We had a great week at camp this past week and we found out some amazing things!
Some of you might remember that Alan and I went through fostering classes in the hopes of adopting a baby girl about 3 years ago. We were leaving to go to Disney World when we got the call to foster a baby girl but that it would only be for 2 weeks - we thought that we could handle 2 weeks even though I had just found out that I was pregnant with Grace. During the next week we discovered that 2 weeks would most likely turn into 18 years. Alan and I thought about it and decided that we would. When we came home from Disney World it got crazy! We still had paper work, had to set up a nursery, and get ready for the case worker to inspect the house (we still had not gotten the house fixed from the flood) in 1 day! And Alan was at work! I couldn't handle it and was starting to have problems with my pregnancy so Alan called the agency and told them that we were going to have to back out. I was devestated - and it just so happened that we were going to get her on Mothers Day. I haven't liked mothers day since then. I have always wanted to know if we had made the right decision and if she was okay.
Fast forward to homeschool camp last week.
I was talking to one of the Dads that was at camp who had fostered to adopt a little girl. We started talking about his situation with his adoption process. We soon realized that we had been using the same agency! As we talked I started seeing many similarities. I asked him if her real name was _________ and he said yes! I couldn't believe that she was right there!! Out of all of the families in Texas that could have adopted her God put her with a family that was at the same camp! We talked a long time about all of the difficulties that they had in fostering her and adopting her and I realized that there was no way that I could have been pregnant and gone through all that they went through. God knew that we couldn't handle the stress but also knew that I needed to know that we had made the right decision. We will be able to see her grow up because we both go to camp twice a year. She is in a wonderful family and she is beautiful!
How amazing is that?? God has a plan for everything. Even if we don't see it right away.
Hey, Debbie. I have added the brochures and price list to one of my galleries. We are not real concerned about meeting the goal because band is just driving us nuts right now; so, don't feel you have to order something.
If you want to, though, you can send me a check or paypal me.
Hi Debbie, I am Debbie Griffin (Deb) My hubby preaches in KS. I had to tell you that the story above is so touching. We tried to adopt 2 times and had 2 miscarriages and our baby girl Kendra died right before birth. I love kids and wanted 5 or 6! God does have His reasons, When my son's were teens, my house was full of teens. We took several of them in and they lived with us. And we were there for a lot of kids over the years. If we had a big family, we would not have been able to touch so many kids life. Now they are married, with children and they bring them to see us & we see them. Loss is so difficult at the time, but years down the road we can see there are so many blessings even with losses.
We are leaving to go to Mustang Island again. The third time is a charm, right?? I think that I have figured out that it is not I who is the hurricane magnet, but Grace. The past two times that we have gone to the beach we have had to evacuate due to a hurricane. These are the only two times that Grace has gone to the beach, therefore, it is her fault and not mine. Blame it on the kid! :)
That sweet little baby? I can't believe a mom could even THINK about blaming something like a big, awful hurricane on a baby. Shame, shame all over you!
Yes, Monterey Bay Aquarium has successfully kept two Great Whites (young ones) for 4 to 5 months each. They couldn't keep them much longer because they start to eat the other fish in the tank. Great White doesn't want to be fed, Great White wants to hunt! So then both were released. The aquarium is the first one in history to successfully keep a Great White in captivity. Both sharks had been rescued.
Gee, I wonder who wrote that!^^^^^ Okay, he did figure out how to put a picture up when I couldn't! By the way, he picked out that picture - I would have picked one with all 3 kids in it!
The museum has a lot of information and things to read. We got there like at 9:15 and left at 5:15, and there were times I was just skimming. Who knew texas was so awesome??!? Also, right now, they have an exhibit dedicated to Dallas, the TV show.
Welcome to my world! I had to change my password to keep her from commandeering my blog! I mean how can I attain the record for having the best post:comment ratio if she keeps posting for me?
It was probably the best one ever. And to top if off (not sure if you heard yet), but we had an Oprah-like giveaway... everyone in the audience got brand new cars! :)
Has anyone seen the movie Cloverfield? I think that it is rated PG-13. I was wondering if it was O.K. for A.J. to watch (he's 12). I can't trust the reviews online, so I thought that I could get some opinions from Christians! We have unfortunately been to a few movies that we thought would be o.k. but really were not too great!
Have you seen what Screenit.com has to say? I think I looked at that and determined the boys could not see it until it came out on DVD and we could filter it. Do you want me to look it up for you there?
Screenit.com is good, and there's also kids-in-mind.com. Both give very detailed descriptions of the movies. Very good to use when deciding if a movie is okay to watch. Hope that helps!
