Still alive 07-05-08 10:50pm EST

Well, I have taken a little bit of time away from the computer. I have been contemplating cleaning out my friends list. I want everyone who visits to comment or at least leave me some kind of "sign" so that I don't clear off the ones who read but don't comment normally.

This month is such a busy month for us. The girls have some summer camps, family vacation to Gatlinburg with my parents, finally getting those doctor's/dentists appointments in that we need, checking on the house progress (not much real change on the outside), Brian's business trip, time at my parents, preparing for my mom's big surgery (you can read about it on her blog), and trying to keep up with the regular things. So, if you were wondering about me and the family, we are here but busy.

Oh, we also got a new couch (sectional) a week or two ago. It was a big challenge. We had to make two trips to get it here and then it was SO hard getting it in the tiny apartment! We had help from a neighbor. You have to love the military people. So willing to volunteer to help a neighbor! So, if you are wondering, the apartment living room is pretty much full of the couch. The one thing that surprised me most, we bought it at Big Lots! I wouldn't have thought of there to buy furniture but we happened to be there looking for something else a month or so ago and we saw the couch. Then, I talked Brian into going back and checking it out again. Well, it was still there and we even got the one from the back still wrapped up. We hope that this couch will last. We had our last one that we bought used from a friend for 10 years. As long as the cat doesn't tear it up, we will be good.

Oh, on the 4th we went to a local fireworks thing. Before it, they had some things to do. Well, the girls and I took a hay ride. This girl got on as we were about to go and she had a camera with her. She took some pictures and I knew she was snapping some of myself and my girls who were facing her. Then as the ride ended, she asked for our names and told us she is with the local small town paper! We might be pictured in the paper!! I guess next week, I will be looking to see if we made it in. Otherwise, we will have to check out their website. We will be there, she said.

Okay, well, I better get ready for bed. I hope that everyone has a glorious Lord's day!

I try to read it. :) Actually, we've bought furniture at Big Lots - you can find some pretty nice stuff at low prices.

mtnest

I'm still here. :)

batidw

I read, just don't comment a lot.

jaimer

please keep me on your list

carawatsonfranklin

Wow! Your month does sound busy!

girl_husted

Our Big Lot's has some really great furniture. A friend of mine bought a couch there a few years back and it's still in good condition.

tucksmom

I'm usually checking on you... just not commenting much.

chickadee

I'm anxious to see the pictures. It has been soo many years since I have been on a hayride.

matkins

Hello..I just got on your list..you better not delete me. LOL :)

stitchinmom

No, I rode them last time, though. I stayed on the dune buggies!

flowerpower

Hope you had a great 4th, we did. :) Don't delete me either, you know I read and occasionally write...Good deal with the couch, I hope it lasts too.

ucnclmeal

I don't always comment, but I do read. :)

saricbradley

I've had to catch up for a few days, glad the house is coming along so well1 Pictures look lovely! I know it is exciting to see everything coming along. My parents bought their den furniture at Big Lots a couple of years ago. It isn't the typical place to buy furniture, but it is nice and looks great. It is comfortable too.

sarahtidwell

I read your blog but usually try to comment. Leave me on.

smiley_beth

We enjoyed being with your brother and his family this week/weekend. You are brave buying a couch before your house is done. I understand a good deal though.

deewatson

I love going to Big Lots every once in a while. You never know what you might find, and I usually find something that I've been looking for that you can't find anywhere else. My mom just bought a very nice big Broyhill chest of drawers for my oldest there as well. I like the cowgirl look, by the way.

jenlew21

I so know the feeling!! Waiting, waiting, waiting, so in the meantime get something new!! ;)

tortilla

sound busy! love the hat up there! funny about the sectional. those things are huge, but so comfy! ;) i will keep your mom in my prayers!

texaslady

I bought my mahogany chairs at big lots and they are still in great condition :)

bbeasley

Yep, I got lots of laundry done - 3 loads I think! Now I need to put it all away.

sarahphim

Yay for new furniture! We're waiting til our kids are a little older to buy furniture, too. No point in getting something now that's just going to get peed or thrown-up on!

WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!! 04-09-08 12:19pm EST

If you are wondering, I got a call yesterday from the perk test guy. We met him today at the lot. Yes, that quick, today!! Well, from the title I guess you know what he said. WE CAN BUILD!!! So, now I have already talked to our realtor about closing on the land and then Brian called the builder and left him a message. I am thrilled to say the least!

As a side note, my sickie is well. Her fever slowly went to normal yesterday. The times we checked it her temp read as follows, 99.9, 99.7, 99.3, 98.6. It was very strange that it did that but she is fine now. Anyway, I figured I would update with the great news! Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Be sure and take pictures every step of the way. It will be fun to look at years later. We took a picture before we cleared the land, when the footers were being poured, walls up ,etc..... It is really a neat keepsake!

is my mom's birthday. Please be so kind as to wish her a happy birthday!!! Thanks, she appreciates it!!

Recently heard 03-06-08 12:14am EST

I was just sitting here watching the news and I heard something. It made me think. Most of us parents know of the Code Adam thing. Well, recently, my family and I were at Wal-Mart shopping. While we were walking down an aisle I thought that I heard an announcement. I tried to listen because for the first time, the announcements were hard to hear. Well, I caught a couple key words, "Code Adam." I poked my husband and told him. My heart was in my throat as I look at my girls all right by us and just pray that the child is found. We wandered around, with our kids very close until we heard the great news of "Cancel Code Adam!" So, I don't know if the store really locked down. I am glad that it worked or at least the child was found! Hug your kids!

crazy_mama

How scary. We were with some friends at the mall and lost one of their kids for almost an hour and it was in the main area of the mall. There were several stores adn exits and there were so many things going through our minds. When he ws finally found on the other side of the mall we were so relieved. The sad thing was I was shocked over the fact that no one would help us. It was right around closing time and people at the stores just wanted to leave. We were all screaming his name and calling for him and others just walked by and didn't stop to help. Not one person helped us. It was really frustrating. Glad this situation worked out.

lyndie

Oh I know... I've had that happen twice at our local Walmart. I can't help but stop shopping and start watching for a lone kid or a kid with an adult that doesn't "seem right". So scary!

gkbaker

I work at Walmart, and it really is a pretty big deal when that happens. Manaagers go to every door and watch for the child. Employees all over the store are looking for him/her. Everything stops to find that child.

zanne

I hadn't heard that before. But that is scary!!

jenlew21

YIKES!!

matidwell

I never heard of Code Adam.

nagmich

^ Me either.

jay

thinks for alerting me to Frederic's blog. I was debating going down there, but just can't swing it. It brings back a lot of memories. :o)

all_gods_children

I'm with the others, I've never heard of that term. Maybe it's only a local term? I'm glad that they found the child. I get scared when my little ones take off without me and I have to run after them.

marchmadness

I have been there before when it was called. There is always such a sense of relief when it is cancelled. It would be so horrific to lose a child.

jenlew21

You got it!! :) How is your hunting going? :)

quincysmom

About 15 years ago I was in Walmart here when they called a Code Adam. Of course everyone begins to look at everyone as suspicious. Then all of the sudden I see my brother looking panicked. It was his 2 year old son - my nephew. While everyone was looking for abductors, I started looking around clothes racks and calling his name. Lo and behold, he poked his little head from the rack of clothes. What a relief!

chemo_brain

hey. I'm really sorry I just added you as a friend. I have been a little behind lately. I worked at Wal-Mart for a long time and announcing those Code ADAM's on the PA was really hard. I could never describe the child correctly because the parents were hysterical.

jenlew21

Yep, I know the feeling!! Hopefully soon for both of us! :)

chemo_brain

Thank you for telling me about Jack! He was such an encouragement to me. There are many days that I think about the fun we had with those temp agency jobs. My eyes were sure opened many times. I know I was blessed by knowing him.

collinsmama

I'm feeling good- thanks for asking! Things are so crazy right now- I need to update on my blog!

jay

I am glad he got to meet them. I debated long and hard, but God kind of made my decision for me (in reference to travelling to TN). The snow just whipped me... Did y'all get any of it (rain), or was it just a news moment?\

mjunut

that is unnerving. Mine always stayed close because I would shamelessly scream their name by the 3rd call.

seainme

Oh that is so scary!! Definitely makes you pull your kids closer to your side in the store. I am still paranoid in public and my oldest son is 10.

bbeasley

I actually found one last night as the girls were getting into bed. It was in the basket where we keep her diapers. I was really surprised she hadn't found it when she goes to get us a diaper. We had one more in the diaper bag, but can't find that one either. So hopefully I'll find that first too.

drgann

jay and carol conner are nathan's aunt and uncle...although he has quite a few aunts and uncles.=)

Mystery disease 01-28-08 09:06pm EST

Is now gone. We got up this morning and she was fever free!!!! We had a busy day otherwise but yes, the mystery will stay that way. Thanks for the concerns. I wasn't really worried because my kids seem to get these mystery illnesses that don't get passed around but just come and go. Now, I must go and pack up everything in sight. Anyone want to do it for me??
