I believe that mealtime could be hilarious for all of you. I know your family! Not only that, I came from a big family and mealtimes were great times together.
awww... my absolute favorite Miriam in the world (hmmm, the only Miriam I know... minor detail) posted about chili and mealtimes and family. I like those times.
"Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” -Mark 9:23, 24

I heard so many great lessons and studies this weekend.
Friday night, I was in a study about friends and what Proverbs has to say about them. It was helpful. And I definitely want to be "chief friends" with people. :) hahaha, that phrase is used in one or two of the verses, and I like it.
Saturday morning, we had our EZ classes. (Ezra and Ezekiel) Those were good. There were a couple things in Ezra 6 that really struck me. First of all, in 6:8-"They assigned the priests to their divisions and the Levites to their divisions, over the service of God in Jerusalem, as it is written in the Book of Moses."
It says specifically that their priests were LEVITES, as they were supposed to be! What a huge contrast to 1 Kings 12:31-"He made shrines on the high places, and made priests from every class of people, who were not of the sons of Levi."
(Talking about Jeroboam and how he changed the worship.)
What a great thing to see that the people were trying to follow exactly what God's commands were and not stray even a "little" bit.
The second thing that struck me was in 6:21-"Then the children of Israel who had returned from the captivity ate together with all who had separated themselves from the filth of the nations of the land in order to seek the LORD God of Israel."
This is exactly what we should do! We should "separate" ourselves from the world. Of course, we need to try to convert and help those in the world, but we can't be living with them.
Saturday evening, Dad taught the Mark class. We were in Mark 9. After talking about the transfiguration, he taught us about the demon-possessed boy and how the disciples couldn't cast it out. But one of my favorite sciptures is the one that I have at the beginning. It seems like such a contradictory statement by the father, but it gives me and, I'm sure others, so much hope and encouragement. Our faith is going to waver at times, but we need to keep going and never give up.
Dad preached a really good sermon on helping needy saints this morning, but I know I've already written a lot. ;) Maybe I'll tell about it in another post. I hope it hasn't bored you and please don't feel compelled to read it all! Again, pat yourself on the back if you do. :)
Have a blessed rest of your Lord's day and week...
...even if you lose like 7 times to the girl you're babysitting. ;P oh well, at least I won a few...
In other "news," I've been reading "Silas Marner" for school. It's pretty good, but very different language than I'm used to, so it took a little while to get used to it. :) But now I'm into the story and enjoying it. I'm going to read the last chapter today.
Last night, when I came home, I walked inside, and smelled brownies. I was right. ;)
Yesterday morning while fixing Lydia's pancake for breakfast, she told me... "Hey Miriam?"
"Yes, Lydia?"
"After my pancake, I'm going to have ranch dressing with salad and tomatoes and croutons with my salad."
While a lot of you were out trick-or-treating (or sword fighting or healing, last Friday we went to Chucke Cheese. Han had to work, so after she was done, we picked up her, and the baby and the dad of the baby she babysits for. It was fUn! I hadn't been to Chucke's in a while, since St. Louis (sniff*), and I love the games, tubes, and pizza there! It was a good evening...
Hope everyone has a swell day today--don't forget to stop and say a prayer for the elections and all involved.
Well, despite not making it out to PA with us, it looks like you had fun anyway. :} I haven't been in one of those indoor maze/tube things in a loooong time, although I think I must be too old by now for them. ;(
yeah, me and Melanie went and saw it last night and we loved it :] It was about this husband and wife whose marrige was falling apart, but then it gets saved and the way it does is super cuteeee, but like it is AMAZING. I def think you should go see it.
1 "The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor." (Is. 61)
^ iii - Anyway, I had fun in my costume. Dan Bunting was making fun of me all night for being too gallant and, you know, Westley-ish. But, it was good, haha. ;]
