Yesterday Kelli's class was using red paint to paint apples because they are talking about apples and leaves.
Kelli accidentally got some of the paint in her hair.
While her teacher was washing the paint out of Kelli's hair in the sink she tells the Classroom Aide "In 30 years I've never had one get paint in their hair."
I am supposed to meet with Kelli's teacher for a conference on October 14th. I think I'll skip telling Mrs. Barker the paint washing episode might not be the only new experience she has this year :)
What? She's never had a child get paint in their hair? That seems a little odd to me. Sure she's taught for 30 years????? Happy anniversary....17 years and 7 days before us!
I forgot to post this one about Kelli my parents reminded me the other day.
One night when my parents were staying with us after Ike, Kelli wanted to sleep in my room. We just got our power on that evening and I kicked both kids out of my room. Kelli back to her room and Jennifer and her air mattress to the den.
Kelli did not want to sleep in her room so she wrote me a note which basically was "Please, Please I'll sleep in my bed tomorrow night" I was in another room and my parents were in my living room and Kelli carried the note to me to read.
I caved in and told her OK one last night. She walks by my parents and says:
Yesterday after school I told Kelli I didn't like her behavior and to change it immediately.
Kelli: Um the bad Kelli put the naughty costume on me and I can't help acting ugly.
Me: Oh that's too bad cause you're gonna get in trouble for everything the bad Kelli does so you better tell her to leave.
Kelli: She won't leave
Me: *sigh*
EDIT: After telling my parents the rest of this story they said I left the funniest part out. So here is the rest of the story....
I gained my composure and told her she was gonna get into trouble if she didn't tell "Bad Kelli" to get out of the car.
Kelli acts like she's taking the naughty costume off and throws it out the window. I said "Is she gone?"
Kelli: "Yes but she's running behind the car. Quick turn on your back window wiper to knock her off!"
The whole rest of the way home we had to keep turning on the window wiper to knock Bad Kelli in the ditch.
What Kelli doesn't know is that her older sister tried a similar thing when she was 4 with "Friend Jennifer". I've got lots of experience in dealing with imaginary friends who act naughty!
I found this survey given to Kelli by her sister when I was gathering towels to wash.
In Kelli's class they have a "Student of the Day" everyday. The other children are supposed to interview that child.
Kelli has been practicing. She has one of us interview her so she'll be ready. She's the last one because of her "S" last name.
I wonder if any of the other kids practiced...

Jennifer made up these questions.
That kid is so funny! It's kind of scary what her little brain comes up with. Sometimes I think I'd like to spend just one hour in her head to see how it works...somehow I don't think I could survive all the action :)
You can find the recipe at foodnetwork.com. I think it's called Creamy Macaroni & Cheese or something like that. But, it's definitely Paula Deen and it's made in the crock pot. Yum!
Ok I've kind of done other things like this before so I've tried to think of somethings that I've never shared.
1. I really want to be a published writer someday. I have had this dream since I was in elementary school. I have a notebook full of stories, etc.
2. I eat pizza with a fork. First I eat all of the topping off with the fork. Then I pick up the pizza slice and eat it the normal way but all that is left is bread crust and tomato sauce. I don't know when I started that, my Mom says I've been doing that a long time.
3. I cannot stand milk. Even when I was a baby my Mom said I wouldn't drink it. I don't like it with chocolate mix or syrup in it either. I do like ice cream and milk shakes.
4. I cannot eat any food with a lumpy texture for example oatmeal or applesauce. I cannot stand it and it gags me. For me that is saying something...I have a strong stomach.
5. I can memorize things very fast. Especially numbers such as songs in the song book or telephone numbers. I once worked as a Pharmacy Technician and had to call roughly 60 to 80 doctors in any given day. Within 1 month of working there I had all of the numbers memorized. However Math is not my strong subject.
6. I am scared of bodies of water especially those that I cannot see the bottom in. I cannot stand the thought of fish or who knows what else swimming by my feet and legs.
7. I am double jointed and can turn my feet out at exactly 180 degrees and I've never taken ballet or anything like that.
8. If I love a book or a movie I'll read it or watch it over and over. I cannot tell you how many times I've watched the Harry Potter movies. I've read the first 6 books 4 times each and book 7 2 times and am thinking about starting it again.
Interesting facts there girl. I am scared of bodies of water like that too, but I still swim in them anyway. It's fun if you can just ignore the risks.:)
Yesterday when Kelli was saying the prayer for dinner she added this line:
"Thank you for letting the power come on to our homes and let it come on for the rest of the people too."
It never ceases to amaze me what kids pick up on!
By the way, my day is feeling much more normal now that my routing is back! You have no idea how big of a step it is for me to actually admit I need a routine.
Kelli cracks me up. I check my closets because my brother posted some crazy news stories about people sneaking into houses and hiding in closets so now I'm paranoid.
