'Cause there are plagues of Biblical proportions 'round these parts. I just got back from taking Sean to the ER at 4 AM - RAGING ear infection that is also making him sick at his stomach.
And Erin woke up with a fever, too. Which is how it started with Sean.
Joseph's mom, Akemi, has been sent home with hospice. I don't know all the details yet, but I do know that. Please pray that:
1. We can tell the kids in a manner that won't completely traumatize them tonight, and that they can be comforted.
2. That Joseph can be comforted, and that I can do what's needed for him to help him through this.
3. That Akemi won't be in much pain for however long this lasts. She's been having real trouble with pain management this whole last week - nothing seemed to *really* help her feel any better.
4. That J.W. can be comforted and get through this time.
5. That Joseph's brother John can see his Mom's faith and have that speak to his heart and bring him back to the Lord.
...if you're a cat. I had to put my kitty baby down this morning. She'd been declining for about 6 weeks after a long life of perfect health. She finally went almost all the way down Saturday night but then bounced back and hung on until this morning. She wasn't suffering as far as I could tell, but I didn't want to prolong things for her.
The kids are sad but holding up, and like most kids are kind of bouncing between normalcy and sadness already. I lay down for a nap and Sean kept coming in to check on me and give me a hug about every 20 minutes. :-)
A few pictures of my baby:

Missy was rescued by Jerrell Schmid in May of 1991 on the interstate across from the BJCC. She had started down the exit ramp, saw "something" on the side of the road, stopped her car and walked back up the exit and found this poor little scraggly grey kitten and brought her home. I had lost my previous cat not too long before that, Jerrell couldn't keep this one, so I took her home. I had the hardest time thinking of a name, but she was so scrawny and pitiful I thought of "Little Miss Nothing" and Missy became the shortened version of that. If any of my cousins reading this happen to have contact info for Jerrell, I'd love to write to her and thank her for bringing Missy to my life all those years ago.
Joseph's mom is in the hospital with stomach pain. We're spending the night with J.W. and taking him to the funeral tomorrow, assuming she's stable.
UPDATE: She's still in the hospital, they did an endoscopy this morning and a CT this afternoon. Don't know anything yet. No word on when she might go home.
