Singing at McCay! 11-03-08 08:55am CST
For anyone in the Birmingham area who might be interested, there will be a singing Friday night, November 7 at 7 pm at McCay Avenue CoC, Oneonta, Alabama. We are a small congregation and would be so encouraged to have any visitors come!
prov3110How far are you from say - Vestavia? or Huffman? I doubt we'd be able to come, but either of the two distances would give me a better frame of reference when/if I ask Don.
prov3110I don't know. There might be a funeral later this week - one of the older members at Vestavia is not doing well at all. I don't know if I'll be able to make the funeral, but if I do and it coincides with the singing - I'll try to be there.
bumbly77the gifted kids are great!!!!!!!!!!!! i have been teaching them this year and they are such special kiddos!! i hope mine love me as much as mike loved his!
megOh, if it were in one month!!! I'd love to go--but I've had to learn my limitations right now.
stampergirlDid you send me an ecard? Somebody whose email begins with cabinhome sent me one. It sounds vaguely familiar and you are the only one I could think of who lives in a cabin. But I don't want to open it without finding out first. Please let me know. Thanks, Charlene
auntjennywrenCharlene, it is from Cheryl Breon. :)
lastoflakewoodIt was my mom's dad.

I just wanna know why! 10-24-08 08:26pm CST
I live in one of the only dry counties in Alabama. For those of you who may not know what that means...no alcohol sales. On November 4th there will be a referendum so we can vote on whether the county stay dry or go wet. Of course, I will be voting to stay dry. But here's the thing that just gets on my last nerve...why is it that whenever there is anything that has to do with some vice (a/k/a SIN) such as drinking or gambling they have to tie it to the school children? Every referendum concerning the legalization of gambling or sales of alcohol drags the kids in by using the excuse that these things will generate income to be used in the schools. I do believe this is a big bunch of BALONEY!!! Every other county in the state that has alcohol and/or gambling still has money issues in their schools! UGH! I just hate it!!!! They need to leave the kids out of their sordid campaigns!
stampergirlI agree!
charDido!
auntjennywrenJustification. Here it's the lottery.
megTrue. The lottery paid for our college in Georgia.
nthnswmnoh, how cute! Do you have pictures?

This cracks me up! 09-10-08 03:59pm CST
So American Airlines has installed WiFi on their planes so that passengers can access the internet while in flight. The flight attendants have expressed concern that some passengers may access pornography leading to problems on flights and have requested that American Airlines install filters. American Airlines has denied that request stating that they are sure passengers will use good judgment....hahahahahahahahahahahaha! Aren't some of these passengers the same ones that drink themselves senseless before boarding then fight with anyone who dares confront them? They are SURE they will use good judgment? I'm dying here!
mreid72That will be one of the first things done with that new WiFi service, and they'll see the flight attendants are right.
silleylimeI miss you!!!! You really need to come visit us! :)
ashuleeYep, it's the same Dan Brown. I'm not sure he's a big fan (or believer in) God, but I could be wrong.
nthnswmnI miss you and your crazyness. :-)
love you
auntjennywrenHey you! Our newlyweds are doing great. It is taking me some getting used to, though, watching them drive off and realize, Alan isn't bringing her back home later! :) It's all good!
looneyg8rYes, I thought of you when I was working on it. You showed incredible "true joy" through some extremely tough circumstances!
stampergirlAnd aren't these also the same people who hijack planes?
carpecollumNo problem, Cindy. I'll get someone else to cover your Zim folks next month :-) Thanks for being a part of it!
ashuleeNot that I've totally given up on naps. What else are you supposed to do on Sunday afternoon in the fall? Fall asleep during a football game, of course!
71lespaulcustomYes, he is.
karenbaizeWe miss you (and Matt and Katie and Slaten) too!!! Tell them we think of them often, and I've missed Slaten in class. It was great to see his happy face and watch him get so excited when we'd sing.
megAaah! I wish you'd stopped in!!! That would have been GREAT!

True Story 07-17-08 06:19pm CST
I caught Slaten playing with the telephone, so I took it from him and hung it up. A little while later a sheriff's deputy showed up at my door...the little stinker had managed to dial 911. Life is going to be an adventure with this one! LOL
mreid72Ha!
dbalentineAWESOME!!! Way to go Slaten. When you get a chance to talk, you'll have to ask your grandmother what all she did that drove her mom and dad crazy. I'm sure you could talk for hours!!!
chachabooMy little stinker of a nephew... too cute!
mamanemAlright Slaten!!! I know it gives you great comfort to know Slaten knows what to do in an emergency.
auntjennywrenLOL! We had a similar experience with Josh. The police dept. called and questioned me thoroughly!
nthnswmnA toddler did that once when I was babysitting.
nthnswmnI'm impressed the police were on the ball on responding, though. Peace of mind on that one.
looneyg8rBaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahah!
charThat's hilarious!!! :D
racheloh my! Better watch him!
stampergirlOh my! One time I heard of a toddler who dialed somewhere...started with 1, 2, 3 and so on and since one dials long distance, they made quite a call.
auntjennywrenIt was a perfectly beautiful wedding! I know you would have been there if you could. I understand. :) There will be tons more pictures later. I'll have them on the wedding website when they're done.
chachabooI know it was not an easy decision for them to make. It is just very hard for me not having my sister close and now Katie. I know they are just doing what is best for them. I know everything is going to be fine I am just having a hard time right now.
looneyg8rIll kick fay over your way...any day...haha!
auntjennywrenThank you for the birthday wishes!! 48 is not so bad!! So far, so good. LOL!
chachabooWe did have a good visit with M & K. The boys played together a little... or course Slaten took his size to his advantage! :) He was not liking the fact that Drake was playing with his toys. :) They are both too cute!

What a blessed day 06-15-08 07:57pm CST
I haven't posted in a long time and after reading Charlene's comment on my last post, I realized that indeed my latest blogs have been filled with heavy news. So even though I have plenty of trials affecting me right now, I refuse to post anything negative! Today was a beautiful day and I got to spend it with my favorite people...my family and God's people. I hope everyone else had a wonderful day as well.

Slaten is growing so fast. It's hard to believe he will be 1 in just a few short weeks! No walking yet, but he's trying to pull himself up without holding on to anything. I think it's only a matter of time before he's all over the place...oh wait, he's already all over the place! He's got that one legged, one kneed crawl down pat. He spied himself from a distance in the mirrored glass of the nursery window at church this evening and was waving at himself and saying, Hey! Hey! He loves to tell everyone hey and give them a big wave. He's a friendly guy...just like his Honey.

I hope y'all have a fabulous week! Each day is a gift from God so let's treat them that way!

Hugs,
Cindy
mreid72Can't wait to see Slaten and the rest of y'all. Unfortunately, it will be Christmas before I can come, but Lisa and the kids will probably be flying up there at some point this summer.
kountrykatJust wanted to say Hi! Sorry that you are facing trials, but your positive attitude is an encouragement to me! Isn't it amazing how our family and God's people help us through our trials!! I'd love to see you again sometime if you'd like to get together and catch up. You can see how big my sweet Rebecca has gotten!
auntjennywrenHope things start turning around soon! Seems that you are busy counting your blessings though. :) Number 1 - Slaten! I know ya'll are just enjoying that sweetie so much!
stampergirlWow! It seems like only yesterday you were announcing Slaten's birth!!
