As I sit here writing this, I still can't believe it. My sweet little baby boy turned 4 years old today. When I look at him I still see the sweet chubby cheeked baby with a big toothless grin peeping out from behind a pacifire plugged into his mouth.
He has always been a mamma's boy and still is. My constant shadow. He is always stealing kisses from me any way he can get them. He'll smooch on my hand or on my arm when I'm not looking but my most favorite of all are the big, wet, sloppy (and very loud) kisses I get on my cheeks multiple times a day. Dallas is very particular about his goodnight kisses to me. He won't settle down and go to sleep without kissing each cheek twice, then a hug and then two more kisses on each cheek again. Plus, it never fails that within 5 min. of his lights being out he comes running out of his room to find me for just two more kisses.
He is such a joy in my life and I have cherished every moment I have been blessed with.
I'm sure that some of you may have noticed the nice bright red nose I have been sporting since Wednesday morning. Last Saturday, Larry and I were in Knoxville for the UT football game. I did get a little bit sunburned on my nose and cheeks but it wasn't bothering me so I really didn't pay any attention to it and by the next day the redness was pretty much gone. Well, I woke up Wednesday morning with a pretty nice sized blister that had formed on my nose over night. I don't have any other explanation for it other than the sunburn I had gotten on the Saturday before. I'm beginning to wonder if the medication I had been on for several weeks after I got out of the hospital with pneumonia has anything to do with it. I seem to remember that one of the side effects was a sensitivity to sun exposure. I dunno....I've been of the medication for a while now but should it still affect me??
Anyway, we celebrated Aimee's birthday with the family tonight. Larry's mom, my parents, Mark, Eli and Jordan Rasmussen came over. It was pretty low-key but Aimee enjoyed herself anyway.
On this day, November 12, 2002, our Princess, Aimee was born at 2:17 PM. Weighing in at 8lbs. 3oz. and 20 inches long with a head full of black hair.
Here she is on the day she was born:
Here she is at the age of 4 mos.
Here she is at 2:
It is so hard for me to believe that my little girl is already 6 and growing up so fast! She is such a joy with her bubbly personality, quick wit and an amazing ability to make a new friend everywhere she goes.
Today I will be working on cupcakes for Aimee's Kindergarten class to enjoy at snack time and she'll get the Minnie Mouse cake she requested on Saturday when we gather with family to celebrate.
I can't believe she's 6 either! Where did all that time go? She is such a smart little girl and blows me away with the things she does. I remember the day she was born too. I was there and was so happy that I was. Of course if you were to look at a picture of her mama at this age you'd think it was the same child. She is Anna made over.
Wednesday night, when I was going to my classroom, she came jumping to me saying, "I'm six, can you believe it?! I'm six, I'm so hapeee!" I thought that was so cute, and funny! HAPPY BIRTHDAY AIMEE!!!
We had a wonderful fall afternoon. After being cooped up in the house all day changing out summer and winter clothes and re-arranging bedrooms Larry and I decided to take the kids out for a treat and then a walk at the park.
We ended up at Sonic and we all enjoyed chilli cheese cony dogs, corn dogs, tots and onion rings and washed them all down with Cherry and Cranberry lime-aids.....YUM!
After that we headed down to the park near our house to walk the track around the lake. While there we discovered that the little hiking trail the parks and rec. dept. has been working on for a couple of years was finally open so we decided to take a little detour. It winds its way around through the woods and is about a mile long. There are all kinds of nature exhibits along the way and even a wildlife viewing area. We all thouroughly enjoyed ourselves, especially when it started to get dark half way through the trail. I would definitely love to go back and walk it again during the day time.
On the way home we stopped at the Racetrack for a night cap. Larry and I got cappuccinos and the kids got hot chocolate. While in the van Dallas treated us to his version of a spooky ghost story (which we all had to act scared about). It was so cute listening to him. I've never heard him tell a story that he has made up before. When we got home Aimee had us all gather around her in her room so she could have her turn telling a spooky ghost story. I was fortunate enough that I had my camera with me so I could get it on tape. Here it is for you to enjoy.........
man that sounds like a spankin' good day. I couldn't watch all of aimee's scary story, but props to you for the spooky soundtrack and from what I saw, this story was going to be pretty amusing.
Tell her it was very scary! Almost as scary as cleaning out Lindsey's room today. I have a Halloween sweater for Amiee that I think Lindsey worn once. It goes great with the story.
I saw your eye cake and it's awesome! I just wanted to ask you about the baking time. I'm using a pyrex bowl for the body of a ladybug cake next week. How long did you bake your cake?
Thanks. I hope it is. I am watch TJ and Treyvon starting at 7 am so it has to be a good day. In 15 minutes there will be a birthday girl right? Or do I have the wrong day?
Well, as you know, we went to the fair down in Perry on Saturday. We had a ton of fun and ate way too much fair food.
In years past when we have gone to the Perry fair we have gone on the second weekend. This time around we were there on the first weekend. The animals that we were used to seeing at the fair were not there and won't be there until later this week. So we missed the dairy cows, pigmy goats and pigs.
I was excited to, once again, check out the decorated cake entries but was sadly disappointed when we got there. There were a couple of really neat ones in the novelty division like a 3d sea turtle and a 3d jet sitting on top of an American flag but the others were not all that great. Larry kept telling me I should have entered one because I would have gotten a blue ribbon. I promised I would definitely do one next year. Now, I just have to come up with a cool idea.
Here are some pics from the fair:
Cera is all by herself way up there in the orange shirt:
Great pics!!! I intend on going one of these years! I love all the animals, too, as stinky as they are. ;-) You HAVE to enter a cake next year- you would win hands down. I hope you're feeling better.
