Good morning everyone. Well, all my kids started school today. This is officially my first kid-free day. They all did great this morning, even Emma. She went right in to her classroom put her backpack on her chair, sat down, and started the project her teacher had on her table. Then with a hug and kiss I was on my way. No tears for me yet....that is the weird part, I cry every year they go to school. On other years I have been walking down the hall in tears. I think I have been dreading it for so many weeks now that it is finally here it actually doesn't feel real.
I feel sad and it doesn't feel right with no kids here with me but no tears. Strange.
Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well.
If they didn't grow up, we'd worry for something would be wrong. That doesn't make it any easier to watch it happen, though, does it? You'll all be just fine.
We had a couple firsts this year. One starting college and the last one starting high school.
We have enjoyed the last couple of weeks of summer. We have had some quiet days and some busy days and I am sad it is coming to an end.
We took our baby to "meet the teacher" day at school today. They call "role" and the kids go up a line up behind the teacher. Then they go to the classroom and on a tour of the school. When Emma's name was called she went right up in front of all the parents and got in line....then off she was with her class.
Come Tuesday, life is going to change a lot around here and I am not sure I am ready for is. I keep having this feeling something is not right. Stacy is having the same feeling. Weird. Hopefully I will get into a routine and get used to having no kids to take care of during the day. I have such compassion for those of you who have sent your kids off to college....I am having a hard time sending my to school.
On a happier note, a young man named Patrick was baptized on Tuesday night. Stacy has been studying with him for a while. Please pray he will grow in his faith and knowledge of the truth.
It is hard to see our babies head off to school. It leaves such a big void in our lives. I know you will find plenty to do and probably a lot of it will be at the school so you can be near little Emma. Hang in there! Wonderful news about Patrick!
Call me sister if you need a shoulder to cry on tomorrow. We spent Friday and Sat with Doug and Debbie, we had a nice visit with them. I told them about trying to get together for Spring Break, so let us know the dates so we can get it all planned.
Good luck tomorrow. I hope Emma loves school. It will make it a little easier for you seeing her enjoy it...at least that is what I tell myself about Savannah. :)
Whoever thinks summer is going to be a relaxing time is crazy! Life here has been crazy since the kids got out to school. Stacy's younger brother, his wife, and 2 little girls came to see us for 9 days. It was great to spend time with them.
Seven days later we left for NC. Stacy's mom has a cabin down there. We can stay for free and I can cook our meals so it is in inexpensive vacation for us and we enjoyed our time there. We got back Friday night so we could be here for a picnic one of the members from another congregation put together.
I am looking forward to nothing to do this week except to get my house back in order.
Geneva Russell died on July 4th at the age of 102. We got the call right before fireworks in the mountains. I trust she is in a better place but I will miss her. She meant a lot to me.
We got Big Blue back after a month of being gone. It is so great to have room for everyone to sit again.
Hope everyone is having a great summer.
So looking forward to Camp Noah!
Do you want to know the best the thing about summer for a mother of five kids? (besides my kids being home)
Hardly any socks to fold! YEAH! Everyone wears flip flops!
So sorry about Mrs. Russell. I'm sure you'll miss her, but it's comforting to know she died with hope.
Thanks about the camp $$. We'll have it then for sure. Can't wait to see you guys.
YAY! for flip-flops. Help us push for privileges to wear them to and from the showers. Hannah told me one year she forgot to take hers every time to the shower and took a shower without them. YUCK!!! I think I'd rather deal with a broken bone for a few weeks than a life-time of athlete's foot.
I'm really glad you guys were able to be at the picnic on Saturday. I've had many say that we need to do it again, so we will have to plan on it. Enjoy the rest of your "flip-flop" summer!
she's doing okay. Shouldn't be to much longer. Olivia found a stray cat saturday. It has been living in her bedroom since sophie tried to eat it. I don't mind the cat but I feel like she has moved on and sophie is still with us.
Stacy e-mailed me a family picture. I can't believe how much your kids have grown in just 2 years--Bailey looks like a little lady! They are all just as cute as ever.
I can't tell you enough how glad we are that we got to spend the extra days with you guys. Hope your trip was not too exhausting. I should have gone to the laundromat with you, I'm still washing clothes.
I can't imagine it getting easier, but everyone keeps telling me it will. Savannah is only going for half days, which makes it a little easier. I thought it would help break both of us in for full days next year! Thanks for your prayers...
I'm glad Bailey did not have to go through a reaction, too. It sounds like many people can't take Bactrim. This was awful. From the time school went out in June till present, I have been plagued with something. I'm looking forward to getting better and staying that way. It really makes you appreciate health, and makes you feel for those who have to spend their entire lives like this. I am very fortunate that I came out of it like I did.
Life around here never stops...always from one thing to the next. Only next week left for the kids at school. I can not wait till it's over. Monday is Field Day at the elementary school. Stacy has headed it up for the last 3 years and I have been in charge of the volunteers. So we have been trying to get that all together over the last few days. I'll be glad to have that done Monday. It is suppose to be 98 degrees so it will be a warm one!
I think someone needs to tell the weather patterns around here they are about 2 months early. We have had high 90's for the last 2 days are it is suppose to be 100, 101, 98, etc. for the next 5 days. That is late July-August weather! The air is so thick you could cut it with a knife and serve it up on a plate for supper. YUCK and again I say YUCK!
Sister Russell made it past her 102nd birthday. How many people can say that? It is really something.
Big Blue is still not back. I hope maybe next week...we need our big van back!
Enjoy your summer! Wish I got summers off! I've been wondering about Geneva. She is like the Eveready bunny. Looking forward to seeing you all during the summer.
How big is too big for you decoupage projects? I have one jar/bottle with cork top. It's kind of tall and skinny. The lady has two more, but they are fuller and rounder at the bottom. I didn't know how big you'd want to go.
Someone offered me some paraphin (sp???) if we every wanted to offer a candle class. Think I should take it? I could use some more stuff to store in this house. :)
How about small Mason jars. I have a couple, plus I found a couple more pieces I think you can use. I sent Luanne an e-mail that we'll take her other two pieces.
I have five pieces for you so far. One is the tall one with the cork top I mentioned before. I have two small Mason jars, another smaller jar, and a vase that's kind of skinny. It's the same width all the way up and down. Luanne is going to get the other two bottles (or vases whichever they are) to me. I'm going to look some more around here.
Hope you're all well. Glad Nick go his wisdom teeth out and is doing well. I saw on his blog that he survived. :)
Well, they finally looked at our van today. It's not totaled, which is wonderful news for us....there was $6100 damage. They said it would be 15 days or so till it is done. So hopefully the kid's coverage will be enough to continue to pay for a rental for us....we don't have rental car on our insurance policy. I am just so thankful they will fix it....we all miss "Big Blue"!
Bailey's finger is the same. There has been no change either way.
As long as it's not getting worse, it's good news. Thanks for asking!
Only 11 days till school is out here for the summer! I can't wait for it to be over!
One of our elderly members is not doing well. If she makes it till Saturday she will be 102! She stopped eating last Friday so I don't think she will make it much longer. She is such a sweet, funny, tiny, little lady and it saddens me so deeply to know she will be gone soon.
I'm so glad they can fix the van. The other person's insurance should provide you with transportation as long as yours is out of commission. That's the former claims rep in me talking. :)
We are eager for the school year to be over, too. I am just exhausted.
Glad Bailey's finger is no worse. I hope that's a good sign. Poor kid. She's had a time with that.
Hope your elderly member makes 102. What a milestone.
Great news about Big Blue! That is so sad to hear about Geneva. She is such a wonderful little lady that brought a smile to your face and in your heart.
You must be talking about Ms. Geneva. I can't believe she will be 102 on Saturday. I knew she close to 100, but didn't realize she had already passed it. Please keep us updated. She's always been such a wonderful little lady.
