If you're checking my blog you may be thinking finally, the news of the baby, but not yet. She just doesn't want to come out. It must be this cool weather we've been having. In the mean time, let's kill some time and have some fun. Which of the following names do you think is best?
I know it has been a long time. If you have not already seen it, there are some videos of the baby on my wife's blog. We're finishing packing tonight for our first vacation of the year. Tomorrow we're heading up to Hilton Head Island, SC for three nights. Disney has a resort up there that we have heard is wonderful so of course we have to check it out. Then on Wednesday, we're heading up to the "mountains" of Tennessee. Of course, they'll probably seem more like hills to someone who grew up in Colorado. We'll be there three nights as well.
I hope you and your family have a great holiday weekend and lets all remember to be thankful for those who have fought and some that gave their lives for the freedoms we all enjoy.
One of our resolutions this year is to get our finances in order. It's not that they have been out of control, but we just want to see where all of the money is going and get our debts paid off.
One place we decided to start saving money is on the TV. We currently have Dish Network which we absolutely love, but with the baby and so much other stuff going on, we do not watch near as much. I decided to test our outdoor antenna (that came with the house) a few nights ago and found that it wasn't that great. Although we recently got a new HDTV and decided to see if we could get any of those stations. Surprisingly there are quite a few stations in our area. We were only able to pick up one major network, ABC, which came in crystal clear. We started searching the internet to find more information on digital TV. We found that it can be picked up with any antenna and we even found a website that you put your address in and it tells you how far away the station towers are and what quality antenna to get. After much research we decided to get a new antenna at Radio Shack. I climbed on the roof and hooked it up last night and then came in to see what channels we got. Very much to our excitement we now get all four major networks, ABC, CBS, NBC & Fox, as well as CW, PBS and about 20 other channels that we didn't even know existed.
The digital stations are perfectly clear and the shows broadcast in HD are spectacular and even clearer than the satellite. We live over 40 miles from most of the Orlando area stations and even pick up a few Tampa stations as well. It's just hard to believe that we can get this quality of TV without a monthly fee. Sure the antenna cost a little, but it will nearly be paid for with just one month of Dish service. Sure we'll miss the Disney Channel and TNT, but I think we will survive. Let me know if you have any questions about digital TV. I'm definitely a strong supporter.
My parents do that with their HDTV and it works great! We haven't had any pay-services for tv, but will have to buy a new antenna out here now that we live further out. That's ok with us, since like you said, it's cheaper in the long run!
Great. I just started playing single player races and am hoping to be get my code and all in the next few days. I want a bit of practice first. I will keep you informed.
Things are going very well at the Lungstrum house. As usual, lots of busy time and very little time to relax. Although we do take some every now and then. JC has been doing great, he continues to grow and grow. I guess that's what babies do. He's six months old and at his checkup yesterday, the doctor said he was looking good. Of course this didn't stop the nurses from giving him 4 shots. That's never fun, but he did stop crying in a much shorter time than usual.
Tomorrow we're joining other Disney cast members in Family VoluntEAR day and going out to the coast for a coastal cleanup. Everyone is going including Baby, Grandma, Uncle Chris, Tammy, Tammy's friend Pam (who's here for a week on vacation), and of course myself. We've been looking forward to the event for several weeks so hopefully it will be fun and not too cold.
Our other exciting news is that we've planned a vacation for next month. It will be short, but definitely lots of fun. This will be the first real vacation for us since last December. We're heading out of the country on a three night Disney cruise. This will be the 4th cruise for Tammy and I, but the first for Grandma, Uncle Chris, and of course the baby. Tammy and Chris are already too excited considering it's almost a month away. I'm still waiting a few more weeks before getting excited.
Finally, here's one of the pics from the baby's most recent photo shoot. The studio liked it so much, they had us sign a release so they could put it in their display book. That made Tammy's day knowing our baby was picked.
I stick to the old vintage pez, but I would love to see what you have. If there isn't anything I am looking for I could at least give you an idea of value. Send a picture to jdieman@wi.rr.com. Thanks.
