My dear "techie" son has already put the sermons on our website! Click to listen! I think you can right click on each one and even save it to your computer if you want to save it or make a quick CD of it!
So far, he has put up "Hell is Real" and "The Conversion of Saul" ...
We have not had a lot of visitors, but we have gotten some. Hope some of you can come tonight at 5:00 p.m.! We have it early so you can get back home early! BTW, I am starting a crockpot of taco soup, so if you are coming, have time, and are hungry afterwards, you can come by the house, too!
Take care!
EDIT >>> Tonight was also very good, and 14 extra came over for taco soup, bean burritos, chili dip, ham & cheese sandwiches, lemon pound cake, spice cake & brownies ...
I can't wait to hear them. We really wanted to come, but it was just not possible at this time. I'm driving out bright and early in the morning to Lake Charles to preach for them tomorrow.
Heath began the meeting last night ... Is Hell Real???
He gave a VERY descriptive picture of what it will be like .... don't want to go!!!!!!
Also, we had to call the AC guy again - the AC started blowing hot air yesterday afternoon. The secretary was looking at his schedule for today and came back on the line and said, "Ron is in route to your house as we speak!" How is that for service??? He has to get a part and will be back today ... The switch for the compressor will sometimes NOT come on, but usually does, so it is staying cool. He said if it did it again to turn it off 5 minutes and then flip it back on (until he fixes it today!)
I wish we could make it also but my sweet husband is sick with this 103.8 fever that came back last night. The fever is now gone and the little bit of nausea also but he still does not feel well.
We are beginning our fall gospel meeting this Thursday with Heath Rogers from Edna, TX ...her husband ...
We will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, but Saturday services are at 5:00 p.m. so people from neighboring congregations (on even further away) can get home at a reasonable hour to be rested for Sunday A.M. services of their own. Or somebody could probably stay with us and come here on Sunday!!!
Anyway, here are the topics!
Thursday 7:30 - "Hell is Real"
Friday 7:30 - "The Conversion of Saul"
Satuday 5:00 - "Will Only Members of the Church of Christ Be Saved?
Sunday 9:30A- "How to Make a Good Decision"
Sunday 10:30A- "Whatever Happened to Sin?"
Sunday 6:00P- "When the Church Grew"
I hope you can come!!!!!!!!!!
~Bettye
AND you could be one of the first to see my new hair ... what color did I pick? ... "red, white and blue" for the election, "green" for the Cubs, "pewter" for the Buccaneers ... or something else??? I won't post a picture until the meeting is over ... Ya'll come to the meeting ... I will be planning coffee and cake (and Dr. Pepper) for after services ...
Would love to come to your meeting!! wish we could! We have one starting the 5th here. Thanks for the link to your website - I am always looking for sermons to download!
but he repositioned Andrew's homeschool satellite anyway. Steve had to climb up on the roof early this evening to make the alignment correct again.
We actually went to stay with dear friends in Bastrop. She gave up her room and slept on a mattress in her room. We finally got a little shower about 10 a.m. ... you wouldn't have known there was a hurricane anywhere around (which was fine with my kiddos)!!!!!!!
I have only heard of some minor damage to property of people we actually know. For that, we are most grateful! Prayers were answered and are still being offered on behalf of those who were affected or are still in harm's way!
There are alligators that live in whatever it is called behind the apartment. I see turtles all the time, and sometimes fish. I havnt seen an alligator yet, but other people have.
Thnank you. I agree that we need to help each other go to heaven. I'm glad that you did not have any worse damage. Although... it would terrify me to have to get up on the roof, much less stand there repositioning a satellite!
I left a message on the Butler's phone. I talked with Jean Aiken after the storm and they were doing okay. Connie and Weldon had some down trees. Everything is running together so I don't remember if there was anything else. I'll let you know when I talk with them. I'm glad that y'all are safe.
