Steve Murrell, the preacher and one of the elders, at the Huffman church Christ here in Birmingham, Alabama, read this in closing his sermon today. I doubt there were many dry eyes in the building. I asked for a copy. I think it is good enough to be shared.
Our Country is in grave danger............
This is my prayer for us as God’s servants:
Our all wise and all merciful God and Father in Heaven: Hallowed is Your Name. We give praise to You as the only True and Living God and for Your Son who sits at Your right hand as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. May the borders of His Kingdom be expanded to every nation in the world and to every city, town, and village on earth.
We pray for all people everywhere, even for those who count themselves as our enemies, that they may come to the knowledge of The Truth. We pray for presidents, prime ministers, kings, and all in authority throughout the earth, that they may govern in such a manner that the Gospel of Your Kingdom may be preached freely in all their lands.
We especially pray for our own country which in Your care of the earth was raised up and given freedoms that were hardly imagined in other nations. And we thank You for those who have given of their time and their lives that we might have those freedoms. We especially pray for the young men and women who at this very time are laying their lives on the line for the freedoms we enjoy, and we pray that their seriousness toward life will cause them to seek You and seek to be soldiers in Your Kingdom.
Father, You know the killing fields of the abortionists in our land are more soaked with the blood of innocents than just about any nation in history, including those of the Nazis in the last century. You know that many of our courts are upholding the evil that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and sent them down to eternal fire.
We plead with You, as Abraham did, to spare this nation for the sake of the “ten righteous ones” that might be found in it.
We pray even more earnestly that You, through Your Son, will overrule in the affairs of men in this nation at this time, and give us leaders in our state houses, our Congress, and our White House that will protect the innocent among us and will give us an amendment that will define marriage that can be attained as it was in the beginning when You made one woman for one man as long as they both should live.
Father, we feel the shame of the sins that are before us as a nation and pray that Your Will may be done in all things, for Yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
