It’s unique in that it adds further instruction to our commands. Obviously we don’t really know what we want from him, so this special hearing aid assists Scottie in deciphering our obviously inadequate requests.
Here are a few examples. The “further instructions” that only Scottie hears through his aid, which represents what we really mean when we speak to him, are shown in parentheses.
COMMAND: “Scottie, sit (for a nano-second).”
COMMAND: "Scottie, stay (delete, delete, delete)."
COMMAND: “No bite (unless you’re extra hungry).”
COMMAND: “Scottie, Down! (unless you feel like UP!)”
COMMAND: “Scottie, Come! (…whenever you’re finished doing those zoomies around the house)”
COMMAND: “Drop it! (…as soon as that sock has too many holes in it to further serve a useful purpose)”
COMMAND: “Outside. (NOW!)”
Ahhhhhhh, life with four-legged teenagers. It's a good thing they know what we mean! :P
