It looks like my posts are becoming very predictable! Philip is now 6 months old. I can hardly believe it! I'm terrible about keeping up here; I don't know many people on pleo that I don't see on a regular basis...
Philip is now about 13 pounds (on the dot last Monday!). He's so smiley all the time and loves to "talk" and jump. His hair is growing in so evenly people ask me at least once a week if I have cut it. He's trying to get teeth; he's constantly chewing on his (and other people's) fingers.
In related news, Peyton has her first loose tooth! The day she showed it to me, I just felt so sad!! My babies are all growing up. She can't wait for it to fall out because she saw on Little Bear (a cartoon) that he got a whistle from the tooth fairy. I wonder how many whistles we will have to give out around here...
Hey Darcy...it's Ashley Fields, Keri's SIL. Your little boy is just 11 days older than my Ella! Glad you are all doing well. Ella is a chunk...she's 17 pounds! Take care :)
Hey Darci..it's Ashley Fields, Keri's SIL. I didn't realize our babies were so close together. Ella will be 5 months on the 21st. Hows 4? Lots of fun, huh? Take care!
Corey got a new job at work! It's not so much a promotion as a lateral move, but he's now in the position from which they promote to the next level, so that's good! The only downside is that he will have to work during company shutdown but even that has a silver lining... now he can use his vacation time whenever he wants, instead of having to use so much of it to cover the shutdown. He likes the new job a lot because he's so busy; time goes by faster and he feels more productive.
Philip's eye appt went well. His cataracts are big but not "visually significant" right now. We go back in 6 months for re-measuring unless something comes up in the meantime.
We also just got back from a week at the beach. It was really nice; just off-season, so it wasn't too busy. It was still warm enough to enjoy the beach most days and the condo had an indoor pool that the girls really enjoyed. I have a couple suitcases left to unpack and about 100 pictures to develop! I need another week to get over the 'vacation'!
I'm rocking through my BABY STEPS!! You Dave Ramsey fans know what I'm talking about. I tell everybody I know about him and I've gotten quite a few converts; like her. I'm done with BS #1 pretty much; we have our golfcart sold (we've been told), but don't actually have the $$ in our hands quite yet. I'm ready to move on to BS #2 and KILL IT!! Gazelle Intense!!
YAY for Corey!! and GO DAVE REMSEY!! BS #1 is going quit fast for me to. Ian and I watched one of the dvd's last night...he really enjoyed it!! Time for that yard sale.
After several visits with our pediatrician for Philip's chronic congestion, he decided to refer us to a ear, nose and throat dr. We saw him Monday morning, bright and early. Corey and I both really liked the dr; he was just disheveled enough. :)
The ENT said that Philip's reflux was very severe. He scoped Philip and he had milk all the way up in his nose! :( Poor baby! Philip also has small anatomy--a small chin and mid-face which interferes with his breathing anyway--but he also has a soft (underdeveloped) voice box. Whenever he starts to cry, his voice box collapses, causing him to gasp for air. The gasping draws more acid up from his stomach... which is easy for him to do, because he also has no turning of his esphogus yet... his stomach and esophagus are in a straight line. The Dr says that the winter should be rough since his mucus membranes are so inflamed, he will be more susceptible to everything. Great! And, the dr adds, since Philip will get bigger and stronger faster than his voice box and esophagus will mature, his problems will get worse before it gets better. More good news!! Agh!
In other doctor-y news, we will be going to Charleston next Wednesday to have Philip's cataracts re-measured. Please, please, please pray for NO GROWTH!!! I don't want to do the baby-surgery thing again, anyway, but Little Man has enough trouble to deal with right now!
Oh, no! Luke had severe reflux. I think I have now connected it with his food allergies. I will pray for your strength to get through this and I hope his eye appt. goes well!
We started our homeschool year on Monday, and things are going really well so far. I am really impressed with the curriculum we chose for this year; the instructor's guide is so nice. The girls like all the books we are reading. We are continuing with Horizons math K--Presley is doing the first K book and Peyton's doing the second K book (that we never got to last year!). They are also doing italic handwriting. We're "official" this year and it's pretty exciting. We've joined our accountability group plus the statewide and a local support group. The girls will be in the local yearbook and there will be a kindergarten graduation at the end of the year!
We will be doing school for 6 weeks at a time, taking a week off between sessions plus a couple of weeks off for Christmas, and we will still finish up the same week as the local public schools. They start next Wednesday.
Hey:) I'm Kristie Gore and my husband is Fred Gore. We're actually going to be moving to Columbia the 29th of this month. My husband just got a job with Colonial Life and we're looking for an apartment close to that area, do you know if the church is near that area. I really don't know much of anything about Columbia or where anything is, in fact I've never been there...we're actually going to be there this Saturday to line up an apartment. Anyways, I'm sure I'll be talking to and hopefully meeting you soon, I look forward to it:)
