Happy Birthday... 09-08-08 11:16am EST
To my sweet husband! He's only a baby - 28! Someone thought he was 40 the other day and he was so excited about that! Weirdo! :) I am very lucky to be married to my bestest friend, closest confidant, and greatest encourager!

Also happy birthday to her sister and her husband! We know lots of people that share Ryan's birthday and we like them all too! :) Have a good day! I'm off to look for another present for Ryan. I decided this morning that he needed something else so we're headed to a sports store that's going out of business to see if we can find him a basketball to go with his new goal.
loloTell Ryan "Happy Birthday from Weasel!"
sgarner2005Happy Birthday to Ryan! Too funny about him being happy about someone thinking he was 40. That's a huge difference b/t a man and a woman! :) I'd be quite upset!
crazy_mamaHappy Birthday Ryan. This was my due date with Noelani and there were tons of people born on this day. So many people wanted me to go into labor on the 8th (including me!) but Noelani had other plans for us!

So what happens... 09-03-08 04:54pm EST
when you wake up in the morning (ok late morning :) to find that the high is only in the low 60s? And you realize that your daughter has no pants - only shorts and capris? I guess you pull out the one pair of pants the poor child has and hope its warmer tomorrow! That's what I did anyways! Is it really fall? It was 90 just the other day - today 60 and raining! I guess I need to call some people and see if they have any hand me downs because I am not prepared to buy her all new clothes! And I guess I'll be hitting our local baby thrift store to find some things. Her problem (as is her brother's problem) is she's tall and very skinny! So when we buy used a lot of times the waists are very stretched out. They both need those pants that have the adjustable waists. I start officiating volleyball tomorrow. In MO varsity games can be 3/5 instead of the 2/3 that all the schools in the big conference in this area still do. Lucky me I have tons of matches at the one private school in town that is doing 3/5. At least its more money! So I'm off to get yelled out by coaches and spectators alike! Fun fun! But at least Christmas will be taken care of and some major savings too! I'm off to start dinner!

A few quick pictures... 09-02-08 10:56pm EST
Here are some pictures of the kids from the last few weeks. Mostly Aunt Lindsey requested something new so I'm changing to a happier post. So mostly these will be pictures of the kids in clothes that Aunt Lindsey bought them. :) Yeah for Aunts! You might think its very cheesy to dress like your kids. I don't make a habit of it but I do find myself dressing in similar color schemes or styles of clothes even with Luke. Its something I don't even do consciously. But these dresses were an obvious dress alike. Lindsey got Lily her dress in Jamaica and I bought mine on my honeymoon in St. Thomas. The funniest thing about the whole thing is watching Lily in her flip flops. One of them is stretched out and comes off constantly. She's forever tripping over them but she LOOKS so cute! Luke wanted to be in the picture too. Also there is a picture of him in a shirt Lindsey got him. He looks so handsome and old but can't figure out the smiling for the camera thing. It still looks painful! Finally there is a picture of Lily in a hole. Ryan got a basketball goal for his birthday and the kids had so much fun playing in the hole while he was working on it. This was the best picture I got from the event but it looked hilarious to see just their little heads peeking out of the hole.

I'd love to share more kids stories but I can hear Ryan upstairs getting ready for bed and I don't want him to think I'm wasting too much time on "nerd training" - :). So good night!
audgeYour kids are so cute and I'm so glad that I got to see you again! Thanks for being so excited and happy for me :)
crazy_mamaLily in that hole is so cute!!! It's so much wider than she is!
stylinmamaYou have really cute kids!! And I like to have Chris and Caleb matching at least color schemes on Sunday mornings so I understand the whole matching thing. :)
aschlosserSo cute! Love the hole picture - I always think how much fun kids have with things like this and we end up spending so much on toys they never play with! :) Joel would have a ball in a hole!! :)
appleCute dresses! I Love Lily's little pig tails! :)
loloLily is ADORABLE with her hair up in that first pic. Coulter likes to match at least one of the girls on Sundays. I usually end up being the odd one out for some reason.
bamacraneCute pics! I feel like we haven't talked in forever.
appleI can DREAM can't I! (ha ha)
I'm getting ready to go to Ga. and KY. this week. Maybe it will be FALL there :)
charliesangelyour little Lily is SO CUTE!!! as is Luke of course but Lily looks like a heartbreaker. You know, i get emotional when i think about being away from Evie in the hospital. I know i'm going to miss her so much!!! You look great, btw. i've never seen your hair that long!
loloLet's just say I'm making a better effort at keeping in touch with the girls who mean so much to me...you just beat me to the punch when you called the other day. Be prepared...you may receive a phone call soon! ; )
mini_lizziethese are adorable! :) you look so great! :)
loloWhat size is Lily wearing? I may have some of Emma's clothes that she can use...no promises though.
emwhittFunny! :) Doing fine. I worked overnight, but Myron is home today and he let me sleep in!
emwhittOh, and I love the pictures!
I often dress like Nora without even meaning to ;)
coulterHonestly, I think both require difficult responsibilities, both are numerous enough to provoke voters in their own right, one you get elected, one you do not. One might involve more sacrifice & volunteerism than the other it depends on how both do their particular jobs. Sarah better be careful not to loose the vote of more dignified 'organizers' t/o the country. Barak better be careful not to offend the 1,000s of small town mayors t/o the country.
coulterI love the picture of Lily in a hole.
melmibellecute pics, can't believe it's already getting colder there :)
charliesangeli know, i was thinking of you specifically about pictures. i'm SO HUGE, Becky. ick. but i'm having shower tomorrow, so i will try to get some cute pics for you!
sgarner2005Oh my word, so cute!! I do Callie's hair like that too, it is so adorable!! I love the hole story, it's amazing, all you have to do is dig a hole and they are entertained for hours.

What size is Lily in and are you done having kids? I'm trying to find someone to do a clothes "swap" with. I have SOOOOOO many clothes and dresses for Callie I hate that they are not going to get worn again. I'd love to find someone that has a boy and we can temporairly swap. Although we live so far away I don't know how that would work. I do have so many clothes though.....she never wears the same dress twice.
nicolegYah I noticed that afterwards too! Its goign to take the jaws of life to get those paci's away..I think were going to have a full house paci extingushing when Hailey is older...right now if Hailey has one Peyton knows he cant just take it from her so he goes and finds a toy, sippy or anything hands it to her and says "Thank you" as he's taking her paci out...its actually pretty funny.

This might break your heart.... 08-26-08 07:47pm EST
I realize that this video is VERY disturbing. But from what I can determine its true. I did a little research on the internet and apparently this and other terrible forms of abortion are common practice. I'm not posting this to be political. I just, personally, had no idea that these barbaric practices happen. It breaks my heart that ANYONE could do this! I realize that this abortion practice is largely for babies with severe disabilities, some who may not even live. But I was blest to be the sister of a sweet little boy that was "retarded" and it breaks my heart that any child would suffer because they aren't perfect. I won't be upset if you don't want to watch this - it was very difficult for me. But what is worse is that its real!

beckyrooWhen I first about this on the radio, I cried! It makes me so angry. I have very strong views about all of this! If anything gets me worked up, this can.
bigdeborahi have heard about this but never seen the nurse herself talk about it. so awful!!!!!!!!
appleWOW! That video brought me to MANY tears! That is SO TERRIBLE!!!
loloI heard about it on the radio but seeing this video leaves my stomach in knots. Disgusting!
stylinmamaHi Becky, it's Carrie (Davis) Willis. Lauren's blog brought me here. This video is certainly eye-opening. It's maddening and sad. But thank you for sharing it.
crazy_mamaFirst off I want to say thank you for sharing this. I had no idea this was goin on. I think this might just be the sickest thing I have ever seen in my life. These special little gifts from God being left alone to die. So helpless and lonely. The best thing to think about is the fact that they go to Heaven to be with God. Lucky for them. There are so many people wanting children and to not allow people the priviledge to do so is so sad. Thanks again for sharing it.
aschlosserVery hard to watch - it made me sick as well. Thanks for passing it on though - it is better to be informed.
ccmomThat is very very disturbing and sad! How can anyone do that? I know there is great evil in the world, but Wow!
tnmomI had never heard of this. It is so sad, and it makes me sick to think that our possible future president is supporing this. One more reason to pray that Obama doesn't get elected!
backtoblackI had to turn it off when she talked about the Downs Syndrome baby left to die. I worked with and taught these precious, precious babies with DS, Autism. Cerebral Palsey, Prader Willie, and Aspbergers, and bipolar disorders, and things I had never even heard of! I can't imagine these babies not being in this world! is it easy to deal with a child with health issues? No! Would you wish it on anyone? NO! But these children are capable of giving so much love it is unreal! And their smiles are worth it all! I was born with a congenital heart defect. I thank God that my parents loved me, wanted me, and fought for me! It was hard, stressful, costly, and has been a life of never ending worry for them, and doctors with not always good news. But I thank God that they thought and STILL think I was worth it!
kcrxgirlThat is horrifying! I feel so bad for those poor little babies. I can't believe that anyone thinks it's ok to do this!
mini_lizziei am the cousin to a boy with cerebal palsy who at 7 still wears a diaper and doesn't talk and i could not imagine my life without him!
emwhittI can tell from the above comments that I will have to watch this video later, when I'm well rested and won't break down crying.

In response to your comment, I am totally bummed that the Olympics are over! I'm suffering from withdrawal, for sure. I've saved part of the Closing Ceremonies on our DVR so that I can go back and re-watch it over the next few days... :)

I'm SO glad we were able to chat. I feel the exact same way... no matter how much time passes, we can pick up right where we left off. I love all the times we both say "Me, too!" during our conversations! Love you!!
mini_lizziei would love for my tires to be only $140 a piece. the cheapest these are is $332. tell them to go to discount tire and get a warranty even if they didn't get the tires there. they will fix everything, balance and rotate for free and if there is an issue within a certain tread reading they'll replace the tire for free. i got this warranty right after i bought my car when if ound out how expensive they were! it has saved my life bc this is the 3rd ding i've had in a year and a half. :(
backtoblackI worked in KELP (Kindergarten Exceptional Learning Program) at Westchase Elementary for five years. I learned more about both prejudice and compassion in those five years than I have in my entire 36 years of life. When one of my babies was finally able to hold a pencil, or write their name, or FINALLY learned the alphabet, or could count to ten after trying all year, or seeing that first glimmer of understanding in an autistic child's eyes, I KNEW I was blessed to be witnessing one of God's miracles! I am thinking of going back to work at the school, I miss my kids. I will only work with special needs children. I would be bored silly in regular ed. My kids are capable of learning, but instead of the usual point A to point B, We go a little slower. I like the scenic route! :)
backtoblackThank you for your comment, I wish everyone had the "Pleasure" of working with my kids, or kids with special needs. I am not saying it is a bowl of cherries all the time, but it DOES give you a new perspective on things. You learn to laugh A LOT! My name is Aprile, and I can't even remember how I got to your page! LOL. Obviously through someone elses page! Would you mind if I add you to my "friends List"?
backtoblackI am so very sorry about your brother! I am sure your mother IS a blessing to not only her kids but their parents too! It is so difficult having achild with serious health issues, as I know you realize! These parents and families need all the support they can get! God knows what HE is doing though, and there is a purpose for everything and a place for EVERYONE!
gamommaThank you for posting that video. It is heartbreaking and a real eye opener.
bigdeborahthat is so awful for me to watch, but I know that it especially gets to you in ways I cannot understand. It makes me cry to think back to what you and your family had to endure, then to see all these other people not realize what a precious gift they were given and they rejected it! It makes you wonder how God allows this nation to go on
backtoblackYou hit the nail on the head! The parents are often times their kids BIGGEST problem! Denial, not willing to put in the effort it takes to teach a special ed. child, not willing to go the extra mile. It is so frustrationg to have these kids "trained" (for lack of a better word) and able to do things on their own and then return from an extended weekend and be right back to where we started because the parents didn't work with them over the break! Christmas was the WORST!! It is like we had to start completely over every January! But worse than us (the teachers) being frustrated, the KIDS are frustrated too! It's already hard for them, why make it harder???
stylinmamaWe're all doing well! I scrolled down and you have a beautiful family! Looks like my son is only about 6 months older than yours. How are you and Ryan? Tell him Hi for me. I'll add you as a friend since my blog is private.
loloThanks for calling last night. It's always great talking to you and I wish we did it more (I know, I'm TERRIBLE about calling). Love and miss you!
bamacraneYes, the haircut is a little different than what I asked for. I asked for alot of thinning out and a few long layers. Well, the thinning out part is great but, the layers....well, I think I have a long mullet in the back! And yes, my grandmother's name is Mary Ellen (Christian) Mullinax.
vandeThis gives me the thought of... what must it be like for God's creation to continually reject Him. To us rejecting or not wanting the gift of a child and all the joy that comes with that blessing is comparable at least on a small level to us rejecting God. He desprately wants us to choose Him and not reject something as wonderful as the grace that He gives so freely. But we can be so foolish and act so unreasonablly in the interest of pleasing ourself. Our nation needs to humble itself and stop rejecting God's gift of love Jesus Christ. God help us! Amen.
lynzBecky! put up the picture of you and Lily you were telling me about :)

Commissions 08-18-08 10:12am EST
As I mentioned in an earlier post we started commissions with Luke this week. He has certain extra chores he can do each day to earn a commission (Dave Ramsey's alternate plan to allowances). He's complained a little about it (mainly because he's a perfectionist) but mostly he's been so excited to get money. On Saturday Ryan and Luke went through his money and divided it up into spending, saving, and giving. So Sunday Luke gave his first dollar that he earned by himself. He was so proud and told me all morning how he was going to spend his dollar at church. I had to laugh! But it was very sweet and we were very proud. He also bought himself a race track with his birthday money. We thought he'd immediately ditch it like all other toys and really wondered if we should let him get it. He bought it Thursday night and has played with it nonstop ever since. I had better get. I have lots to do today. Ryan gave a sermon yesterday about the virtous woman so now I'm really feeling pressure. :) Have a good day!
