It looks like Hanna is heading our way. Michael had thought about evacuating the kids and me. But he would have to stay here at the hospital to handle emergencies, no matter what. Since it looks like the storm/hurricane has been down graded, we are going to stay. Unless, of course, there is a change and a mandatory evacuation.
I've been busy stocking up on water, snack foods, and batteries. Michael found someone to come wire our generator tomorrow. After our experience in Richmond, when I was pregnant with Savannah and we were without power for 10 days, he did not want to chance being without power again. He bought the generator a while back, but this is the first time we've felt like we might actually need it. Regardless, I'm sure it is a good investment since this area is pretty much guaranteed to have power outages from storms!
During all our preparations, the parable of the 10 virgins keeps coming to mind. Everyone should be as vigilant in preparing for the Lord's coming as they are for this storm.
Please keep us in your prayers. |

We had an interesting Labor Day weekend.
Saturday, we were invited over to Michael's partner's house to grill out and watch football. We were more than halfway to their house, when he called to cancel. He was on call, and of course, with it being a holiday weekend, he had to go into the hospital. Since we were already out, we decided to go get some lunch.
We finally decided on Sticky Fingers. Before our food came out, Michael broke one of his front teeth--AGAIN! (He just had it fixed a couple of months ago.) He called one of his prostodontist friends, who said he would meet us at his office to fix his tooth. So, we finished eating and headed out to the car to go meet this guy.
I need to back up here. I forgot to tell how Michael insisted we drive the old Wagoneer, since his truck broke down last week. (The car dealership will not be able to look at it until tomorrow. Luckily, it is still under warranty).
Okay, I'm sure you've already guessed--we got out to the Wagoneer, and it wouldn't crank. Michael had to call his friend, who was going to fix his tooth, to come pick us up from the restaurant. He showed up in his brand new Porsche Cayenne. I can only imagine what he was thinking as we all crowded into the back seat like a group of circus clowns.
Anyway, Michael got his tooth fixed, and we went back to the restaurant to wait for another friend to pick me and the kids up. He brought us home, so we could get my car and meet Michael at the car place. Michael got to ride with the tow truck driver. We were on our way to pick him up when he called to let me know that the car started once they had unloaded it at the garage. Yeah, we were a little annoyed--one of us more than the other.
But I must say, the rest of our weekend was great. Sunday was really good. My husband did something really nice for me! But I'm embarassed to say what--it might sound like I'm bragging. :)
Yesterday, we went back to the farm for a picnic and to ride the 4-wheelers. Savannah thought she was hot stuff on the new, hot pink 4-wheeler!
Today, we're just trying to get back to our normal routine. Drake and I went to get gas before picking his sister up from school. He rides on the passenger side, so I rolled down Savannah's window to talk to him as I pumped gas. Since we drove my car out to the farm yesterday, it was really dirty, and I figured I should drive it through the car wash. Drake HATES the car wash. First, the car was soaped up, which Drake handled okay. But once the water started spraying, to rinse the car, he went crazy! It didn't help that I had not rolled the backseat window back up and didn't realize it until water started hitting me in the back.
Anyway, this post is getting way too long. I'm going to dye my hair blonde now. Have a good week!
