Things are moving right along... 11-08-08 07:46pm EST
David and Jonathan have been busy putting up trim in my dining room and kitchen. They have the whole house to do, so it will take a while. I have to say, it looks much better around the windows when they are trimmed out. Next, they will work on the trim around the bottom of the walls.

We also got some doors for some of the rooms. I will finally have a door on our bathroom, that is joined to our bedroom. I can take down that white sheet soon. :-) We got a door for Hannah's room, and the computer room. We also bought doorknobs!

This will keep David and Jonathan busy for a few weeks.

Double standard? 11-07-08 10:39am EST
This past election day, after doing our civic duty of voting, David, Katie, Hannah and I went to I-HOP to eat (will never go back, but that's another rant). Anyway, as we were sitting waiting for almost an HOUR for our pancakes to arrive, a black lady, sitting near us was talking on her cell phone. She was telling someone that Obama won't be in office for more than a year because some REDNECK is probably going to pop him off. Her tone of voice was sarcastic.

Most people would consider us as rednecks. You know hunter's, living in the country, tractors, cows, chickens, that sort of thing?

Anyway, on Wednesday, the local news interviewed a black man who said he was "verbally" assulted on the city bus that morning. I guess we all can guess what he was probably called.

Why is it ok to society to label certian people? I agree the "N" word is to NEVER be used. I hate that word. But isn't it just as bad to call someone like us "rednecks" in the same derogotory way?

teelduoTo GOD, IT IS WRONG and it shouldn't be in a Christian's vocabulary or mind. But sadly to the world it's ok to have that double standard.

ONE more day. 11-03-08 07:50pm EST
Only one more day! Twenty four hours. Well maybe a little more than that, but I can't wait until all this election garbage is over.

Trick or Treat 11-01-08 06:42am EST
The kids had fun. Hannah was Snow White, Katie a punk rocker and Jonathan was a Austrailian "cowboy" or something like that. He had a mustache and beard too. He had one of Hannah's stick ponies and acted like he was riding a horse. Jon and Katie are really too old, I know, but the people up this holler doesn't care and want to see my kids dressed up each year, no matter how old! They always have HUGE treat bags full of candy for each of them. Poor Rachel had to work and Sarah just went along for the ride (she didn't dress up).

And for once, David got to go along. He has only been trick or treating a couple of times in their lives, because he was always working. Now that he works morning shift, he is able to see some kid activities now. I guess better late than never.

We have a birthday party to go to today. My niece, Kristin (Kevin's daughter) is having a birthday party for her 1 year old baby girl. I can't wait. I love parties, especially parties for little ones. :-)

Here's a few pictures of our pumpkin carving:

Update 10-29-08 12:44pm EST
The Anniversary party was a huge success! My mom and dad were totally surprised! We had a room full of people at Shoney's in Teays Valley. All of us kids, with our families were there, as well as my aunt Mary, her daughter Tracy and son Kenny, and Kenny's wife. Also, a big surprise to them was the presence of Jim and Deloris and George and Melanie. The food was good and the cake was beautiful. THANKS to Kelly and Jason for arranging the cake. I do have pictures and will some later. :-)

Jonathan is doing better, the doctor closed his incision with steri-strips to make it heal closed now. He is back in school too. He liked being home and is considering me homeschooling him now.

Hannah is doing great with her kindergarten work. She has finished most of the books and has started in the 1st grade ones. Her reading is really going great.

Katie is doing good too with her homeschooling. I bought some books from "Christian Light Publications" and Katie really likes them. They must be from a Mennnonite company, because all the pictures in them show Mennonite people. Her pregnancy is going ok, so far. She has a regular OB appointment next week, and they will schedule her an ultrasound for later in November. I just pray that everything is ok with the baby. I have no idea what is happing, but it seems everyone lately is having babies with some kind of problem. I just found out today, a girl who grew up with Rachel is due with her first baby in December, her baby boy has a heart defect called Epstein's Anomaly. She is being sent to a Cincinnati Hosptial tomorrow for some testing and will have her baby there in December. The hospital's around here aren't equipped to handle that kind of heart defect.

teelduoGlad the party was a success for your parents! You pretty much took over Shoney's. LOL

Glad Jonathan is healing up. WTG Hannah! I love it when they first learn to read and you can see their little brains hoppin' and soakin' in the knowledge. Prayers that all will be well with Katie and the baby. Put everything in God's Hands, HIS will be done.
