, and 1 beginning piano. The piano student is my cousin, so my aunt wanted me to give it a try. I'm using the Alfred Premier books. Is that what you use?
hello! so i stumbled onto your blog by accident...and you may not remember me but i realized we took the same TDP class at FC in fall 2006...I was Karen Chastain at the time. anyways i just thought id say hello!
Thanks, we found out yesterday that Moussie has a very bad heart murmur and he has a cancerous tumor on his backside. He will be 13 on Dec 13th and we have decide to just let him live out his life and not put him through surgery, His heart probably would not take it anyway. The vet said we will just monitor him and make sure he is not in any pain. He seems to be doing okay for now. Sad news for us. He is part of the family.
Wow...how weird...I don't mean that in a bad way...I'm just soooo not a dog person that I never would have thought of someone actually doing something like that. haha!!! :) Have fun!
