I miss New Jersey in the fall. I forgot how beautiful it is.
I just registered for the last semester of my undergraduate degree. So, after History and Systems of Psychology, Psysiological Psychology, Anthropology, Intro to Environmental Science, Drug Abuse, and Spanish 102, I will officially be a college graduate. Weird.
But, I probably won't make it because having 4 tests in the next 2 days will probably kill me. Awesome.
It was so nice to have you up here! Im so glad I got to be the lucky one to pick you up from the airport. Keep pressin on towards the goal while you are in KY - I know you are doing good down there, but we are still anxious to have you back here!
It really was pretty corny. ;/ I think the more technology the movie industry has...the more quickly they make things seem unbelievably unrealistic and contrived. Oh well. ;(
You have pretty the greatest parents ever (after mine, of course)! I stayed at your house this weekend and I now have a key AND garage-door-opener-clicker-thing attached to my visor. I feel like I could be a DeGrado in disguise. ;)
You are right! Good memory! Her birthday is Friday and we are just having the fam over for pizza, cake and presents! She'll love it. We are trying to convince her she's going to be 2. She insists she's one! It seems a long time ago that you were here with us for Thanksgiving! What are you doing this year?
We should never feel comfortable in our Christianity,
but we should always feel confident in our Chrisitianity.
This quote is written in the front page of my Bible and I rediscovered it yesterday. The timimg was perfect because, for the past few weeks, i've been doing a lot of thinking about this very thing. What does it mean to be confident in our Christianity? Do we know why we BELIEVE certian things? Why we DO certian things?
It always seemed to me that the false teachers of Matthew 7:15, 2 Tim. 4:3-4, and Heb. 13:9 were just something the New Testament churches were dealing with. As it applies to us today, I always thought of it more in the context of denominational churches than acutal "church of Christ" congregations. But we cannot be so naive to think that Christians are immune to false doctrine. For this reason, let us be like those in Berea. Acts 17:11 says they "recieved the word with all readiness and searched the scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so."
In 1 Peter 3:16, it says "as also in all of his [Paul] epsistles, speaking in them of thse things in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures."
We have to make sure to make God the focus. In worship, in study, in teaching. So often problems arise because we have shifted the focus from God to ourselves. What is right in our own eyes, no matter how innocent or righteous it may seem, may not be what God has asked for. We need to do what the Bible says and not what we WANT it to say.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." 1 Peter 3:15
One thing I hear a lot of people use to bolster their arguments when they "twist" what God's said is something along the lines of, "I think God would want this, anyway." Sometimes we can, if we aren't careful, even use that rationale to justify things we do, ourselves. How arrogant of us to think we can know the mind of God beyond what He has revealed in His Word.
amen!! really uplifting post :-) jude calls those who pervert the scriptures to fit their own understanding UNREASONING ANIMALS" who understand instinctively. He also says to save the judgement for GOD. we can only pray that our understanding is in concordance with HIS will, and others come to understand with a pure heart. :-) miss you!! :-P
good, good. =) (I'm so original and profound =P) no, but it is tempting to get into the habit of taking things for granted and recently I've been asking more questions about stuff. I want to have my own faith, not someone else's who I really trust, admire, etc.
Amen. It's scary to think that there are brethren in the church who are either trying to purposefully twist scripture, or may be doing so unwittingly. And therein comes my responsibility: to be like the Bereans and not just assume that the preacher or the teacher is right. Heh -- Paul the inspired apostle praised the Bereans for double-checking him! :)
Well I have a boy and a girl. Stuart's the boy and he's a bischon frise/fox terrier/poodle mix. He's all white and he had a pink nose when we first got him. Angel is the girl and she's a Lhasa Apso/poodle mix and she's black, grey and white. I love them to pieces. I swear they're sleeping in my bed this weekend. XD
My much anticipated fall break has come and gone. I spent the weekend in Florida with some of my favorite people in the entire world.
Just being with them made me miss FC so badly. Not the school, per se, but the friends I made there. I would give pretty much anything for all of us to be in the same place again. But that's what spring break is for, right?
So, for lack of a better post, here are some sweet photos:
oh, and one of my friends from IN goes to the Tues. night Bible studies, and I told him about you. His name's Nathan, so it'd be cool if ya'll meet, but he said there were like a lot of people there, so I understand! =)
sarah! i have something for you!!!! can you tell me your address (email or call or whatev) I LOVE YOU AND I MISS YOU. REMEMBER THE TIME WE WENT TO THE DOLAN'S HOUSE WHEN THEY WERE AWAY FOR A WEEK AND JUST ATE ALL SORTS OF FOOD AND WATCHED MOVIES AND TRIED ON CLOTHES! OH DEAR! HAHAA
I'm writing this post to avoid studying.
A class called Psychological Tests and Measurments is actually as boring as it sounds.
Fall break CANNOT come quickly enough.
I wish I was playing racquetball right now.
I stole this format from Emily King.
I miss her.
School stresses me out sometimes.
I need a haircut.
I'm reading The Princess Bride for about the 4th time.
Even though i'm having a great semester, I miss my NJ/NY kids.
I placed membership at Eastside Church of Christ.
I finally bought a navy blue cardigan.
It stinks that we all went our separate ways after FC.
A trip to Texas might be in order.
We need milk.
I listen to Pandora radio all the time.
You should too.
I got my first credit card and have yet to use it.
I have a lot of knitting to do.
I'm going to Florida for Thanksgiving.
My iTunes, for some unknown reason, will no longer burn CDs.
I wish Harry Potter was coming out in November instead of July.
Tuesday night Bible studies with Gary Fisher are great.
I want a kitten.
My inability to cook is really starting to catch up with me.
I want to go to the Nashville Zoo so badly.
I love my new roomate.
1. that's awesome about you reading TPB. I haven't actully read it, but the movie's pretty much my fav ever. and 2. I think of you sometimes when I see/wear my blue cardigan. =)
I love the format... I'm in the Bronx right now, next to the zoo... I made an apple pie this weekend and Genesis crashed my car into some bushes (thankfully it only added some characteristic scratches). I talk about you a lot. We all miss you. Glad you get to go to Fl =)
My Itunes is doing the same thing. There's a glitch with the new 8.0 version. Still haven't found a way to solve it other than wait for a new version to come out. How've you been chica?
One of the great things about college is that things like "casserole night" or "smoothie/movie/plum parties" are completely legit. Both of the aforementioned things are happening this weekend :)
Racquetball is my new FAVORITE sport. I've been playing almost everyday and, let's just say, it's awesome.
So, for the first time in my life, I have a dog. Okay, let me clarify...my ROOMATE has a dog. It's taken some getting used to, but I really like little ol' Penny. It's nice to have someone is unconditionally happy to see you when you get home. Too bad she has fleas right now...
my feelings on raquetball: those places where you're supposed to play raquetball have great acoustics, and are way better for singing than raquetball playing. admittedly, the sport within itself can be kinda fun too. my feelings on you: I miss you
