So...what did you think of the Republican's Vice President candidate? I have to say I was quite impressed. Terms that come to mind are "poised," "graceful," "genuine," and "intelligent." She can certainly be biting when she wants to be. If I was Senator Obama watching her speech tonight, I would feel quite small.
I'm torn in that I have never been gung-ho about a woman in a leadership position such as this. But...if she can handle it without it tearing up her family, I think I'm on board with this woman, so far. She has a cute little girl. Did anyone else see the little girl lick her hand and plaster her little brother's hair down with her saliva? It was so cute!
I also am impressed with her resume. If you want true conservatism in the White House, it looks to me like this is it. I have not been impressed with Senator McCain's economic positions so far, but if he's willing to bring in a partner who is interested in cutting taxes and cutting government and all the other things she mentioned in her speech tonight, it makes me a little happier with him.
Of course, my main concern is on the moral side of things. Both McCain and Palin impress me as being closer to the morals my God expects than either Obama or Biden. This is a big deal to me. Let's say I have two candidates. I agree with candidate 1 on all his economic and foreign policy standings, but he does not adhere to Biblical morality. I don't agree with candidate 2 on all his economic and foreign policy standings, but he stands for true morality. I will vote for candidate 2. One is a question of human wisdom. The other is a question of God's wisdom. I would much rather vote for someone who believes in God and tries to follow His laws.
In the end, I firmly believe my God is in control. It doesn't matter that the nations rage and the people plot vain things. God laughs at men's plans. (Psalm 2)
Okay, so I got a little off topic. Sarah Palin. What did you think?
So far, I like her. I will say that I had zero, yes zero, interest in this election for various reasons until now. This has peaked my curiosity and awakened the political ounce in my body.
I like that they are up front about the whole Bristol/Levi relationship and the united front they present. Of course, that she is conservative is a must.
Well, you probably know me well enough to know how I feel about women with children working outside the home as a general rule. However, I have a strange slant of sorts when it comes to these sorts of things. I just don't hold unbelievers to God's standards. I know Biblical standards are for everyone, don't get me wrong...But, I don't expect the unconverted to act converted...It's late and this might be rambling...
I am confident that God is in control, like you mention, and I'm not losing any sleep over this. I think Sarah is a good thing. We'll see what happens...
I totally agree with what you said above.... the thing that concerns me... is HOW can "Christians" ever vote for someone or a party that supports PRO-CHOICE and Gay Rights.... to me that just blows my mind... I definitely think McCain-Palin are the answer this time around... especially for those holding on to their religion and their guns.
I agree with you. I was very impressed by her and what she stands for. Yet I am also don't believe women were meant to run our country.
Yes our God is in control but it still scares me to think of what could happen if Obama made it into office.
I also agree with his statement. How can we vote for someone who is Pro-choice or for Gay rights when that goes completely against God's will for mankind?
My first impression was, "I like this woman!" Farther into her speech she said a few things I questioned, but my over all impression is that she had a lot of common sense as a governor and she will bring that common sense with her to the vice presidency. And if we ever have a female president, she'd be a good candidate.
I didn't get to see her... we were out late. *sigh* But I heard that she did an awesome job. I'll have to catch it on youtube or something later. I'm with you on the voting, though.
I totally love her! I praise God for bringing hope to America, and to this election! I DID see that little girl slick down her brother's hair like that...I thought it was an adorable gesture of love! I love how you can see that the WHOLE family loves that baby! Obviously Sarah Palin lives what she claims to believe regarding special needs babies, to have helped her children understand his needs and to accept him so well and so lovingly!
I would be quite honored to illustrate your children's book for you! :) However, you must be warned that I take a good bit of time to draw. :) (If I hurry too fast, I mess up whatever I'm working on. :)
Yes, I took them during a college photojournalism class. I generally ended up taking photos of flowers even if my assignment was sports or architecture. :)
politics aside, I'm skeptical of a woman's ability to do a job like this without sacraficing the needs of her family. I just don't feel like it's quite "right" for a woman to be in this kind of position.
My oldest son just turned five. One day he was four, the next he was five. It was pretty amazing.
He received a batmobile from his Uncle Seth and Aunt Natalie, which he loves. He puts Batman to bed every night before his bedtime. Just a few minutes ago, Batman shot off the couch.
"Ahh! I need my Batman!" he said to the room in general. I just looked at him. We are attempting to teach the principle of ASKING FOR HELP instead of whining or complaining or just stating something is wrong.
I asked, "How do you think you will get it back?" I immediately thought of two options: 1) He could ASK me to get it for him or 2) He could get down and get it himself. I waited for him to choose.
"X, get that for me," he demanded of his little brother, who promptly grabbed the batmobile and flipped it back onto the couch.
Possible morals of the story:
There's almost always an option C.
Seek to leverage available resources.
There's almost always a way to remain seated and get what you want. And don't be surprised if it comes at you a little faster than you expect...
Have you ever seen those textbook pictures where a human embryo is shown in each developmental stage and a reptile or bird or amphibian embryo is shown alongside and they look almost identical? Evolutionists are quick to point out this is evidence for evolution because people look exactly like salamanders immediately after conception. Of course, creationists look at the same evidence and see a high level of design in the universe.
So...I have discovered my daughter is further evidence for the evolutionist on at least two accounts. The first one I noticed a few weeks ago. My daughter is just like a slug.
1. Slugs have only one foot, which they use to get around. My daughter used only one foot for a while to push herself around.
2. And the clincher was: slugs leave a slime trail...and SHE leaves a slime trail! I know...amazing parallel, right?
The second similarity I noticed yesterday, and this one is much stronger because it relates back even farther than slugs (at least, I think that's what the evolutionists say). My daughter is just like a velocirapter!
1. She will be looking all sweet and precious and I'll be going in for a kiss and ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE LASHES OUT WITH BOTH TALONED HANDS AND RIPS MY FACE OFF! Those little nails are sharp. And, of course, she grins the whole time.
2. She sounds just like a velociraptor. Okay, so I'm getting their sound from Jurassic Park, but that's pretty much how she sounds. It's a high-pitched shriek which makes you want to drop to the ground and hold your head in your hands. Then she starts scooting towards you with her one foot for the kill...
Who would have thought my daughter would be fodder for the evolutionists?
It took me a few minutes to get control of myself in order to be able to type.
She does use 2 feet now, you know. What does that do to your theories. You're dead on for the slime, the shriek, and the talons, of course.
:-)
love you.
*grins* What do you know? ;) However adorable the slug is, it has nothing on the pure sweetness of dear little chubby-cheecked, velociraptor-clawed Kaia. :D
Love the post. Thanks for the encouragement on the "new look". It really started out as an accident, but it may stick around for a while (partly because I have no choice).
Well, apparently no one is interested in this whole RSS thing. Or maybe it's because nobody knew what do to with the links I posted. Let me try this again making everything into links so you just have to "click to subscribe" kind of thing.
I would still love to hear what your favorite RSS feeds are, if you are already using it.

Which application should I choose? Google, yahoo, live bookmarks? I don't know if I choose Live bookmarks will that still all be in one place? How do I find them if they are in one place. A little help please :)
I'm interested ... just trying to deal with work, incoming tropical storm, health insurance, etc. ... I hope to come back to it later when I can pay closer attention to what you've written. :)
What application should you use? I use Google Reader, which is great, because it keeps all the content online. If you use the built-in RSS readers in Internet Explorer or Firefox, it keeps track of what you read only on your specific computer. If you, like I do, work some from home and some from another location, it's nice to have a single locations (i.e. Google Reader) to keep track of your reading. Yahoo is probably similar.
Now that we have had a brief introduction into RSS (see previous post, if you want a quick overview), let's take a look at some interesting and helpful RSS feeds.
