It's hard to believe it's been so long since my last real update. My graph theory project has me in a stranglehold, and the analysis homework just keeps on coming. The end is in sight, though, and I'm looking forward to my Thanksgiving reprieve as well.
Some major encouragement came when I got my abstract algebra test back the other day. It took me a week do to, had nine proofs and was twelve pages long, and when I got it back there wasn't a single negative mark on it. In short, I laid the smack down on that sucker.
Now, I want you to believe that things have been going on besides school. For instance, we had a Halloween party two weeks ago. I'd had the idea of making a cool costume of one of my favorite video game characters, but I ran out of time and ended up donning a suit, an eye patch, and a pirate hat, and sticking a pin on my chest that said "Vote fer Cap'n Cid". I figured if people would vote for Obama or McCain, they'd vote for a pirate. The best costume, though, was Seth Nelson's. He dressed up as Eric Olson, another friend from church. Eric didn't dress up at all (noob) so we had two Erics. Actually, Anna Olson's Bob Dylan costume was pretty awesome, too.
Anyway, my camera's been misbehaving, so I don't have any pictures of that event.
The night that Texas lost to Texas Tech was nuts. All those Texas Tech players on the field, saying silly things like "I dreamed it in my head" and "we're number one!" when all of us here in Tuscaloosa knew that we were now number one. As history now shows, Texas's loss meant Alabama moved up to the number one spot, and that night the air in Tuscaloosa, AL, college football capital of the world, was filled with yelling and "Roll Tide!"'s. Everyone came came out of their apartments where I live just off University Blvd. and starting chanting "Ala! Bama!" to each other across the street, and then someone turned his speakers on loud and started playing music with everyone singing along, and fireworks shot off from someone's balcony. It was the definitive experience of living in the college football town.
I didn't get any pictures of that, either.
I also had my hair straightened...for about thirty minutes. Yeah, a bunch of girls came over to my place a couple weeks ago and started dying each others' hair, so I let Callie straighten mine to see what it would look like. It did look as bad as you think it would.
Looking forward to Thanksgiving, seeing my family, taking time off from school and the Iron Bowl,
-Caleb
Yeah, that's actually a very insightful poem. I vote on posting about the best day you've had this week! I always like to dwell on that sort of thing, myself.
I had a dream last night that you and Savannah were playing some sort of video game/laser tag/paintball war with each other. You each had humongous repeating guns that fired like 90 shots a second, but it didn't hurt you. It just looked like sparklers everywhere. You would stalk each other all over florence, hiding behind grocery stores and other buildings to ambush people. Nate was there (even though I never met him), he stayed neutral, and Jessie was on Savannah's team. Everyone else was there, but we all watched and laughed. Then you got lost in the grocery store and got mad because you couldn't find the milk or you were stuck behind the milk, I'm not sure which.
There is this guy that lives in Lafayette who looks exactly like you! I've never actually met him, though, because he's always leaving and I'm coming or vice versa! It's so weird!
Never in my lifetime have I seen anything like this. We're making history, folks; there's no denying that. For the past several weeks we've been watching the polls, waiting to see who would come out on top. Now our waiting has finally come to an end.
It hasn't been easy, and there have been a few disappointments along the way. Tonight, however, I can say with pride that we have finally made it--that is, until January arrives.
From Chuck Baldwin's article on what a wasted vote means:
"[A] wasted vote is a vote for someone you know does not represent your own beliefs and principles. A wasted vote is a vote for someone you know will not lead the country in the way it should go."
"Albert Einstein is credited with saying that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result. For years now, Republicans and Democrats have been leading the country in the same basic direction: toward bigger and bigger government; more and more socialism, globalism, corporatism, and foreign interventionism; and the dismantling of constitutional liberties. Yet, voters continue to think that they are voting for "change" when they vote for a Republican or Democrat. This is truly insane!"
Hey, you. *lol* I guess everyone is missing your calls. :P What's up? (I'll tell you what I told Jen and Tash - it's so much easier to reach me on Facebook than it is on my cell! :P)
If you restrict the choices to McCain and Obama, yes. Unless you genuinely believe that one of those two is the best man for the job, in which case you should go ahead and vote for him.
