Well, last weekend came and went too fast for me. I had a wonderful time with Mike. I flew in to VA Friday evening. On Saturday we spent the whole day at Busch Gardens. It was great! We rode all the roller coasters. The first one made me feel a little old but my body adjusted quickly and the rest were okay. Well, okay in that they didn’t make me feel like my body was breaking down. Not okay in that some of them scared me to death. One in particular but once it was over, I realized it was more fun than I thought it would be. Here is the description from the park's website: Set amid a French village, Griffon carries riders up 205 feet, then hurtles them 90 degrees straight down at 70 mph. And that’s just the beginning.
Yes, it says 90 degree drop. Luckily I was allowed to pick which row we sat in because if it had been left up to someone else, we would have been on the front row. Even still, there were only three rows. And it dangles you over the edge for a few seconds before it drops you. (Okay, so I closed my eyes for the drop. I'm such a chicken. lol)
To help take a break from the heat, we sat in an air conidtioned building watching "Emerald Beat" an Irish dance show. Wish I could move my feet that fast. We also took a nice rest in the evening sitting back and enjoying the songs of the Four Tops in concert.
The whole day was a blast!
On Sunday we went to church and then spent the rest of the day hanging out. We ate at Chili’s (my favorite place) that evening and watched some movies. Monday I spent most the day trying to block out of my mind the fact that we won’t see each other again until Christmas. The whole weekend was wonderful; I just wish it lasted longer.
I flew out that afternoon and got home in time to go straight to bed and wake up to go back to work the next day. Blah.
So it is back to the usual routine. School is going great. I don’t know how I always end up with the best class in the grade level. I have lots of very involved parents this year. The kids are good, and we are having a lot of fun.
Camryn is enjoying her new preschool. She has learned so much in the month she has been there. She is learning all the things I used to teach to my pre-k kids. She has made a new best friend, more like a new partner in crime. They have a love hate relationship. j/k They get along great and then next thing you know, they are throwing punches at each other. lol Needless to say, she spends a little time in ‘time out’ each day at preschool. We had a nice, long conversation about hitting the other day, and it seemed to help because she implemented “the plan” on Thursday and Friday and didn’t have to sit out for hitting. She did, however, sit out for throwing her snack at another kid’s face. Ahhhh it never ends, does it?
Have a great rest of the weekend and a wonderful week!

Can I just start out by saying only six more days until we get to see each other again!! I am soooo excited!!! It was 3 months ago that I was there and it will be four months until he comes here. So this next weekend really means a lot to me. :)
Now...school. Well, we had our “Meet and Greet” Friday late afternoon for the kiddos to come in and meet their teacher and see their new classroom. I had 19 out of 21 students show up. Let me just say, that is a record in the 8 years I have been teaching. That lets me know I have parents who care about their child’s education and should be helpful in working with me to help them have a successful year. I have 13 girls and 8 boys. That is unusual. In the past it has been fairly even.
I am really looking forward to the new school year. Last year was my first year teaching 1st grade so I felt like I was still learning the ropes after teaching Pre-K for 6 years. This year I feel like it will be easier. I also have some exciting new things I want to do this year. So if I can just get through Monday. The first day is always the hardest.
Then I just have to get through a few more days until I will be off to VA for the weekend! YAY!!!!!!! I’m having a hard time containing my excitement. ;)
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Well this week flew by quickly. My brother and his family came in on Sunday. We have enjoyed spending time together. Camryn loves playing with her two cousins.
I went to my classroom on Monday and began trying to put it back together. At the end of each year they make us empty book shelves and pack away anything on the floor or counters for summer cleaning. I was able to get a lot accomplished but began to stress out because I was told we wouldn’t be able to enter our hallway on Tuesday or Wednesday. They were behind on waxing the floors since they were short two custodians this summer. So I did not return until yesterday and was actually able to finish everything I was wanting to get done before inservice starts this coming Monday.
I also received my class list. Looks good. :) I have three kids I taught when they were in Pre-K, and I also have three teachers’ kids. I took that as a compliment since I know teachers get to request who they want for their child’s teacher. However it did make it awkward this week when the other 3 first grade teachers found out they were all placed in my room.
On Wednesday my mom took my brother, his family, Camryn, and me to Sea World. We had a great time. The kids were wonderful and very well behaved (are they ever any different *wink wink). And we lucked out with the heat…it wasn’t too bad at all. Camryn was ecstatic that she was able to touch a dolphin. I just wish I had been able to get a picture of her actually touching it. Hard to hold on to keep her from jumping in the water and take a picture at the same time. Lol
I am excited that 3 weeks from right now I will be visiting VA for Labor Day weekend!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!! I can’t wait!!!!! It's been a long 3 months. :)

The trip was great! It was nice to get out of here for awhile and especially nice to visit family. The actual drive there and back wasn’t too bad. Camryn was perfect. No temper tantrums. She kept herself entertained the whole time. I didn’t even need the dvd player after all. And the trip seemed to go faster since I was actually driving rather than being the passenger. All I can say for the drive and Camryn’s behavior…Yay!
It was nice to be with my dad’s family. I have 3 stepbrothers and 3 stepsisters. 5 out of the 6 actually live in the same town as my dad. We got together one night and cooked out and let the kids swim. There are lots of kids. My dad and stepmom were asked how many grandkids they have (because they have 3 on the way)…there will be a total of 18 by the end of this year! That’s a lot if you ask me.
So Monday it will be back to preschool for Camryn and back to work for me. My brother, his wife, and two kids are coming into town some time tomorrow (driving from South Carolina). They will be here for two weeks. I haven’t seen them in a year and a half. I am excited that they are coming. They have been trying to come all summer but it just hasn’t worked out until now.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

By this time tomorrow, Camryn and I will be half way to Oklahoma to visit family. It's usually a nine hour drive but that doesn’t factor in “potty stops” for a 3 year old. I have never even driven that far. The longest time I have ever driven was 6 hours but that was by myself. The longest time I have ever driven with Camryn was 2 hours away (and she wasn't even a year old so she slept the whole time). This will be an adventure. I am trying to be optimistic and reassuring myself that things will go just fine. But then I picture my rambunctious little girl being confined in a carseat for over nine hours…that’s cruel and unusual punishment for her. ;)
I think I have packed everything I will need to help make the trip go smoothly:
Portable dvd player with Finding Nemo, Little Mermaid, several episodes of Dora the Explorer, Little Bill, Max and Ruby, Lazy Town, Blue’s Clues, and the list goes on and on. I don’t plan on using it the whole time but I wanted to have a variety of shows to please her ever changing mind.
Snacks-lots and lots of snacks. I even put them in little individual Ziploc baggies to make it more convenient for me to toss behind me to the backseat. lol
Small ice chest with water and apple juice. This will be limited to help cut back on the “potty breaks” ;)
Sony Walkman MP3 player that I just bought. I am frustrated because I am having ‘issues’ downloading songs from the internet because I am one of the few people who still uses dial-up (gotta love country livin’).
Books and toys. I actually went and bought a few books that Camryn has never seen in the hopes that it will keep her entertained for more than 5 minutes. I also got one of those huge Magnadoodle things. She loves to draw pictures of Mommy, the cat, and herself.
My TomTom….so I don’t lose my way. ;)
And of course I have our luggage and emergency contact numbers. And YAY! for the one year free service of Onstar. I have a fear of breaking down on the side of the rode.
I’m sure there is something I’m forgetting and it will probably come to me when I am miles away from home.
Please keep us in your prayers for a safe trip (and patience for me). We will be returning next Friday.
