can't decide which was worse 10-08-08 08:20am CST
i really can't say that i'm dissapointed with the debates last night because i really didn't have very high expectations. i'm really getting tired of the "i'm better than you" plugs. this election year has really take on a 1984 feel to me. where everyone is trying to tell you what you want to hear in a better way than someone else and will change it to follow what ever the popular opinion is. the sad thing is that in some way they believe everything they say and mean none of it.

the media is no better. this might be where i get the 1984 feel from the most. could the media be more skewed and/or biased. to promote one canidate to almost the total exclusion of the other.
txmomThat's the liberal media for you. They will never change.
jimmythekRatings...Ratings....Ratings...it is all a ratings game sad to say
ellwoodwdranting...ranting...ranting...alll they do is ranting
jimmythekagreed. I have to get tickled at Tom Brokaw last night when he finally told them for the last time the discussion is only to be one minute you both signed off on it and if you don't keep on that schedule we will have a bigger deficit than the US ECONOMY...too funny.
chris_milton74Even funnier was the candidates standing in the way of his teleprompter at the end... Priceless!
chris_milton74Right now, I'd like to hear how heads are going to roll at Wall St.
ellwoodwdsimular to a bowling ball, but that's just my guess.

when the not so simple become complicated! 10-06-08 09:21am CST
i'm currently working on a project where we are addding a 4th wrapper module (stretch wrapper & conveyor) to a facility using a wrapper module from a closed facility.

(this is where the simple becomes the not so simple)
the area where the 4th wrapper module is to be placed is under existing flow rack. the mast of the reused stretch wrapper is too tall to fit under that rack even with modifications to the rack.
solution:
we use the stretch wrapper form wrapper module #3 (shorter mast) with the conveyor from the closed facility for wrapper module #4 and use strecth wrapper from the closed fgacility in wrapper module #3. the result is that we have to change the direction of flow on both stretch wrappers and raise 3 bays of flow rack 20".

(this where the not so simple becomes complicated)
friday as i was designing the forklift guard for wrapper module #4 i notice that while the wrapper module #3 is at a 18" top of roller the wrapper module from the closed facility is at 21" top of roller. doesn't quit work when you're trying to mix and match.
my solution:
raise the conveyor for wrapper #3 to 21" and shim or fabricate new guards 3" taller. get new supports and lower conveyor from closed facility to 18" and proceed as normal.
project managers solution:
contact stretch wrapper manufacture and see if the height of wrapper can easily be adjusted. if the can then lower stretch wrapper from closed facility to 18" and raise stretch wrapper from module #3 to 21" this will mean that the flow rack will have to be raise 24" instead for 20" and that it will have to be 4 bays instead of 3 bays. if the stretch wrappers can't be adjusted then see my solution.
in the mean time hurry up and wait until you hear back from the wrapper manufacture then bust your butt to try and get everything out after waisting who knows how long.

i would like to note at this time that this is more the norm than the exception, especially with tis customer.

update
just heard back from the wrapper manufacture and they said the wrapper elevation could only be changed by replacing a "collar". so basically we waIsted a day and a half confirming what i already knew and we will be going with the solution that i suggested.
beckydwow- even the not-so-simple sounds complicated to me!
jimmythekDid I just see that right? Was someone calling you out? HOW RUDE?!
jimmythekI know the feeling my freind. Frustration is the name of working I guess...wanna trade jobs? JK...so no news in rangers world just that JD says he is going to get pitching NO MATTER what it takes...now I see it I really think JD is the problem.
jimmythekHey I didn't think it was this bad but he said he knows they won't spend a buttload on free agent pitching but will make several trades in order to get pitching...could be good could be bad...but the feeling I got is that he is publicly calling ryan and hicks out and saying SCREW the building process.
jimmythek^which if you read earlier posts Daniels and Ryan have different philosophies on gettnig this team to playoff baseball
jimmythekHe has been but I think the pressure of winning a championship is getting to his head...I am not saying he is a bad person he has done several gr8 things for the Rangers...see the Teixerira trade and Gagne trade...those have both paid off for us. What I am saying is that he continues to echo Nolan Ryan but came out and said something else...but more than likely the media putting their spin on it like everything else...ie politics and economy
jimmythekIf he sticks to the plan everything will be better...my point is DON"T WAVER...stay on course
faith1980we drove by the museum but we didnt want to try and park.. because we're lazy and kelly was getting tired of my downtown dallas directions. or lack thereof. so we went to the state fair for a couple of hours. and then come home to the normal side of the state.
jimmythekLooks to me as if Mark Teixeira still hasn't got an playoff round win...Angels lost to the Sox in 4 gms...but my money is on Tampa bay winning the world series in 6 gms

tagged! 09-30-08 09:56am CST
it figures that i would get tagged by him

eight things about me

1) by some miracle in my life i have had only 1 broken bone (left elbow when i was 3), no stitches, no surgeries, and have never been knocked out (this includes getting hit with a baseball bat when i was 9).

2) the person that has had the biggest influence on my my life was my brother, despite/because of his limitations do to cerebal palsy.

3) i played the tuba in the high school band from 8th grade through my sophomore year. went to state all three years, winning twice and the won the texas tech marching festival both years that we went.

4) my uncle david is the reason why i got interested in drafting. he suggested that i take a drafting class in my junior year and i loved it.

5) i am currently writing poetry in the hopes of publishing a book. i have about a quarter of the peoms that i need and one poem, that for which we seek, has already been published through poetry.com.

6) i am currently helping jimmy out with his "project" and hope to play an active role in it once it is started up.

7) i was bow hunting years before i ever went hunting with a gun and given the option i would go bow hunting every time.

8) i am very ocd about reading and have to very careful not to spend all my time doing nothing but reading despite the fact that you couldn't get me to pick up a book until i was in high school. the first book(s) i really read was jrr tolkens lord of the rings and i read all three books in less than a month.

the people i have tagged:

jimmythekJust look at who is #1 right now...they are very HARD to dethrown too. Like I said Kansas and nebraska and missouri are my worst fears for OU...but they should get past them if they stick to their gameplan
jimmythekYou really think they can get past the gr8 offensive mind of former Ou offensive coordinator Mark Mangino?
jimmythekHow was your weekend last week? Oh and guess what? that pei wei around the corner from the house is open now
jimmythekSounds like fun...what band was playing saturday?

jrhudginsHey sorry to miss you. Yes, I got back OK, and even made it to Stephenville by church time!
jimmythekHey I am really happy iwth the rangers now but if they don't do something they will be just as SUCCESSFUL as the LOWLY bizradio network
jimmythekNo it is more like BUZZ radio cause that is all you ever hear
jimmythekOr as I like to say, the half-hiney radio network. We won't spend to fix it we will continue to break it
jimmythekYou don't see me laughing do you? :(...JK...this place is a serious joke
jimmythekI am going to send a thank you note and INSERT a resume to the director of broadcasting for what she did...at least they will have my resume on hand
jimmythekThen we will see what happens...probably nothing but hey it is worth a shot huh? So you really liked my idea of cal ripken jr huh? Well it is obvious they need infield help and who else better to teach them then one of the gr8est...and one that missed only one game in his career...teach the kids what young has been trying to teach play with pain
