My trip to Hawaii was wonderful. I enjoyed so much being with Katie and Roree. Katie had a master plan to take me to places that I had not been before on the island. Quite a fete since I have been there six or seven times. We went to the Macadamia Nut Farm and took a tour on a rickety old bus and a canoe trip out on a man made lake. We also went to tour the Missouri on Ford Island. You should have seen me going up and down ladders on this huge ship! I did pretty well for an "old" lady! The most unique and unusual place Katie took me was to see the royal "birthing stones." It is a place where Hawaiian royalty used to go to have their babies. It is out in a cane field and it is an outdoor labor and delivery room on actual stones that look like couches or chairs. We also went to see Madagascar II. It was cute. My last day there we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. Of course we also went to the north shore to see the waves. What beautiful scenery. The best part though was spending time with Katie and Roree. I'm just sorry Josh wasn't there too. All in all my birthday gift was the best one ever. Aloha
Aloha, sounds like you had a fab time. It really is beautiful there especially when you have family there. I'm sure I will be going back in the future. I would love to see the royal birthing stones.
It was great! You were absolutely right! Accept, you know that part in the movie where Christine faints and the phantom catches her and lies her down on the bed? In the play, he just let her fall on the stage and covered her with his jacket! What's up with that?
We had to take our little doxie Moussie to the vet yesterday. We discovered a lump on his backside. He didn't seem to notice it himself but we thought we should have a vet check it out. He told us that Moussie has a very bad heart murmur and he took a biopsy of the lump. He called today and said that he has a cancerous tumor but it is not the kind that spreads. The lump may get bigger however. We have decided that since he will be 13 years old on Dec. 13th that we are not going to have him go through surgery. He does not seem to be in any discomfort. The vet said we will monitor him and when the time comes that he is in pain we can decide what course to take. Of course we are very sad because he has been a part of this family for such a long time and he has always been such a good dog.
I am so sorry. I know how attatched you can get to a puppy. Maybe he will surprise you, and feel just fine for awhile yet. I am glad you decided to just let things keep going how they are. I think he will be happier that way.
October is here. The month that contains my favorite holiday! It also contains the birthdays of some of my favorite people: Leslie, Andrew, Dewey, Cristian, Catherine, Robert, Judy, and Samuel. As the family grows larger you can see why birthdays have been reduced to just cards for the most part. The little ones still get a little something more from Granny and Grampy but for the bigger ones "the card's the thing." We certainly enjoyed having Aimee and the boys and Rusty and Catherine here last month for my milestone birthday. I can report that both Grampy and I are doing well and we try to keep busy. He is working once again on his model airplanes (building them) and I have my normal activities like my writing class and the journaling/creative writing class that I teach twice a month. I am also very busy with "Think Pink Month" activities. We had our first cancer walk and booth on the 4th. We will have our booth set up at the local hospital for National Mammography Day and I am still trying to get enough stories for our second survivors book "Bands of Hope." If you know anyone who would like to have their own story published and get a free copy of the book please have them e-mail it to me at mddakin@hotmail.com or send it to me by snail mail to OWCS (Oroville Women Cancer Support) P.O. Box 1554, Oroville, CA 95966. We need about 8 more stories. This year our t-shirts for the walk were sponsored by Sigma Phi Gamma and I'm glad I didn't get one for Russ this year because I don't think he would have worn it. It grey with a huge pink ribbon on the front wearing tennis shoes and the writing on the front says "Ta Tas are worth walking for." He did however wear a bright pink one one year. He is a good sport. Love to all.
Well it is September and my grandchildren have come to visit their Grandma and of course their Mom and Dad. Rusty and Catherine are already here and Aimee and the three "greats" will be here on Saturday. I am so anxious to see all of them and to be able to hear Rusty preach on Sunday. Katie and Roree were already here a couple of weeks ago and it was so good to see them and to be able to see my "grandson" Josh. I am so proud of the fine Marine he is and to see what a good daddy he is to Roree. Grampy is doing well after his stints and pacemaker and is on his way to full recovery. I got an early birthday present from him. A new living room set. My old one was pretty old and decrepit. This one is ctually soft and comfy! Of course no other "presents" can compare with the "presence" of my grandchildren. It is hard to believe that In a few days I will be 70. I still feel like I should be half that age. Of course four grown children, seven grandchildren (most of whom are grown) and seven greats put to naught that feeling. I am truly blessed and I count my blessings every day.
I just wanted to tell you Happy Birthday Grandma!
Though you have traveled around our great sun 70 times, the cosmic winds have not been able to sheer away the youth of your spirit. The helm of the subheavenly ship your spirit commands is embarked on a purposeful journey with just enough power and soundness to reach the heavenly ship that is being built. A craft that awaits you to leave this temporal worn craft and take command of an eternal craft that will lead you into new and perfect journeys that no man can even begin to accurately imagine. Oh blessed commander that you are to be so much closer than most to acquiring such magnificence and honor. But until that time comes you have subheavenly adventures and journeys still yet to command. Continue to command them well dear grandmother.
Your loving grandson, Moses.
Well Grampy had his angiogram on Wednesday and they found two blockages, one 75% and one 70%, so they put in two stents and sent him home. However his blood pressure was way too high and his pulse rate was in the 30's so the doctor is going to put in a pacemaker on Monday at 3:00 p.m. Hopefully this will do the trick and he can feel much more normal with a more normal heartbeat. Thanks to all who have e-mailed or called but especially to all who have kept him in their prayers.
