Down came the rain and washed the spider out... 11-14-08 08:52pm EST
I kinda was concerned Shandi, the kids and I were going to meet that spider in the rain while walking on the greenway today. Thankfully we only saw a few drops of rain and got in 2 1/2 miles with very humid but nice weather.

Wayne has said for years you can tell the kind of winter by how bushy the squirrels tails are. On our walk we saw 3 - one tail was very bushy, one was very thin, and one was an albino squirrel and we were so amazed by it we forgot to look at his tail! We deduced our winter is going to be mild but that a northern squirrel with a very bushy tail had traveled down to Tn for warmer winter and another was passing through TN to FL to get a better tan! ( Sounds good anyway!)

The greenway is so beautiful. I haven't been on it any season you couldn't find beauty there! Trees overhang the river, animals abound. The sky and water seem to draw you down the path while the trees envelop you in peace away from the goings on of the world that is so close. It is almost an intrusion when you come to a bridge with cars noisily roaring overhead. Or pass a golf course (sorry Daryl) from which I know I will be the first person on the greenway hit by a ball!

People out walking, jogging, and biking react friendly and you forget the crime rate, the wars, and the hateful way humans sometimes act toward each other. There are colorful leaves to investigate, bumpy Osage oranges to touch, animals to discover and blessings from God to ponder and give thanks for.

'I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?'
Psalm 77:11-13

acurtisWe had a scavenger hunt and I had some of these exact same thoughts. It's wonderful how amazed 2 year olds are at God's simplest creations!
shieldmaiden_rosaglad you enjoyed your walk :-)
grannyA fine chuckle over those tails. You indeed have a beautiful country to freely walk, jog and bike -- and react friendly on meeting one another. May this country always be so blessed.
flute92I love the Greenway too! :)

3nd trip to the hospital this week 11-08-08 11:19pm EST
My brother in law had surgery on Monday and on Tues Rachel got rear ended while setting at and ATM, tonight she went to the ER for pain in her right side and they told her it could be a kidney stone!

Dee is crying her eyes out in her bed and is struggling to breath because of congestion.

I am very good at grocery shopping, storing, chopping, measuring, and waiting...I am not very good at creativity in cooking. I am so looking for HEALTHY INEXPENSIVE recipes. Something the family will eat and not think ...uh, that tasted so healthy it was not edible! Ideas??? Please??? Fast??? I have crock pots, 2 freezers, blender, grain mill, and almost any other appliance. I keep putting my recipes in the appliances but all that comes out is burnt or shredded paper!
amandochkaI like taco soup...it's really easy and it's pretty cheap. I throw it in the pot before work and 8 hrs later it's a yummy treat. The only real cooking involved is browning the hamburger meat. The recipe is available in the recipe_exchange group.
lol_smile456chicken casseroli!! yummy!!
kerrieleeWell,I have tons of recipes, but as you know they are not always on the healthy side.Try my pork tenderloin,on my recipe blog Kerrie's Kitchen,it's fairly healthy.
shieldmaiden_rosaI hope Rachel is doing better!

Busy Week 11-06-08 11:19pm EST
This week has been one of thos go go go weeks. On Monday I spent the day at the hospital with my brother in law wha had had back surgery. This was after an appointment I had that morning. Tuesday was 2 Dr appointments and a thrid appointment as well as voting. I thought I only had 3 appointments on Wed but to my surprise when I went to the Sleep Clinic they had had a cancelation for that evening and I could have my sleep study done that night! Boy was I ever excited - NOT! I had to leave services right after class was over and get to the study - which was awful!!! I didn't get to sleep until well past 1 am and a sleeping pill! Today I baby sat the kids while Shandi went to have a root canal - an came home with 2 instead of one! I had to take the kids to the Dr and come home to clean house and still felt drugged. When the kids went down for a nap I convienced myself I would just read for a little... and I did but only because after a little I fell fast asleep. So much for getting things done. :(

On a much more sober note:

I must admit I feel shame for writing the following about my brother and at the same time I am upset with myself for how I feel. I want to ask for your prayers for my brother. He has lived a life of sin and below I give his most recent event. One thing he does do is make me look hard at myself. His life is one of total disreguard for the Lord and yet if there are areas in my life that I don't have right with God, if there are struggles I don't overcome, if there are parts of the world I try to hold on to I am going to the same eternal punishment as he is and sitting on a pew 3x a week, 'acting' like a christian vs BEING a christian is not going to save me from that. So while I ask you to pray for him I am also asking you to pary for me.

My childhood was, like so many, challenging and not all my siblings came through it with a love for the Lord. I have one brother who is an addict to both drugs and drink. He lies, steals, and recently got into a fight and sliced another man's throat. He went to jail to await trial and, because the man was an illegal alien he did not show up in court. My brother's hearing date has been reset 2x and he will not be punished if the state doesn't take over the case. I don't WANT my brother in jail but he has slipped through the legal cracks over and over and he has absolutely NO remorse. My prayer is he finally receives the punishment he needs and it brings repentence to both man and God before he faces eternal punishment. But what it appears is going to happen is he will be released because the man doesn't show up. This just solidifies my brother's idea he can do all wrong and there is no punishment.
crazy_mamaThanks for that comment!
mattmanuaIt's not true.
lol_smile456I'll pray for him!

Titans! 10-27-08 11:16pm EST
Even I know how important the Titans/Colts game was... So glad the Titans won! It was an exciting and totally enjoyable game! I thought the broadcasting was almost as interesting as the game. The ESPN announcers couldn't say enough about how the last 6 games were bad teams losing to the Titans. When they began to turn around the announcers said, "Whowould have predicted this?"( when 6 out 0f 8 from ESPN picked the Titans before the game) Yeah - after hearing the announcers I am REALLY glad the Titans won!!!
kerrieleeYeah,we get no RESPECT!yes,my back held out but my voice not so much, the way we were screaming, you'd have thought we were at L.P.Feild.I am sure they heard us.
amandochkaWhoo hoo! We were supporting the home team here although everybody is a Colt fan around here. They all love Peyton. I'm pretty sure he would win the mayor race here if he wanted it.
karliemichellei know all they ever kept saying was the colts have peyton manning..peyton this peyton that...guess we proved that just bc you have peyton manning doesn't make you invincible
lol_smile456I hated it!!!!!! lol
allgirlmomHey Now!! You gotta love Peyton! Go TITANS!!! but lay off my Peyton!!
flute92Oh my... I have never watched a football game straight through in my life. Actually, I don't even know if I've seen five minutes of one.

Pear picking 10-20-08 01:24pm EST
This morning Shandi, the kids and I went to Paul and Nancy's to pick some pears. We were told they were the hard small pears but we were after the expirence more than the pears. We got about 20 pears by picking and shaking the tree. One went over the fence because we heard the donkeys like pears. The others came home and will be made into a bundt cake and pear almond muffins. Jesse had a blast and Shandi captured it on camera. Dee 'observed' and acted as "supervisor". Tonight we will have homemade hot wings and take some of them and some pear bundt cake to Paul and Nancy as well as a picture Jesse is making to say Thank You.
The kids and Shandi are on a walk now and I need to be off to the store. Have a great day and take care!
acurtisThat sounds so nice! It's a PERFECT day to do anything outside. We just got back from walking for a whole hour. The time just got away from me, but both kids were loving it, so I just kept going! Glad all is well in your corner of the worlk.
acurtis...world =)
lol_smile456fun!!!
