Well, I'm sure you are as sick of staring at my old, out-dated page as I am. So here I go! A new post. Oh, and by the way, I'm 22 now!
I am actually getting into this election stuff! (Are you proud of me or what?!) This will not be the first presidential election that I have voted in, but I guess I'm just getting older and understanding more about the issues that make the parties disagree. It's all so interesting to me now!
Witty Shelby just emailed me his new favorite quote that he thought of today at work: "To become an Obama-nation would be an abomination." I like it! We can't wait to watch Palin's speech tonight.
I just applied to student teach in the spring. It was very tough deciding which schools and schools systems to request! I felt like I had to plan the whole next few years of my life in a few clicks of a mouse. I am also set to take the Praxis II on September 13. It's basically a big test that you must do well on to graduate and to be considered for any teaching position. If all goes well with the Praxis test and student teaching, I'll be graduating in May of '09! Wow, it's gonna be here before I know it...
So those of you who are out of college and into the "real" world, do you miss anything about college? What am I gonna miss and what am I not gonna miss?
what do i miss from college? hmm. i think i miss the get-togethers we had all along during my college years. we were always getting together on the weekends and after church. but let's see. that's not really college related...
i do miss SOME of the classes i took. i enjoyed some 400 level history classes i took for electives. they were very interesting and just a nice change of pace from all the art and studio classes.
what i do not miss? all the stress and pressure of trying to work three jobs and get all my homework done while not having enough money to do much of anything. :)
i miss the hours... as in only going to school a few hours a day... and having the Xmas break and Spring break.... but with those few hours comes lots of homework and having a crazy work schedule, which I don't miss.
She and I are going to be on the news tonight at ten. (ABC - 31 - 10pm) We were interviewed about gas prices.
If you watch and we look funny, I don't wanna hear about it! :-P I didn't really know what to say... Haha and of course now I'm thinking of all these things I should've said!
I'm so glad they didn't show dying laughing. You did very good! You answered the questions very well. I just can't believe they put on there that it was putting a "strain" on your relationship. Haha!
Lol... Yes, for those of you who don't know... I said "no" when he asked if gas was putting a strain on my relationship but he cut that part out! I've been manipulated by the press. :-P
We are home! We had a very nice trip. Here is the brief summary of our doings and seeings...
Wednesday, May 14: We flew from Huntsville to BWI airport, rented a Chevy HHR, and headed to their house. She had a yummy dinner cooked for us. :)
Thursday: My parents and I went to the Amish country in Pennsylvania. We took a buggy ride and went to some very awesome fabric shops! One shop, the "Old Country Store," had been named one of the top ten fabric shops in the nation by Better Homes and Gardens. We definitely helped keep them in business for the day!
Friday: We picked Shelby up at the airport that morning. :) We ate lunch and then did a little bit of Washington DC. We went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and ate at yummy Chevy's for dinner.
Saturday: All six of us did downtown DC. They went to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum while she and I went to the Smithsonian Art Museum. They had some Monets, some Van Goghs, and a Leonardo da Vinci there. Very cool!!! We also hit some of the memorials (Korean War, Vietnam, WW2, Lincoln, etc.)
Sunday: The six of us headed to Wildercroft COC. This is not their home church, but it is closer to their house. We ate at Boston Market, and then the 3 Logans and Shelby headed to NYC in the Bolt Bus. (Bolt Bus was very nice, by the way, and I'd recommend it to anyone in need of a bus ride from DC to NYC!) We went through some major traffic, and the trip that should have been four hours long ended up being seven hours long. :-\ But it was ok... because we ended up in beautiful NYC! We went to the Empire State Building, and it was so beautiful at night! We ate dinner at midnight, and then headed back to our suite to try and catch some ZZzzZZ's.
Monday: We did the Statue of Liberty, some souvenir shopping, Wall Street, Ground Zero, etc. We ate at the Soup Man for lunch. (Remember the Soup Nazi from Seinfield?) We ate at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company for supper. We saw the old and new Yankee Stadiums. My parents were pooped at about 11:30ish but Shelby and I still had some energy left in us so we went out for a late-night dessert date at the Roxy Delicatessen right across from our hotel on Times Square. Shelby had a wonderful cheesecake. I ordered an apple pie a la mode, which we got for free because I found a sticker in it. Ew! I think it was a produce sticker from one of the apples, but still EW! I hate stickers that aren't in my food, so I certainly did not like one being in my dessert haha. Oh well, at least dinner had been really good at the Bubba Gump place!
Tuesday: We got up early and had some ridiculous luck. We were headed down to Rockefeller Plaza with a hope of catching a glimpse of some TODAY show action. We walked up to the plaza at 7:10am and a guy came up to us and asked us if we wanted TODAY show VIP passes. It seemed too good to be true, but he was wearing a TODAY show staff badge so we said, "Umm... YEAH!" He led us to a spot RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE PERFORMANCE STAGE and right beside the door where all the TODAY show folks come out. Fergie was the concert of the day, and I got to touch her hand. I also shook Al Roker's hand. Matt Lauer had a small-talkish conversation with my mom. It was so cool! They were all hanging out literally inches away from us. Al Roker seemed like the nicest guy. I think he would be so cool to work with... He was just walking around joking with all of the non-famous NBC workers and telling them good morning and all. He seemed like a genuinely nice person. Meredith is pretty, but she wears a lot of makeup! Anyway, we were on the TODAY show in the audience! Pretty cool. I mighta dressed up a little more if I would've known I was making my debut on national TV haha. ;) After all of that excitement, we went to Chinatown/Soho/Little Italy area, and then went back to Times Square to shop at M&Ms World. We got back on the Bolt Bus and headed back to DC where she picked us up.
Wednesday, May 21: We ate lunch, went to Filene's Basement, and then flew home!
That was my week in a nutshell. It was so nice. Everybody needs a vacation once in awhile! I may put pics on here later, but if you have facebook, just look at my video slideshow of the trip pictures on there.
Ya'll stayed in times square?! So jealous! ;) You definately got very lucky with the TODAY show experience! I think it was meant to be that you didn't go to the Crawfish Boil and that you see her in New York! That's so awesome! Did anybody have to turn the shower on for you while you were there? ;)
If you have child between the ages of one and twenty-two, then you need to stop by my work. The dentists specialize in pediatric dentistry and they are great with kids.
