I am loving the fact that it is 70 degrees in my house right now without air conditioning! I LOVE fall! One of the main reasons is because of Halloween. Don't laugh, but it is my FAVORITE holiday! I am not sure why I like it better than Christmas. There is just something about seeing kids get so excited about candy and dressing up, I guess. I know part of it could be that as a child my Mom and I would start planning my costume in the summer time. I think she made me a costume every year until I was about 15 or so! She would spend so much time on it, and that still means a lot to me. Unfortunately, my sewing skills are limited, so my kids will have to settle for Target specials.
Anyway, Happy Fall everyone! What is your favorite season/holiday?
Fall is my absolute favorite! It brings back memories of walking to classes in AU on game day weekend with the great breezes and sunshine. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. I love cooking with my family (and now my girls love to help). I love getting together as a family and of course the great shopping the following day.
I love the Fall for many reasons....cooler weather, football games (not that I'm a football junkie- I just like to watch them), wearing sweat shirts without getting hot or too cold, and the clear crisp blue skys- and smelling the fresh air (especially after it gets cool). Christmas is my favorite time-- only because I have a little one to buy for and watch his sweet little eyes light up when getting his gifts...and just the cheer fun of giving others gifts-- it's a lot of fun for me!
Fall - crisp crisp fresh apples from the tree, grown only in the way New England-New York State air can make them. Yum. but I also enjoy Spring, Winter and Summer in that order.
Haha, true! I would have used the laundromat in Jacksonville to dry our clothes, but they tore it down a few months ago to build a Walgreens! Luckily I have nice parents & friends who let me use their dryer. =)
Halloween is the BEST! I actually just told my doctor I wanted him to induce me that week so that I could be home with the baby and not miss halloween!
Thanks for your prayers and support. I am looking forward to getting all of the testing done and overwith and getting to the bottom of things. I just hope the doctors can figure it out!
Several of you had wondered if I was O.K since I have not posted in over a month. I am fine, just busy! The anniversary party went extremely well. I told my parents if they made it to celebrate 60 years that I would take them to dinner! It was worth all of the hard work, though!
I am having a hard time believing that it is almost time for school to start. Big boy will have one more year and then he will be in kindergarten. I am having a hard time believing that! They grow up so fast!
Oh I know! Putting them in kindergarten is such a big milestone. It really makes you wonder where those precious baby years went flying off to. But then when he comes home so proud and strong from that first day of school looking so grown up and cute, that's a wonderful feeling too, and the start of a whole different chapter in life. :)
I already called every store in Alabama that sells Amanda Remembered. Nobody has it. There is one online for $68, but that defeats the purpose. My sister-in-law said, "Can I just buy it for you?" ha.
I totally understand about being busy...summer time seems to always be busy- even when kids and relative aren't in school! So is your big boy going to preschool anywhere? I can't believe he will be in K next year either- they do grow fast! Hope you guys have another great year together before he's off to school. But, I know when he's in school- you'll have a good time with your baby girl-- "just the girls". Still I guess it's bitter sweet, huh!? Love you! ♥
Thanks. I've tried once before- but William wasn't ready. I think it's more me that wishes and wants him to be ready- but I shouldn't push him, or should I? I've heard both goods and bads to doing both!! Anyway, I hope you all have a great time down there-- I wish I was still there!!! Have fun and be safe! ♥ ya!
yes, I guess that's just the circle of life. And it's way bittersweet! Are you guys still at the beach? If so, hope the weather has been good for you....please email us some pictures if you take any of your kids there. And of you and Chris too. I'll email you some we took last week! ♥ ya!
As of this Saturday that is how long my parents will have been married! We will be having a reception for their friends and family to help them celebrate. Overall, I would say they have had 50 very happy years. They have been such great examples of what a christian marriage should be like. They have been great parents and grandparents. I pray that they will have many more years to serve God and enjoy each other.
BTW- pray for me that I will still have some sanity left after the party is over!!
I know how much stress it is after planning my mom's surprise party last month! Sorry we won't be there but I know it will be great and they will appreciate it! The invitations looked fabulous!
50 years! Wow, that is very impressive. Especially in this day and age. And to still be happy together is so wonderful. It seems to be so rare anymore that couples stick together and work through their marriages, everyone just gives up. So, it's so refreshing and it gives us hope to see the older couples hitting these milestones and letting us know that it CAN be done, just as God intended it for it to be! :) Have fun with the party! I hope you don't work yourself too hard, you'll need a vacation when it's over. :)
Congrats to your parents. I didn't know they had been married that long either. Chris and I planned a 60th wedding anniversary party for his grandparents last November- and yes, it takes a lot out of you. I know your parents will be very appreciative of all the hard work you put into making that day very special for them. Let me know how it turns out- have fun! We miss you guys!
- the weather in Central Alabama has been beautiful this spring! We have actually had some warm days and cool nights. Sometimes it seems like we go straight from winter to summer around here! I am so glad we have had more spring like weather this year.
-picking strawberries! Strawberries are not my favorite fruit, but I sure love picking them! I have already been to the starwberry farm twice this year and have picked the biggest, sweetest ones you will ever eat! I think one reason I like to pick anything is just the simple fact of being able to see where what you are eating comes from! I also spent a lot of time as a child gardening with my granparents, so I guess it brings back good memories. My big boy now has a garden with his Papa, so I guess the tradition continues!
-Shopping! I always enjoy shopping for spring and summer clothes, but this year has been a real treat! I usually leave the stores mad that I couldn't find any shorts or skirts long enough to wear. Not this year! I have found really cute LONG shorts at Target. Keep in mind I am pretty short, so finding shorts for taller woman might be harder! Thankfully you can still find plenty of capri pants, too! Add to my shopping pleasure the fact that I have a one year old little girl to buy for......FUN FUN FUN.
-Thunderstorms (as long as they are not dangerous!) I have always loved to hear a thunderstorm. We have been blessed with plenty of rain this season and I have enjoyed it. Of course the down side is that there has been some pretty bad storms that has caused damage, but this reminds me of the power of God.
-Time with friends. It seems in the last few weeks and months I have been blessed to be able to spend time with lots of my friends. I am so thankful to have good Christian friends to spend time with.
So, I hope that all of my pleo friends have had an equally exciting and fun spring. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. One downside of all the rain.....two huge lizards in my basement! Luckily I called reinforcements to help me get them out....they shouldn't ever come back again, if you know what I mean!
What have been some of your favorite things about spring '08?
I love the weather too! Seeing all the pretty flowers and smelling the freshly cut grass. Chris and I celebrated our 8th year wedding anniversary yesterday, so I love it because of that too! Time with friends are very precious indeed...and I love to hear the sounds of little ones playing in the yard-- especially when they are laughing! Spring and Fall are my two most favorite seasons! Spring gives life and Fall gives color! Happy Spring!
Where do you go to pick strawberries? I've wanted to for the past 3 years!!! But Rachel and I have settled by going to the Farmer's market (to make jam).
I love spring too! I love being outside and all the fun things that come at the end of the school year. I've been able to go fishing at Oak Mountain two days with some of my kids, and we had Field Day Monday. Those are much needed days at the end of school!
Thanks for your kind words, that really meant a lot to me. You have always been a good friend and I miss us being able to get together. I hope all is well with you and the family. Please tell Chris and your parents we said Hello! Have a great weekend. ♥
I would do that, but they are going to be really strict during this "trial" period...we have to work the same hours every day (no taking shorter lunch breaks to leave early and no coming in later and leaving later, etc.). I requested Fridays as my off day (and I got it), so I will just have to stick with the 6-5 for now.
Dr. Charles Hudson. Jeff would love another child. I don't think I can handle it mentally or physically. We have been told over and over again the past few years that our ability to get pregnant on our own was very slim and that I was already in menopause. I just want some relief and I'm ready to get past this and to move on with life. Maura is better. Still not my normal Marmar, but she's getting there.
Thanks girl. Yeah, so far, being 30 has been no different than when I was 29. I guess it just makes me think of having kid number 2 sooner-- just so I'm not 60 by the time they go off to college....but I guess there could be worse things than that! Hope you and the family are doing well. Tell everyone we said hi. I miss you guys! ♥
Thank you, I appreciate it. I am so ready to get this surgery over and behind me. I am really ready to move on to bigger and better things! I hope you are enjoying summertime. :)
