I guess that old saying holds true for our household right now. Not much has gone on since my last post. It does seem that things are slowing down a bit but that will change with the holidays coming up. I'm excited for the mega feasts of Thanksgiving and Christmas. We always go to my grandmothers and boy can she cook.
In October we attended a wedding for my 41 yr old cousin at the Brown in Louisville. It was a very nice wedding - probably the nicest I've ever been to or will go again. My cousin is one of the greatest people you could ever meet and had waited for the perfect person to spend the rest of his life with and I think he found her. I was so thrilled to witness him get married. You could see how happy he was. This was a "dressy" affair and I had purchased the perfect dress for it. Well, between the wedding and the dinner we had to go downstairs for appetizers while they took pictures and it was one of those "mingle" type things that has like 15 seats for 200 people. Well, Tyler was getting restless and wild and jumped and hit my arm and my diet coke went all over me! I was a tad bit upset but the good thing was that the dress was black and the lights in the Brown are VERY dim so you couldn't tell that I had diet coke all over me - the only place you could see it was in the bathroom where the lights were bright. I managed to dry out in about 30 minutes and the rest of the evening went without a hitch - food was awesome and they even had chicken fingers and ice cream for the kids.
We had a big halloween. Halloween has become Tyler's favorite holiday. He just loves all the decorations. I bought a lot more stuff on clearance for next year. We ended up only going to about 6 people's houses (family in Tompkinsville) and they both had a bucket overflowing and a wal-mart bag a piece. My dad's mom always had us a wal-mart bag when we were little and it had a ton of stuff in it but ALWAYS had a bananna or apple, can of soda and a moon pie. Since she has been gone my aunt that she lived with has carried on the same tradition. I don't think she really thinks about it - she just does what Mama Stella did. Every year I get teary eyed when I open the bag and make sure all the "required" halloween treats are in there. I think about her often but on halloween especially.
I guess it's on to Christmas - I don't like holiday shoppers - most seem very rude this time of year - I'm trying to do as much as I can online - how about you?
I work retail and each year the holidays become a little less fun. I obviously don't believe in the meaning that it's Christ's birthday..but I really think he would be so ashamed at all of the greed and materialism.
we have done some online but also some in the stores. Shopping this early, crowds are not a problem. I NEVER get my shopping done before thanksgiving, although I always intend to. BUT this year, I only have a couple presents left to buy!! I'm so excited! Dealing with store clerks is bad enough...the art of good customer service (it's more common sense and courtesy than it is an art) seems to be VERY lacking these days!
we're trying to get our holiday shopping done, but for reasons other than crowds! .... So far we only have a handful of presents left to buy AND I have all the ones we've bought wrapped!!
It seems each day that Tyler amazes me with something he says or does. He started the preschool program that his daycare has and I can already tell he is soaking up more information than ever before. Tuesday night after dinner he finished his plate and took it to the sink as normal (we started having him take his plate to the sink awhile ago so he would learn that he can help clean up). Well, he did something that cracked me and Adam up - he pulled over a chair to the sink and we asked what he was doing and he said "I'm gonna wash my plate". He rinsed off the plate with only water of course and got it "clean" and asked where it went. He was so proud of himself and we were so proud that he did it. We have never said anything to him about washing dishes.
I hope his good streak continues - it seems in the last 2-3 weeks he has grown up so much and has not been in trouble a lot. On the other hand Grace has hit the terrible two's. She is testing her limits. She is being bad all the way around and not listening but the worst part is she pesters Tyler. She gets in the middle of what he is doing, sits on him, pulls his hair, hits him and takes away whatever he has. As I said he has been so good and everytime she bothers him he is being very content and happy and she sets him off. When we tell her to stop or punish her it is like it doesn't phase her. I know it is just a stage and she is testing us but I feel sorry for Tyler cause he knows he can't hit back. Pretty bad when your 2 year old bullies your 4 year old. :)
Tyler was in Emily's wedding and did a great job. I was worried about it because he had said before that he didn't want to do it but he had a great time (even though he didn't smile much). I thought he was a great ringmaster (that's what he called it) - even though I'm a little biased! Of course he was fidgety and did spin the pillow around like most do but he actually stayed up with the guys the entire time. He really attached himself to one of the groomsmen (Jessie - hope I spelled that right). He wanted to be with him all of Friday night and Saturday. He talked about him for days after the wedding. If you are on here Jessie thanks for taking such good care of Tyler and playing with him and I'm sorry he attached himself to you :)
We've had a busy summer so I'm actually looking forward to fall/winter for things to slow down - only if it wouldn't get cold.
Grace a bully? I am starting to see that with Jonas a little too. For so long the younger one seems to go with the flow, then suddenly they realize they don't have to do things older siblings way:) Tyler is so good! I hope he is feeling better and you too!
aw, Tyler did do a great job! :) He was very helpful because everytime I wanted to cry, I looked at him spinning the pillow! haha:) Things are going great though!:)
Hello! I will be coming out your way soon! Oct.4-11. I get to keep Cameron for a week! Looking forward to seeing you too and how your kiddos have grown.

Thank you! It's kind of shocking how much they do pay attention when you don't think they are listening. I am doing better. The swelling has gone down in my face, but it is still pretty tender. I am going to the dentist on Wednesday to start crossing things off my list for the cause of the infection. How are you and your family?
Toby graduated with him. He is going to be a pallbearer at the funeral. It's so sad because he was so young, I cannot imagine what the family is going through.
Finally, pictures from disney. There were so many that Adam uploaded them to google - there are 5 different links for each day. All pictures taken are there even the fireworks that turned out fuzzy (didn't have time to delete the bad ones). There aren't as many as I expected but a lot of the time we were riding rides or watching shows so there was not a lot of opportunity for photos. Also, on day 2 Adam realized that he left the camera charger in BG so he limited himself on what pictures to take so the camera would not die before day 5. My sister has a lot of pictures too but we haven't gotten them yet. These should give you an idea of the fun that we had.
I've not taken the time to figure out how to link to a webpage on pleo so sorry but you'll have to cut and paste. :(
Looks like fun. I want to go to Disney, but now I guess we should wait a few more years. I haven't been since Christmas 1998 and I'm pretty sure Daniel has never been.
lol...a while ago. I don't know why aunt ruth didn't know...I thought mom told her...I know she told Aunt connie...it was in the T-ville paper last week. We sent invitations out saturday..I hope they get there pretty soon.
Don't worry about it! I just hope you get to feeling better. Class went great! All the boys did really well. I could tell Tyler wasn't feeling too good. He was really good, just a lot quiter than normal. Hope you are both feeling better. I just reviewed the same lesson, but they are ready to move on. Just let me know if you aren't feeling up to it. I don't mind teaching again!
