Now that school is officially underway, I have a feeling my time spent on pleonast will be extremely limited. Keeping up with twenty-two first graders, and all that entails, takes much of my time at home planning, preparing visuals, and checking work, etc. and etc. So, I hope to keep in touch with all of you, but if you need to get info. to me quickly, then please e-mail me. I have a sweet class this year and the usual challenges that go along with teaching, but I'm happy to be where I am and pray that I can be a good influence in the lives of my students and my colleagues. Teaching first grade is certainly a growing experience for me.
Kevan and I anxiously await the arrival of our sweet granddaughter, Ashlyn Joy in November! Tim and Amanda are going to be wonderful parents and little Ashlyn will be surrounded by people who love her! We can hardly wait!
I know you must be a tremendous blessing to all those children! Have a wonderful year, and I'll be praying for a happy, healthy delivery of your newest granddaughter. :)
You win the prize for best answer on my entry... okay so there is no prize but that is priceless. Enjoy your sweet babies. Hope things are going well for you all.
Amen on the granchildren as a blessing! I am glad that you are off to a good start on the school year! I am still busier than ever and enjoying every moment of it! I hope that you and Kevan are both well. Your family is really growing! I hate that we missed you guys this summer. Could you please email me so that I can make sure that I have your address? Mine is alli1414@gmail. Have a great rest of the week! Love you! Allison
Before leaving campus on the last day of school in May, my principal encouraged all of us to spend time 'sharpening our saws' this summer. What a blessing it has been for me to have a break in the routine. The weeks in the summer truly are a time of refreshing for me. I hope that when school starts on August 25th I will be prepared to meet the challenges that await me with a sharpened saw!
Summer also affords us time to spend with our loved ones. We were blessed to have had a few days with all of our children and grandchildren, and will also enjoy time in the next couple of weeks with our parents and siblings. No matter what the age, parents long to be with their children and grandchildren. We are so thankful for every minute we have with ours!
Hope all of you enjoy the remaining weeks of summer. Happy saw sharpening!
This wasn't planned, but it looks like I'm next! We will be in Houston the same time. We are going to the Kleinwood singing, and the next day is my cousin's wedding. We'll Sunday after lunch, and then back to work for me! IO don't think my saw is sharp enough yet! :( Tell all in SAT I said hi!
What do you teach? Music? I can't remember if I told you, or if you've read through enough of my blogs to know I teach in a pull-out MTA dyslexia program and I love it. It is so rewarding and those kids are extremely sharp. Glad you could be with all the family.
There was onr night in particular. We were sitting down talking down, when we heard the door shut. Some guys in the back of the cabin said, "I saw a man come in the cabin!" That got most everone riled up, thinking a man was in our cabin trying to get us. This was at aroung twelve thirty. At about one, me and two of my friends decided to go tell Luke Perkins (one of the JC's) what was going on so we could sleep. We went in thier room, and looked around, but Luke wasnt there. We then decided to ask Josh Kirby. My friends and I walked to Josh's bunk, and I was at the bed post, one of my friends stood in the middle of Josh's bed and another councelor named Bruce Scott's bed, and my otheer friend sat gently on Josh's bed and tapped him, and was three feet from Josh's face, and said, "Josh." Josh had apparently heard the guys saying "There's a man in the cabin," and was alert. When my friend woke him up, Josh leaped out of bed, hollering at the top of hi lungs, going, "AHHHH WAAAAAA RAAAA AHH!!!!!" He was flailing his arms around, and started to beat up my two friends, hitting them in the back of thier heads, and kicking them, and everything else. I jumped back ten feet, in terror. This then woke up Bruce, and he got my friend who woke up Josh in a head lock, now screaming. All the while, my friend was trying to say it was him, but everytime, he'd get hit. He finally, spluttered out, "its Austin!" Bruce then released him, and Josh calmed down. They both thought Austin was the man. After a minute or two, we started cracking up uncontrollably. It was insane. At the awards ceremony, Josh got a fake wrestling belt as a joke.
What a precious picture, Graw! :) I like that image of sharpening a saw. Summer band starts August 4th at the high school, so I don't have much time left for sharpening. Yikes!
Hey Ms. Lori. It's Emily Vernon. Glad to see you on Pleo. Last time I talked to Evan Woods, he said you guys had left Wylie and have been working with a congregation in Lubbock for a while. I hope you all are doing well and enjoying it. Congrats on the new grand-baby!
What a honey in that pic! Hope you enjoy your last few weeks! Can't believe it is over! I will have a 4th grader and an 8th grader! Where has the time gone? I need to stop , slow down and smell the roses! Hope all is well with you!!
Hi Lori! We are doing great! Just saw Tim & Amanda last weekend at the wedding. So cute! Yes - my brother does write bible class material called "Get Them Talking".
Just came across you on another blog and figured out who you are. We lived in FW last year and met T and A there, and my parents recently moved to Philly so now we know P and Sh too. My Sophia LOVED spending time with your granddaughter Carynne. We're living in Guatemala and love it (most of the time). Congrats on more grandbabies! We still haven't seen a photo of Phil's #3. Have to get onto my parents about that!!
Hey Anita told me about your new house. Did you guys find the right lot? I think I know the young man who was showing you the property. Nita mentioned his last name was Dulin?
your post prompted me to get busy. On Thursday we are having a teacher/school workers luncheon for all the great Castleberry ladies who are about to "go back" to school . Pat Underwood is doing a little devotional for them. Thanks for the inspiration.
thats so funny that you say that about the dishes...dave usually loads the first load of dishes when we have a big sunday lunch with lots of guests and lots of dishes. it makes it easy to want to have company.
Tim and Amanda announced yesterday that they are having a little girl! We are so thrilled for them and now we can start looking for little things in pink! She is due on November 26th, so we are going to be especially thankful this Thanksgiving! Thank-you for your continued prayers. Happy July 4th!
It's good to hear from you. I'll pass along your greetings to Josh and Lisa next week...Jimmy's nephew from Kansas is marrying a girl from Centerville, so we'll see them there. With our grandchildren so far away, I sometimes resort to borrowing some from members here. This morning there were two here, playing inside for a while, then snacking outside and playing on The Mountain (a huge pile of dirt in our backyard from excavating for a driveway).
It is so neat to see you on Pleo! Another girl?!! What fun! They will all enjoy one another's company when gathered at Graw's house. I am sure that you have been terribly busy getting ready for the fall semester. I hope that we will both have a few minutes to visit this weekend. I'll call you when we are in town Saturday. Hopefully it won't take long to do what we have to do.
You're sweet to say that, but I do look a lot older than I did before all the upheaval. At 36 I was mistaken for a high school student! I tell my flute students that I still feel 17 on the inside. :)
Now you have colored names??? You have really spiced up your pleo! We are back from camp, little tired, but had a great week! So excited about the baby!
Lainy has a very different personality from Lindy...I believe Lisa's dad calls her a "lap baby," because she is content to just sit in people's lap for long periods of time. She's army crawling now. I "talked to her" on the phone today. Lindy is one busy little girl!
When are you leaving for San Antonio? Amanda got home today from camp. Connie and Rebecca are still here. Mom is doing a little better, this was a little rougher than the last one.
Hello Everyone! I can hardly believe that today is June 30. I am determined to finish in my classroom today so that I don't have to step foot back into my school until August. That's my goal at least. Moving into a larger room with a sink, restroom, storage closet, and window is terrific, but also a lot of work. For my own sanity I have to get everything organized and in place before I officially start back for inservice meetings, etc. because there will be very little time to do those kinds of things at that time.
Kevan and I are excited to learn the gender of grandbaby #4 in a few days! Tim and Amanda are coming on July 3rd and will have that news to give us in person. We are driving to Palo Duro Canyon on the 4th to see the musical 'Texas' and will enjoy a steak dinner catered by The Big Texan before the show. Kevan and I went to Palo Duro on our honeymoom 29 years ago! We returned to see the musical once when our boys were young, but I don't think they remember too much about it. They have a big fireworks display after the show. It should be a fun trip for all of us. Just wish Phil, Shante, and family weren't so far away, so that they could go with us too.
Hope all of you are able to enjoy time with your loved ones on the 4th! Have a blessed week!
I can totally relate about getting the classroom ready ahead of time- I don't know how some people get everything done once inservices start! Y'all enjoy the fourth!
Hey Lori! Thanks SO much for having Sara for the week! She really LOVES choir camp and enjoyed staying with you all. She sure has grown up. So has Becca! She's leaving for FC in a month and a half!!!!! aauugghh!! I'm sure you'll let us know about the new baby gender!!!!!!! Have a great time!
How fun! We loved going to Palo Duro Canyon, and seeing the Texas play. Y'all are going to have a great time. Have y'all been to the museum off of the Tech campus yet? Of course I can't remember the name...because I never remember names! It is a wonderful museum for kids. We are so happy about #4!!! Please tell Tim and Amanda hello for us!
That is so cute. I was remebering the other day when it used to be the four of you and Heide and Fritz. I can't believe how much your family has grown wow!
Oh, I see my comment earlier was posted in the wrong spot, apparently! I designed MY family, but haven't figured out how to import it to my web page! :)
In the box where the friend name goes, you type a "code" before the name. I don't think I can type it here or it will show up in color. So if my explanation doesn't make sense, maybe I can email the exact code.
When you send a "code" it has to have these brackets directly before and after: Inside them put: font color=red (or lightblue, teal, pink, etc.) Put that directly before the name in the box with no space: ...code>Anita
I love the family!!! I remember Friday nights in Stephenville. Y'all couldn't get rid of me :) Thanks for all those times. I hope one day when my kids are in college, away from home they find wonderful families like I did!
