It's been a while since I updated. We, as usual have been rather busy. The kids usually have homework 4 nights a week in addition to special projects. Hubby has been busy with work and studying to preach and teach. The house has not sold, but who is searching for a new house in these "hard times". The media alone has probably scared all our potential buyers away.
Tonight the 5 year old had a tragic evening. On Friday, he and his sister both won goldfish at the FC booster festival. His goldfish had been the more active and excitable, but when I went into his room to get him ready for bed, Jack was no longer with us. He had become rather attached, and has not handled it well this evening. This is the first pet he has ever had, hubby said it will be character building. As of now the other fish is well. But who knows fish seem to be such finicky animals. Kayla was so sweet about it, she says she will now share her fish with him. Hubby has promised him that he can pick out his own fish next time.
Its going to be a busy weekend. We have a field trip to the pumpkin farm here in Shelby county, a singing at fellow Christian's house, and 2 classrooms to decorate at the church building ( the new quarter starts Sunday for us).
Has anyone seen the new Kirk Cameron movie? I am hoping to see it soon, but don't know when I will fit it in. I really would like hubby to go with me, but he says he is chick-flicked out after going to see the Nights in Rodanthe this weekend. It was a very good movie and not near as sad as the Notebook ( written by the same author). I think I am going to get my hair cut like Diane Lane in the movie. I loved how her hair was. I have been letting it grow for over a year, but the time has come to cut it. When I asked hubby what he though of her hairstyle, he said he had thought the same as I had.
Well I better go now. I am waiting for the oldest to get home. Our preacher and his wife took her to Douglass Hills meeting with them tonight.
I have not seen it but saw an interview with him about it where he will only kiss his wife even during acting so for a kissing seen shot in shadows they dressed his wife in the same dress and hairdo as the other actress and he kissed his wife.
Oh the pain of losing a beloved critter. I feel for him. I did a funeral for a hermit crab that had passed away in the Kindergarten classroom in TN. Seems the kids thought a preachers wife singing a song and having a moment of silence over the toilet gave the little critter a proper send off. If stopped their tears. The next day however their weekly reader had a piece about how hermit crabs "hibernate" at times. More tears! We told them that their beloved Hermie had been flushed away and made free. Tears stopped. Awww Kids!!! Gotta luv 'em.
Donnie and I haven't been on a date night in forever so Dathan is leaving today for a 3 day horse ride and I plan on us eating somewhere really good, shopping a little and going to see FIREPROOf! It looks really good and I think you are suppose to see it with your mate so Brian just needs to "bite the dust" and go with you. Donnie hates going to the movies but I really want to see this one.
We saw Fireproof and thought it was excellent! Bring tissue if you're the crying type. I cried thru a lot of it. One of the cleanest adult movies I've ever seen.
our kids suffered thru many pet deaths, but the joy of loving a pet is worth the sadness when they pass.
one year when the kids were small, we went to huber's. sarah and ross each picked out a pumpkin to bring home. we set the pumpkins on the deck. the next morning, i discovered that our beloved lab, cyrus, had decided to use ross' pumpkin as a chew toy during the nite. i knew ross would be sad, so i called john and told him to buy a pumpkin at kroger and we would substitute it for the one that cyrus had eaten. ross would never know the difference. but, ross discovered the missing pumpkin before john had the time to put the duplicate on the deck. ross just had to deal with it. he sure was mad at cyrus!
So far, no luck on the house front. Hubby called the agent yesterday and she said that August is the worst month of the year to try to sell a house. I wish we would have known that about 6 weeks ago!!
Hubby and I are getting ready to teach a new quarter at church. (Well we are currently teaching, but this will be different classes.) I need bulletin board ideas for the book of Ecclesiastes for the teenage class and the book of Acts for K-1st grade. Does anyone have ideas??
The following quarter, hubby and I will be teaching a few weeks in the Men/Ladies class designed by the elders. Does anyone know of some great reference material for me? My topics are: Why was woman made?, Respect and Submit to Husbands, The mother as a disciplinarian, and The Bible's answer to the Feminist Movement. I think that the feminist lesson may be the most difficult one for me, but I have until January to work on them all!!
Yes, I am trying to use all the knowledge I can gain from others. Thanks in advance for your assistance!!
You could have a theme using "Remember thy Creator..."
W/teenagers, you all could discuss different scenarios that require choices and discuss which is keeping God first.
Talk about Timothy?
I never have understood why when I am ill and could really use the rest someone else gets sick. Thus is the case again. Dylan has missed yesterday and today of school with a high fever. The doctor said that he had a nasty looking throat, but the strep was negative. He is doing better today and probably will return to school tomorrow. Then, Caroline comes home today with a 101 fever. I guess it will now make its rounds through the kids.
I called the oral surgeon back today. Last night was the worst night of pain yet and I was pretty concerned. They told me that the 3rd-5th days can be the worst on your jaw muscles, because of all the numbing shots. If I am not better by Friday call back.
We were planning on visiting the new baby in Texas this weekend, but we have had to change plans. Maybe it will work out soon, if not I guess we will meet Molly at Thanksgiving or Christmas!! I really need to learn to not make major trip plans within the first month of school. The kids just pick up everyone else's summer germs.
The Open House went well, but no offers. Five different groups came through to see it, so maybe one will decide to buy.
Well, the best thing I can say about wisdom teeth at this moment is that they will never have to come out again. I went to the oral surgeon yesterday and they easily removed three and fought with the one that absolutely had to come out. I had never had nitrous gas before and I found out that my body doesn't like it, thus I was fully awake throughout the whole procedure. I am somewhat better today as long as I am on pain medicine.
I must praise my husband. He has done a wonderful job of taking care of me. And thanks to my sister and my dad for taking the kids for last night and today. That was very helpful.
We are having an open house to sell our house tomorrow. Not exactly the best timing, since I would like to spend the afternoon in bed, but maybe we will get lucky and get a contract. They showed the house last Saturday and the people loved it. They are still looking at others, but we are on the top of the list.
I must go and push my kids to bed. I am feeling the need for more pain medicine which will put me down for an hour or so.
School is going rather well here. The kids need to be in bed by 8:00 every night, but we haven't quite made that happen yet. Homework has started this week and the routines are becoming normal again.
My sinus infection is gone now, but I have still been having significant jaw pain. So, I went to the dentist today. Not exactly the best visit I have ever had. They diagnosed me with TMJ, fitted me for a mouth guard for sleeping and told me to get a wisdom tooth pulled. Of course, the general rule of thumb is that you should have all 4 pulled, not just one. (because you will never want to go back and have any remaining teeth taken care of). So, I scheduled it for next week. The sooner the better in my opinion. Hubby says that I am falling apart on him, I guess it is just old age!!!
No news on the house yet. On the 24th they are going to have an Open House. (2 days after wisdom tooth removal!) Hopefully that will create some interest.
I hope you all have a great week. Please keep the Ing family in your constant prayers!!
I had 1 side done at a time & it wasn't bad. I think I even went shopping with mom that afternoon. I went to work the next day. I took T. to get his done after we were married. I think he had all 4 done.
i still have my wisdom teeth. and i also have tmj. at one point, they wanted to open up my jaw and operate, but thankfully, my insurance wouldn't cover it. once, my jaw got stuck closed. i had to go to the er and have them unhook it. ouch! i have an appliance that i sleep with too. good luck!
Good luck with the wisdom teeth, I had all of mine cut out... but not all four at one time. The bottom two first and then five years later my top one. One good thing is they usually give really good pain medication and you'll sleep alot!! Oh don't read my latest post.... I had a bad dentist experience last week... might not be the thing to read right now!!
