ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL????!!!! 09-04-08 06:57pm CST

What a disappointment!! Or is it? 08-13-08 11:50am CST
Is it just because their expectations were so high going into the finals as World Champions, that the U.S. womens gymanastic team is so upset over their Silver? I think, considering all their flubbubs, they should be thankful for that much!! Look at the men - they received Bronze and were ecstatic about it. Makes the women look totally ungrateful. But who am I to judge?!! I'm just enjoying the drama!

What's your open onion (opinion) on this?!!

And have I mentioned what a stud Michael Phelps is??!! :)
goodetwoshoesI'm afraid I have nothing better to talk about right now, as I'm having to stay off my feet and the Olympic games have been my source of enteratainment! Thanks for bearing with me and indulging my obsession with the games!
ckoehler13I thought the same thing...all those girls are like 15-20 yrs old, in china, in the olympics, and they look miserable!! They need to be thankful. they might have done better if they just would have gone out there and enjoyed themselves
goodetwoshoesYep, I think the pressure got to them. The Chinese didn't have anything to lose. And how old are they, really??!!
turner120995Wikipedia's entry for Mark Spitz references an article that cast an unfavorable light on the current holder of the record for most gold medals in a single Olympics. Of course, that is 7 and the sport was also swimming. (I actually have memories of the 1972 games in Munich.)

Read the quotes near the bottom of the page. I don't know why he has such a bad attitude. There must be a history behind it. Still, he could have had a love for the sport and the individuals that participate in it, particularly since it is one of his own countrymen. If I were Spitz, I would have wanted to go and somehow disguised myself until Phelps broke the record, just so as not to add any more pressure on the lad. But then, how cool would it be to see Spitz come out of the stands if Phelps gets #8 and surprise the kid with a hug! There would not be a dry eye in the house!!

Finally, did you see the spot where the NBC reported sat with Phelps mom during one of the races. She was screaming for her son and squeezing the reporter's knee. I looked at Michelle and said, "It doesn't matter the situation. A mom is a mom!".
DessertDivaI can't believe that the Olympic Committee didn't invite Spitz to the swimming events! That's crazy!!

I haven't watched the Womens Gymnastic competition yet - it's TiVo'd. I do already know what happened but I want to see it for myself. :)
LizWilcoxLuckily for me, Isaiah decided it was time to wake up at 5:00 am. So we got to enjoy ALL the morning news. Thanks son. :)

I saw them on the Today show and thought the same thing. I guess since they were the reigning champions it was a blow to receive silver but they acted (to me) like it was last place.

As a side note... What is up with their voices? Did they swallow some helium or what?
goodetwoshoesI can see how having Spitz there would put a lot of pressure on Phelps, but yes, that would be so cool to have Spitz congratulate him when he gets #8. There's a lot of ultra sensitive people at, or not at, these games! Can't Spitz just go on his own accord, or does he have to be invited? What's the big deal there?
goodetwoshoesDid you notice I said, "When" he gets #8?! :) I thought his mom was pretty adorable cheering on her son, squeezing Chris's leg! Proud moment! I heard Chris in an interview with Bob Costas, saying he was cheering on Phelps to hurry up too!! :)
goodetwoshoesSpeaking of Bob Costas, does anyone agree with me that it's time he quit coloring his hair??!! :)
goodetwoshoesI just re-read Spitz's quote about not going to the games on his own, without an invitation, and how he would also have 8 if the 50m freestyle was an event at the time. How arrogant! He should get over it and go cheer on his fellow American!
uddaWe hope you are getting something done besides watching the Olympics; like getting some rest!! LOL! We of course haven't seen any of the games. Beautiful weather here; probably pretty warm over on Lake Wenatchee. I noticed on today's weather that our low temp last night was same as yours.
turner120995Did you read in my earlier comment (see below "Let the games begin...") that I had mentioned Bob Costas' hair? It was the same comment where I said that Jim Lampley was sure looking old due to his gray hair.

After I made that comment, Michelle and I were talking and besides definitely looking like he colors his hair, we were not even sure if that was actually his hair or a topee on top of his head. Whatever it is, it certainly looks strange.

I do admit to liking Bob Costas as an interviewer. Sure, I think that he has a big ego, but the guy certainly does his research and I do admire him for that. For example, I thought that he did a great job with President Bush. I thought that it was humorous, however, when he interviewed the Romanian/American gymnastics coach - Bertoyli, or whatever his name is. Costas was straining to understand the accent and glean what the passionate old guy was saying. About all Costas could think to say in responce was, "So, you think that errors will be the deciding factor tonight?" Ummm, Bob, that's a big DUH!!! :)
ShirlEI am afraid in this country we are always told, be number 1! You have got to be first, or the strongest, always the best! That's why in my opinion the U.S. women were so upset on "only winning SILVER!" It's gold or nothing. I find this so sad, I mean just to be in the Olympics representing your country should make you feel so awesome. At least I see what a neat thing this is to be so special and to win silver! Come on, I would be all smiles!
iamamy1994Oh yeah, it was a blast(: I know I realized I didn't have any pictures of her on my camera. I took a really cute one of her and Brittney on my phone tho!
horseloverHi! I am right handed and it is hard to write.
hennyfirWow! I love cheese! It sounds like a plan!! =D

CONGRATULATIONS MEN'S GYMNASTICS TEAM!! 08-12-08 07:56am CST
I have to say I've been blown away by those gymnasts! How do they do that??!! They are so incredibly strong and athletic, and so entertaining to watch!

So what's your favorite sport(s) of these Olympic games?
goodetwoshoesI love the swimming too, I'm watching it right now!
stylinmamaEh, it's easy. I could do what they do. Ha! ;)
goodetwoshoesThey sure make it look easy, don't they?! :)
goodetwoshoesI think I'm even more impressed because I could never even do a cart wheel!
DessertDivaI used to be able to do a cartwheel but now it hurts :)
ShirlEtrack, swimming. gymnastics., vollyball, basketball, pretty much all! I love to watch the competion that these people have with other countries. I just think it is awesome entertainment, and better them most of the shows on t.v. Maybe that's why it's sports sports and more sports for me.
goodetwoshoesOh whatever! It sounds like two words to me!! Maybe that's why I could never do one! ha! Thanks for pointing that out, Chad! :)

MY GIRLIES ARE HOME!!!!! Yippy Skippy!!!! 08-06-08 06:11pm CST

I AM SO READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!

I know I'm a little early, but I feel it in the air already! I love football season!! Yes, that is why Denny married me! As you know, Dallas Cowboys are the favorite around here! (Except Bec, she's her hometown Seahawks fan! And the other two are Packers traitors just to get Denny's goat!) So, what's your favorite? Baseball or Football? NFL or College? And who's "your" team? Or could you just really care less??!! :)

Is the Favre Saga finally over?! I mean, c'mon, it was getting a little old! Yes, I do realize I've put my life in danger around here by saying that! That's why I'm ending with that - there's just sooo much more I could say!! :P

sillyrabbitBaseball is my favorite, but I love football too. The Braves are my team, and I don't keep up with the NFL, just college football.
hennypennyI'm a HUGE Raiders fan.
That is such a lie. I have no idea what name goes with what sport. :)
gamommaFootball all the way! I was so excited to start watching it last Sunday! I am a University of Tennessee girl! I am slightly obsessed with them and always have been. I also love NFL - Colts are my team (back to the UT thing there with Peyton Manning!). My husband is not a huge football fan and is the football widower around here!
DessertDivaI love baseball and football equally.

College basketball (only sometimes): UW Huskies
College anything else (esp FOOTBALL!): UW Huskies

NFL: Seahawks
MLB: Mariners

I'll also cheer on UF and Oregon teams as long as they're not playing us!
ckoehler13Green Bay Packers!!!
turner120995Are there any New York Jets fans in Wisconsin?
ShirlEHey, I love your blue and white for the cowboys! I might copy it for football season! I will give Donna a hug for you, she has been sitting right next to me since I have moved back a few rows! She is a very sweet lady!
ckoehler13No!!!!
LizWilcoxGlad your girls are home!

How funny about the sheets! I just love them. I bet you don't have mint green walls to (NOT)match? I know you're envious. :) I was very careful to not get them in the pictures! It's awful! We need to paint so badly. I'm thinking a chocolate color. Or like mom says, "why don't you just call it brown?" :)
ShirlEShe is such a brat! She knows I hate chocolate so why not a tan or brown! She always has been uppity! chocolate, whatever Miss Priss! Anyway baseball is my favorite,Yankees! Football (NFL) hands down is the COWBOYS! College football is Tennessee! Manning is so cute, I mean... such a good player!!!!!
DessertDivaAw, you're so sweet! I love your new friends list :) Very cool!
uddaMom says she's glad you miss her and remember her scientific experiments in the frig!
uddaA Baldwin piano was advertised in the paper for free. We looked at it Wednesday and had it delivered yesterday. Beautiful, really great shape; it's a Baldwin "Acrosonic" (spinet). Mom is thrilled with it; doesn't need a lot of tuning. We rearranged the living and like the change.
uddaS&L came up Wed. and left yesterday for Victoria. The 3 blondes are having fun with Jen Jen; Bill & Sandy went to Victoria for a week, so Jen is with us. Hannah is amazing on the piano on a couple of songs she plays from memory. S&L are due back today. Stephen is working four ten hour shifts Sat.-Wed., so they were able to take these days off.
mistamjoI'm not a very good spectator. Get easily bored. But if I have the energy I love to get out and play. (not baseball though - the boredonm thing again)
rebeccabloomHey, I'm on the top of your friends list:)!!
turner120995I will try it. It just sounds yucky, but I will try it.
turner120995It is in Michelle's shopping cart as I type...

Michelle laughed. She said, "Yeah, some stranger tells you to take it and you do. If I told you to take it, you never would!" (which is not true)
uddaDid you find out how you got on gold? what's good about it other than private blog?
udda^Never mind, I found out how to access the "extras" with "gold."
seattleladybugi have been told that College Football is HUGE down here in the south so i decided to just pick a team at random but i am actually a little torn. South Carolina Gamecocks or Georgia Bulldogs
meggypegNeither baseball nor football...its all about the hockey! Go Anaheim Ducks!
ironicI hafta go with NASCAR. Whoooo, baby, fun sport right there. I know alot of people say it is boring and repetitive; but, I challenge those people to watch more closely. Maybe, I'm just a car fanatic, but it sure is sweet! Milwaukee Brewers are a favorite of mine too. :D
batgyverThe Dallas Cowboys-they stand for excellence, the never-say-die attitude, and belief that no matter how bad things are going you can always win if you just keep fighting until the final gun. That attitude is how we should approach our lives!! and thats what makes Dallas Cowboys football so dramatically beautiful!!1
batgyverHow could you say that about about the Favre saga goodetwoshoes? That quarterback has been like a brother to you! (lol)
