Tired of the election entry... 11-21-08 10:16pm CST
so here goes some kind of update..
1) Decorated for Christmas today...Never before this early..well maybe a couple of times. We celebrate Christmas with Allen's family the day after Thanksgiving if he is in the country. It is at our house this year so I had to get the house festive for that. It looks great!
2) I bought my Christmas present already. A Wii...yeah, crazy a 47 year old NANA wanting a Wii for Christmas, but what fun to play with our grandkids, boys (well, men..) and anyone else.
3) Allen comes from a week long meeting in WV on Monday and he will be here till Jan. YEAH!!! Home Christmas and Thanksgiving.
4) I am having surgery again on my Shoulder on the 18th of December. In the some ways it is tons better--in new ways it hurts and there is still some major pain that needs to be checked..FUN, FUN.
5) Our baby boy turns 25 on Monday. I was in the hospital now 25 years ago. He came 9 weeks early and weighed only 4 1/2 lbs. He was so very small. God blessed us, the doctors feared he would only be 2 lbs and not breathing on is own. He fooled them. They expected him to be in the hospital 9 weeks, he was in 10 days and been excelling every since.
6) I bought a new vehicle *new to me*. I have been looking for awhile. I will get it next week. I am so excited.
7) Thanksgiving Day is quickly approaching and I am excited, a little sad, Jason and Jennifer and kids are always here and won't be this year. They are going to her Sister's in Knoxville--believe I am not complaining, I have been very blessed to have them here every year since they married---I will just miss all of them.

That's it for now!

Happy Thanksgiving if I am not on here before then.
sjeanYou have lots to be thankful for. Hope you have a really nice Thanksgiving and Christmas weekend. Whew. You will be busy. A feast two days in a row.
graminatorWonderful holidays to you both ... come see us if you're out this way ... and I hope your surgery goes well!
aikenapeWow, Happy Early Birthday to Adam. Time sure does fly!
blesuHope you have a wonderful Holday season. Seems like everyone is having some sort of surgery in the month of December (trying to get it in before the 1st of the year and having to start all over again to reach their deductible). I will pray for a speedy recovery. I believe my Grandma Neva is having the same kind of surgery on her shoulder on Dec. 8th.
basil60Wii's are fun, no matter what age.

A response to a distress friend over the election: 11-05-08 03:50pm CST
Allen Malone here. I, too, am concerned for our nation. Like you, I am disappointed at the number of Americans who so want change that they do not care what the changes are, nor how godless they may be. But fundamentally, you and I are not going to do anything differently than we would have done had the election finished with Mr. McCain on top.

We already knew that neither candidate was worthy of our trust. We would have much preferred Mr. McCain as the leader of our nation, but our faith is not in any man.

What will we do?

1) We will remember the providential power and wisdom of our God.

We will refuse to forget that God is so powerful that He can raise up any leader He wants. We will remind ourselves that He is so wise that He can respect freedom of will while using our choices to achieve His purposes; that He is the One Who delights to show the world His divine power and proclaim His name in all the earth, and Who can do so through even the most wicked national leaders. (Exodus 9:17).

2) We will rest in the knowledge that God’s redemptive work will achieve its eternal purposes – no matter what.

We will recall that no matter what calamities may befall our nation because of its pride, materialism, immorality, and profanity, and no matter how much the righteous may have to suffer with the wicked, that “in all things God [will] work for the good of those who love Him.” We will rejoice in our knowledge that nothing can separate the people of God from His saving love. We will say, and keep saying, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:28-35).

3) We will honor the authority of our government and its leaders.

We will remember that our President and other leaders are ministers of God, whether or not they acknowledge Him. For the sake of the Lord, we will refuse to be among those who slander officials. We will show respect for everyone, especially President Obama. We will submit to and honor our leaders because we have a conscience for God (Romans 13:1-5 ; I Peter 2:13-17).

4) We will pray to God for our nation, and speak to our fellow citizens about our God.

In our longing that peace and tranquility will be preserved in our lives, we will, first of all, lift up “requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving…for all those in authority.” Rather than being distracted by the ungodly thinking and unholy lives of those around and above us, we will encourage godliness and holiness by persuing these in our own lives. We will do this because we know it is right and good, even if at times it seems futile. We will do this because it pleases our God and Savior, “Who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the Truth.” We will do this trusting in the one mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all. (I Timothy 2:1-6).

May we be lights in a dark world, channels of grace, heavenly citizens who are content to be aliens here below.

Praise be to God!
Allen

Allen wrote this to our friend and it was so good I thought some of you might need to read it as well.
blesuThose are great thoughts. It is good to be reminded who really is in control.
aikenapeThey ARE great thoughts. I've been a little down today thinking about this election, but I keep reminding myself that it's God will and He will take care of us in the end if we are faithful. And we all need to be respectful of everyone, including our leaders, whether or not we happen to agree with them. It's simply the right thing to do.
sjeanI've been having similsr thoughts. We had a baptism on Monday evening and another one tonight. That puts it all in perspective for me. My citizenship is in heaven.
memyselfandiThank you for posting this, and thank Allen for writing it!!!
didowVery well said. Thanks for sharing.
satbThank you for your thoughts, Allen, and may we ever strive to be "lights in a dark world."

Jeff Kingry 10-05-08 03:19pm CST
I received word this afternoon that Jeff Kingry passed from this life at 2Am this morning (Sunday?). He was in the hospital in San Antonio, where he had been sent because of Hurricane Ike in the Houston area. He seemed to be doing well after the surgery, but Anna has said to a mutual friend she thinks it may have been a blood clot that took his life. She said his services would probably be in Huntsville, Tx.
Jeff was an amazing evangelist that had been given a great ability to figure out how to spread the gospel in areas that most of us were unsure of how to do it or where to begin.
Allen and I owe him a great deal. He introduced Allen to the work in Vietnam 15 1/2 years ago and it changed our lives.
1000s have been led to Christ by his trailblazing the way in countries like China, Vietnam, Indonesia and many more. We thank God for Jeff and his influence and ability.
May God be with his family at this time.

address for Anna:

sjeanI had heard he was very sick. He certainly did a lot of good in his life.
marmeeJeff was our father in the gospel. He led us to China, which changed our life, too. We, too, pray blessings on his family.
graminatorThanks for passing the word along ...
lancerfanThough there be tears of grief on earth, there are showers of joy in heaven.
madeahThanks for posting Anna's address. I heard this yesterday. Jeff did many things to spread the gospel that others either would not or could not do.
blesuHey, I wanted to tell you that some of our dear friends are in the middle of adopting a baby girl (10months) from Vietnam. Jesse is in Vietnam RIGHT now. If you go to Kim's post you can see some photos and hear about what they are experiencing.

The Stars.. 10-01-08 10:19pm CST
Tonight as I was moving the trash can to the street, I looked up at the starts. They were so clear and beautiful. I was amazed. It has been so long since I just stopped and appreciated their beauty. So I DID!
basil60It's breathtaking, isn't it.
blesuIf we would just slow down we would see God a whole lot more. I think I'll make a point to look up this evening.
graminatorI think sometimes about the difference in our world and the world of Abraham and Jesus ... I think we have to work harder to stay in touch with our Creator ... glad your friend is doing well!
betsysI love looking at the stars, but don't do it very often. God has blessed us with so many of his beautiful artwork.
julieannsmomsorry i didn't pull to the street for you. I left it way down by the garage...oops!
didowThere are times I wish we lived a more outdoorsy life. I can go all day and never go outside.
trishieWe went camping this weekend and I noticed the stars and what a blessing they are because of their beauty.
