Wednesday morning I wake up with one eye matted shut. How can this be? I'm way too old for Pinkeye! None the less, I get up get ready and go to work. I lasted two hours before I had to call the doctor and make an appointment. Off I go to the "Doc in a Box", you know one of those "sign in on the internet and get in NOW" places. It takes ten days to get into my doctor.
Off I go for my appointment. Less than 12 minutes after arrival I'm sitting in the little exam room going over my condition with the nurse. She looks like she might be 15 or 16 at the most, I know I'm old. SO the PA comes in and looks at my eye and give me three prescriptions. Off I go to the pharmacy. Less than an hour total time at DITB(Doc in the box), not bad.
So I take the medicine that I have , the pharmacy did not have some of it) and proceed to take a nap. I wake up and both eyes are matted. This is going in the wrong direction.
Thursday I have to miss work again because my eyes are still generating crust at a prodigious rate. Finally around lunch the antibiotics begin to win the race. Tomorrow I go back to work.
I'm still left to wonder how I got this??? On the up side I have time to post .
Pink Eye = not fun. I remember once having it. We were in the desert between CA and OK. We stopped and mom put that nasty gunk in my eyes and I had to rub it around. :(
A friend of mine reminded me of this:
Rom 13:1-7
13 Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
2 Therefore he who resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.
3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same;
4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices evil.
5 Wherefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake.
6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.
7 Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
NASB
We are called to a higher more noble existence. It will not be easy for me but I am going to be a positive influence on the change that lies before us. My wife reminds me that I can be a Christian no matter who is in office.
Go read his post, he makes some good points. Lets live for Christ and like Christ no matter who is running the government.
By this time tomorrow the election will be over and I will be free of the endless political adds. No matter who wins and who looses I will rejoice in the absence of the political advertisements.
Since my "Write in Kelly for President Campaign" seems to have died on the vine I will not be making plans to move to DC. I will however be reviewing the polling data and re-grouping for the 2012 election.
For those of you who voted for me I say thank you and Whats wrong with you anyway?
Politics is the most perverse of the human endeavors...
of course you can share it with others. If you want to credit me, just share my web site with them. The purpose fo the site is to share this kind of perspective with Christians and non-Christians alike. Thanks Kelly!
We are both suffering from colds or allergies, I not sure which. As usual, when I get sick, I really do it up good. None the less, (with the aid of modern pharmaceuticals) I was able to get out and take her to her all day class. I then went in search of a drafting supply company to try and buy my favorite Pentel mechanical pencil (model P203) which is no longer available in the USA. The closet store was only about 5 miles up the road so I took a chance. They do not carry Pentel, so all I got was some good experience driving.
I then returned to the hotel and went to the Executive Lounge where I drank coffee and surfed the net. After a while I wondered down to the casino to watch some Texas Hold-um. Not so much fun in person as on TV. You have no idea what cards the people have so it's just not as exciting.
I then went to see if the room had been serviced so I could watch TV and nap. No luck there so it was back to the EL for more coffee and reading one of the newspapers. Next it was back down to the lobby via my room (not yet) to people watch for a while. I started to fall asleep in the chair so I decided to go eat the lunch buffet, 22.50 for lunch. I sloped gravy on my shirt. Back to see if the room was ready, finally it was done. Rinsed gravy out of shirt and laid down to watch TV. Woke up an hour later, refreshed and ready to have my wife back from work, but I had another hour and a half to wait.
Finally picked up Alyssa and we are in the EL again (free wireless) eating canapés and figuring out where we will go eat. I'm not sure how easy it is going to be returning to a normal life where I have to work and no one waits on me hand and foot.
It is so nice to see your face again on American soil...No not on the ground but, you catch my meaning I hope. I hope that YOU had a nice birthday on the other side of the world. I really appreciate your call on OUR birthday. I have never had a call from outside of the US and especially to wish ME a happy birthday. Only a really nice guy would do that and you fit that description to a tee. Are you sure that "curmudgeon" really fits?? Do we need spousal testamony to justify that name? I prefer "Brother" and "Friend"...Glad you are back safely !!!!
it was good to see you too, i miss you guys even though i'm having fun here. my last final is dec 11 which is a thursday if you wanted to come so we could leave saturday morning that would be fine. i'm going to send my resume in for a few administrative assitant positions today. see you in a few weeks!
This morning we went to the ocean I was describing before and walked along the beach just letting our feet get wet. We looked at the waves and the people and the buildings. We watched some children boogie boarding in the surf. One young bloke maybe 6 years old was doing a fine job catching even the smallest of waves and riding them into shore. There were three girls that looked to be in their very early teens that would not catch a wave to save their lives. We giggled and laughed as the boy rode wave after wave and the girls stood there occasionally shrieking as the wave came by but never quite managing to get a ride.
The sun was bright and the sand was so smooth and fine. The water was cool if not cold but it felt so good rolling over my feet. Clouds were forming inland just behind the beach area and I suspect that rain will come later.
It does not get much better than walking the beach, hand in hand, with your love and your best friend.
(I think being on the opposite side of the world is affecting my normally sour and dire disposition in unspeakable ways)
You'll have to change from curmudgeon to ol-softie. I mean really KJ, not one comment from you in two weeks about the need for weapons of mass destruction or scoping out hiding places for survivor man. You've lost your edge. :-)
