It is truly amazing how a roach can affect me! Allow me to back up...I knew that working for Rentway and in all those bug-ridden houses would have lasting effects, however this is a little ridiculous!
Monday I fell asleep a little before Adam got home. I woke up to the vision of a HUGE roach crawling across the ceiling! I promptly called Adam to see if he was close enough to get rid of it. He was only a couple of min away, so I watched the roach crawl all over the ceiling and the wall. Of course, as I heard Adam letting himself in, the roach quickly scurried behind the dresser. :(
I have been very wary the past few days, expecting to see it lurking around every corner (or over my head on the ceiling somewhere). Tonight I go in the bathroom and what do I see over the door?! Roach ALERT!! Still HUGE!! I think it was about 2.5 inches long. I went and got 2 fly swatters, knocked it down, and killed it...
By the time, this sequence of events was over, I was on the verge of hyper-ventilating (which I have NEVER done before!), and nearly crying by the time I got it dead enough to throw it outside (I was afraid it would come back to life.) However, I was very proud of myself...I really didn't think I would be able to do it!
All of this, over something that was basically the size of my big toe!
"afraid it would come back to life." Ha ha ha! Hyperventilating, crying, I can so relate to this. That's one of the reasons gave us husbands. Good job conquering!
I hate roaches also. We have had a couple of incidents with roaches/palmetto bugs. I HATE them. One morning I came across one that must have been related to the one you killed; it was about 2 inches long. I had to kill it myself, cause Jason was at work already. It took every ounce of courage I had and then some. I hate the feeling and the noise it makes when you squosh (sp?) them. They are just nasty. Glad you found the courage to get rid of it!
This is why i have a contract with a bug company to come and spray every 3 months. Roaches make me crazy. If I see one in between sprays, I call them to come out and do a quick spray. They think I'm nuts, but I don't care. We've lived here since the first of August, and I've had the house sprayed 3 times....Overkill? I don't think so.
If ever I have a confrontation (and that is what it is) with a Roach, it is a long BATTLE. I have to take deep breaths, use a very long device that puts distance between me and the Roach, and I squeel, scream and shutter. Thanks goodness I have a BRAVE man in my house that shutters also but will be my Knight in Shining Armour.
I am MUCH older now...and I have a few gray hairs to prove it! My birthday was yesterday and as one of my gifts I got to go to the OB and have our 20 week ultrasound! That was TONS of fun! NO, we didn't find out the gender. We did get to see our "little one" though! He/she is quite precious! One of the first things the tech said was "Who has the big feet?!" The baby's feet are already 2 inches long and he/she weighs 13 oz! He/she also had the hiccups, which were funny to observe. The doc said all is well!
Adam took me to Maggiano's for a tasty late afternoon meal! He gave me a picture frame for our first baby picture! He also is taking me to Denver the second weekend of October for a "babymoon"!!! I am extremely excited about that! It will be nice to get to spend that much time with Adam, even if we don't get to do much else.
congrats on the birthday! oh, and i don't think gray hairs prove anything (i was going white at 16...maybe they're a sign of stress rather than age?). hope you enjoy your trip with your guy. :)
Baby...ahhh, so fun. I'm glad everything's going well with it!! Maggiano's is also great!! I went there for my birthday this year too, and it was WONDERFUL!!!
Regarding the mashed potatoes, they're not AS good as fresh ones but if you allow them to thaw out on the refrigerator a day or two before serving and perk them up by adding a little more milk and butter, they're almost as good. :) I freeze mine in containers.
Well their is the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Of course there is always the mountains. Going to the small towns and looking at the shops.
Busy, Busy, Busy...That would be the life of Adam and I right now...though more so Adam than me.
Adam started working at Chick Fil A once again (3rd time is the charm I suppose!) about a month or so ago. He is working about 20 hours a week at night and on Saturdays. This is IN ADDITION to his regular 50 hour a week "real" job!
I am absolutely amazed that he is able to do it! I am really thankful and proud of my man! He is working really hard right now so that I can stay home when our little one arrives. I am still working 40 hours per week during the day, so we don't see each other much. On the other hand, this has made us much more grateful for the time we do get to spend together.
On a related note, baby is still doing well. Must be growing, because my belly sure is! I am at the VERY annoying stage where my regular clothes no longer fit, but the maternity ones are still too big. Next appointment is Sept 24 for the 20 week ultrasound.
I learned how to crochet earlier this week. I am really excited about it and the possibility to make our baby a blanket! I am just not very talented in a crafty sort of way, so when I learn something new I get really excited!
Wow...you guys are busy!! Good job with the crocheting! I'm working on learning that myself..If you get a minute check out my blog it has the crafts I'm making to sell at a craft show. Ornaments, and stuff I've knitted! Hope things continue to go well for you guys :)..
I remember the stage where your clothes just don't fit...I just felt fat! haha. Soon enough you'll be looking really cute in those maternity clothes, I'm sure.
Are ya'll going to find out the sex of the baby on the 24th?
I had my second OB appointment this afternoon. All is well! We were able to hear the heartbeat, which was really cool! (He couldn't come cuz he needed to catch up on the work he missed last week.) Another exciting thing...even though my belly has definitely expanded I have LOST 2 lbs! At the end of last week only one pair of pants that I had taken to OK actually fit me :)
Afterwards, we went browsing at Joann's and decided that we are going to make the crib bedding. It will be cheaper, better made, and much more personal. I am really excited about that!
Hey!! Well, we actually might be moving!! About 20 min. closer to the building. We're going to start painting next week! I want to see you though!! Do you want to come down or us come up?
We had our ultrasound and heard the heartbeat on the same day! I really want you to have your baby first though, so Cindi can come and see me when I have mine! But I know you don't have much control over that! I am so excited to have someone I know at the exact same stage I'm at. I can't believe you lost weight! I'm puking and gaining weight, although I'm pretty sure most of it is in my bra at this point. Well, and maybe my rear a little too! Missed you guys last week.
making the bedding sounds like fun! i actually have patterns/fabric picked out for mine...not that i'm expecting or thinking about that any time soon...but when it comes, i'm ready!
this coming or the next? we have company this coming. they'll be here around 5 pm saturday. we finished up our meeting tonight. really enjoyed the lessons. he spoke mon. thru tonite about marriage and family. you might have felt like "been there already heard that". all the same was good. the calverts will be here for the friday night wedding. e and h are spending the night here tomarrow. too many people over there. talk to you tomarrow.
There was a wounded puppy in my backyard yesterday. Looks like a full blooded (sp) chawawa. She isn't hurt bad. Looks like something chewed her back legs a bit. She's real sweet and appears to have been house trained. Needs a bath. Had to have been dumped. Poor little thing. E has someone in mind though. Melinda wanted to take her back to Fl, but D didn't like the idea. Otherwise she goes to the pound.
