Tonight the whole family went to a girl scout function. We walked half way through a four acre corn maze. I couldn't walk anymore as my back started acting up and my legs were going numb.
We went out and the kids started making s'mores. Our service unit manager was trying to help the girls put on marshmellows and then make the s'mores by herself. I offered to help and then she rangled Jackson into helping as well. Eventually Jackson left to go on the hayride with everyone else.
Me I was covered in marshmellow and chocolate. For most people this would be a good combination, I found it gross. As most of you know I really don't like chocolate. I can give or take a marshmellow.
Well to get to the point... there was a bag of sort of melted marshmellows. Most of these girls are preteen and poorly raised. A couple of girls got angry with each other. One was mad enough to take the bag of marshmellows, while I wasn't looking, and smear it all over the other girl's hair and clothes. It will easily wash out of the clothes. Her hair might be a different story.
The poor thing went home in tears. The mom was angry at us for allowing it. I told her we were helping the other girls and asked her where she was. She informed me that she had other things to do and dropped off her daughter. I then told her that if she wasn't going to take responsibility for her daughter then why should I. The woman started to blow up and the SU manager told her to just go home and take care of her crying child. The woman said she was going to charge us with neglect.
Where on earth do these people come from? Who do they think they are to dump off their responsibility onto others and then critisize how things are handled? This attitude has amazed me ever since we moved to PA. I guess since I didn't go many places in Indiana I didn't notice it. This woman apparently didn't listen to Govenor Palin during the debate. |

Today I went to register to vote. What I know of McCain, doesn't please me. Sarah Palin on the other hand, that is a person I could vote for. From what I can tell she is a staunch concervative.
So today I went to Harrisburg to the Republican office to register to vote. You have until Monday to do this. I filled out the form and then they told me I had to mail it to Carlisle. I told them it wouldn't get there in time. Then the man was goofy enough to tell me, "Sorry ma'am, I guess you won't get to vote." Hello I am voting Republican, you would think they could have been more accomodating.
Another man came up and told me that he goes to the Carlisle office everyday. He offered to take it for me. I gladly agreed to allow him to do this as I didn't have time to go to Carlisle today.
If I can vote, I will. I doubt that it will count for much. Since The Govenor has one of the electoral votes and is as liberal as Obama and Hillary. I will give him my 2 cents and hopefully will be listened to.

There are those that are up in arms about what is happening. There are those that don't know what is going on. The worst is that there are those who don't care what is going on. I fear the second set and am frustrated with the third.
If you watch the news you are going to get a slanted view of things even on Fox News. Stephen and I avoid it except for the debates. According to them the world is coming to an end. I am sorry, but did I miss something. Christ hasn't returned yet. Things are going to continue on until he does. LIVE people.
If you want a good place to find information quickly check out www.freerepublic.com. We heard about 911 there first. Even before it was on the news. The reporting has been accurate and usually very conservative except for a few oddballs. (Hey they exist everywhere.) If you create a user name you can make comments ask questions and post up about news yourself.
Finding out what is going on won't solve everything though. Nor will hiding your head in the sand like the others want to do. My grandparents and great grandparents lived through THE GREAT DEPRESSION. When I was a little girl I had to do a family tree and have them talk about their lives. Some of them I have recorded their voices, but others I have what they said written down. I decided to pull that information out and look at what they said about their lives in that time.
First off let me say that they were all farmers. The depression didn't hit them as hard as it did those who lived in the city. They didn't depend on others to provide for them. They did it all themselves. Physically working themselves to the bone. I am proud to come from such wonderful people.
When you are talking about providing for yourself, there are some things that are going to be necessary.
1. Pay your bills on time. (Be a good steward)
2. Pay off your debt as quickly as possible. (Owe no man anything)
3. Prepare to be able to live off the land. (I don't mean a few tomato plants either)
4. Learn how to be self sufficient. (You don't want to depend on buying everything)
5. Reuse and Recycle (Make sure before something is trashed that you can't make another use for it)
6. Physical labor not mental is what will save your family. (Garden, canning, sewing all the "lost" arts)
7. Take stock of what you really NEED in your life and how much it really costs for those things. (What you need and what you think you need are two different things.)
8. Have a positive outlook (Depression and negativity are not only not helpful, but promote things that are much worse.)
9. This too shall pass. (I know I hate that saying, but it was where it came from. The amazing thing is that they are right, it did pass.)
10. Help others as you can. (There is always someone who has it worse off than you do.)
These are the top ten things I have from them. There are others, but these are the quips I wrote down as a 9 year old little girl. At that time I had four great grandparents and all of my grandparents. They were willing to share about that time in their lives willingly.
On a side note, my Great grandpa recommended making moonshine. I asked what it was and was given a chemistry lesson of a lifetime. :)
So in closing...
Live the Christian life that you have been given. God will provide. Fear is something that comes from Satan not God. God is not a God of fear. Fear, panic, anger and bitterness get you no where. Live prayerfully, practically and logically, not emotionally, fearfully and bitterly. Remove materialism from your life. Replace it with a love of things that are Godly. If these things plague you, pray about it immediately. Stop what you are doing and give that problem to God in prayer. He will help you for He has promised.

I have a sore throat, runny nose, runny eyes, and headache. I hope I didn't give it to my new friends last night. They have to be healty for competition.
I layed around in bed for a couple of extra hours. I didn't sleep, but I did rest.
Time to go find some drugs. I still have the rest of the day to function through sort of. :)
Stay healthy! Get sleep! Drink Soup! At least that is what I am going to do. |
