Just a thank you and a plea of persistence to those of you who have known about Mr. Berthold and have been praying for him. For those of you who don't know whom I'm referring to, you can visit "coulter" 's page (I know, I'm so disloyal to Pleo for not figuring out how to link his name, sorry). Coulter has written a very nice tribute to Mr. B and has explained his situation since the Thanksgiving Day stroke very nicely. I do believe he had a momentary spark of improvement with leg movement Sunday pm, but I do not know how that has carried over to today. They are hopeful for him to get a room in a less-critical unit today or tomorrow. Please continue to pray that Mrs. B will have the energy adn stability to care for him and that Mr. B will be able to accept the new lifestyle that may be coming, but also the blessings that may come with it. Thank you for being faithful saints that the Lord lends ear to!
The group I worship with in New Salisbury, IN will be hosting a gospel meeting with Scott Smelser this week. In our less-than-traditional likeness, we will be meeting this Wed (12/3) through Sun (12/7).
Wed- Sat nights at 7:30pm
Thurs- Sat mornings at 10:30am (Sat's will be at the Cooks' home with pitch-in to follow)
Sun at 9:30 and 5:30
If you need directions or have any questions, just let me know. Please pass this info along to others. Unfortunately 3 of the 4 days I work this week are Thurs-Sat. :/ I do hope you can make it though! Let's all be shining our lights bright this week...
These are the funniest things I heard over this Thanksgiving and they still have me laughing. Thought you might enjoy as well? Please share your funny memories from this more-than-abundantly-blessed week...
While discussing how addicting M&M's can be, my co-worker says, "Yeah, once I get started on those things it's just like eatting candy!!"
My Dad welcoming me home (which I semi-frequent since they live 15-mins away), says, "Make yourself at home!" in all seriousness. Thanks, Dad, I apprecaite it.
My cousin's little girl Molly, who is two, told everyone, "Uncle Nate is afraid of me." And our good-bye went something like, (me) "See ya later alligator." (Molly) "I'm not an alligator, I'm a bumblebee!" Oh yeah, how could I have gotten that one wrong??
While Dad is telling us that he has a white t-shirt on under his sweater instead of a wife-beater, my Meme (his mom), says, "Oh, oh, he must have a shirt on that says "Wife Beater.'" (in her very sweet tone of course)
Sigh Yes, those may have been funnier in person, but they sure do keep me smiling. Hope your memories bring you joy over and over. What an amazingly wonderful God we serve that He would create our minds in such a way to allow one event to bless us over and over.
We're going to Tn on Friday for the weekend. What are you working this week? Maybe if you have an evening free we can get together. I will probably need to run my computer back to Oxmoor Monday or Tuesday and will need to pick it up that evening or the next. If you are off any of that and would want to ride along that might be fun.
Haha! There's nothing like the funny sayings! My neice wanted her mom to rev the engine on their truck to show Uncle Stephen their truck can be louder than his truck! Kids are so cute! Glad your Thanksgiving was joyful!!
1) Between the ages of 14-17, I wanted to be all the following when I grew up: a ROCK star, a dance choreographer for music videos, a firefighter, a police officer, a professional mourner (not in a dark kind of way, but in an "oh, poor guy didn't have any family, how sad" kind of way), and/or join the army. Thankfully God quickly surrounded me with good women to show me my real calling and then made my body weak enough to not qualify for most of the above (yes, I'm sure that was a blessing in disguise!).
2) I dance in my car and listen to my music so loudly that I have the roll the windows down. Yeah, I'm sure other drivers either think I'm a weirdo, spastic, or dangerous. I'd like to think I'm none of the above.
3) Someday I will own a gun. Maybe a Honda motorcycle, too.
4) If it can't be made (baked/cooked) from scratch, it doesn't get made at all.
5) Over a week's time, I spend an average of 20minutes or less per day getting ready. Maybe this is why I'm single? (If I can't a multi-task job, then it gets little or no attn at all.)
6) I'm coming to the realization that my health my stifle my ability to finish school or ever run a full marathon (I've run the 1/2 marathon twice). This is a harsh reality for me.
7) I always have my golf clubs and PINK fishing pole in my backseat, just in case I actually have time to do either (it's been twelve months and counting though!). I also keep a variety of tools, misc auto fluids, bottled water, food and Bibles for the homeless, frisbees, phonebook, running shoes, flip flops, and a sleeping bag (in the winter) on the passenger's side of the backseat and trunk. Amazingly enough, I have room for riders, too!
8) I'm on my second job that "requires" certification which I do not have, but have been hired nonetheless. I am convinced this is God's mercy upon me, especially considering #6.
Good thing that stops with 8, I'm sure there are plenty of other "unknown facts" that would sufficiently qualify me as a weirdo; but you already knew that... :)
:) -> #1 sounds like me. Always wanted to be an architect, then also in tha background, a singer, teacher, historian, and one of those free lance helpers that goes from place to place doing construction ect.
I'm sorry, I just got your message. So, I guess since it's monday, I'll have to put it in that I don't think I'd make it. Anyway, the "black -tie" dinner, how formal are we to dress - meaning for us girls.
Fall Feast...it was great! One of the girls here organized it all for the widows/older single people. There was a group of us girls/ladies helping and we each had something to do. Several people each made a dish; one provided decorations; I made place cards and provided coffee/tea, etc. It was fun and the elderly folks loved it!
no I haven't "roped" him into visiting, although I think he stays pretty busy with his full time preaching in Longview, TX. Good to hear from you, I miss getting to see you. Hunter is adorable and getting bigger. Caden & Jenna are adorable also and Joseph should be here in about a month.....Not much else going on...what's up with you?
Girl, you look great in that picture so no I will do no more editing. :)
The rice recipe is in the recipe group. It's a public group so you should be able to follow the link from my blog.
The potatoes are super easy. Chunk the potatoes, he peels his, I like the peel so I leave it. Toss in some olive oil. Then sprinkle with salt, cheese and any spices you might like. Bake at 450 degrees until soft and golden brown. This is an nice alternative to fries. Yum!
Marshall and Jennah went and neither had read the book. They followed most of it. There were a few things that they left out that probably didn't effect things a whole lot but knowing them helped. I would still recommend going.
So, I started my training this week at the hospital. Days one and two were basic new hire stuff (paperwork for INSURANCE-THANK YOU LORD, retirement- whoa, etc, and testing). My hired title is Intensive Care Unit nursing assistant and unit secretary. It's a combined position and I will work 7p-7a three nights a week (yep... four days off a week!!). Right now I am training on twelve-hour days (for four weeks) in another unit where my duties are individualized, so day three started training as a nursing assistant. Day four was fantabulous! I had remembered all the things from Wednesday, therefore was already on my own a lot (taking out IVs, doing electronic med records, discharging patients, feeding patients, answering call lights, and some less desirable but necessary things that are also a joy to do for those who can't do for themself!), which was very exciting. Day four was also a glasses and pony-tail day for me since I was adjusting to the getting up at 5:30am, the twelve-hours on my feet, and still taking care of Kay for 60-hours last week. Well low and behold, I must look like Sarah Palin on my lazy days (which is QUITE the compliment in my opinion.). A patient told me I looked familiar, but she couldn't figure out from where... "oh yeah, you look like Sarah Palin." An associate continually called me VP all day and begged to be my secretary. A patient's son told me "your picture is on the cover of People magazine," pointing from across the room. From then on out, most patients' families and associates were agreeing. It was VERY funny to me. Really, I think when people work twelve-hour days and patients are confined for so long that anyone can look like anybody at any given time. :)
Nonetheless, thank you to those of you that have prayed for a more stable job for me and insurance, and thanks be to God for hearing and answering! Thanks too, for being interested in my life and for wanting to know how things have gone this week! Love to all of you... keep up the good fight!
Congrats on the new job! I know how wonderful it can feel to have that prayer answered. And, it sounds like God brought you the perfect job for your skills. Annndddd....I agree with Trevaesa...I think you are much prettier than Sarah Palin too. :)
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
I've been called heavenward; this I know for sure.
The rest of my life is just details and uncertainties, not my "calling."
Janice has Simon's kids and is taking them to the fair. She invited mom. I've gone to the fair every year for the last 10 or so. I was sad because I was going to miss it this year but hopefully I will get to come up!
now, i'm just a crazy lady. :) here's a shout out to everyone... trust in God's timing and never give up! (note to self: I should start another prayer journal of prayers and then go back to fill in God's answers... even if it takes a while!)
Yeah, I may go a bit shorter in the front but I still want a little length there. I don't mind it stacked a little bit but I don't want it quite as much as the second picture.
I have decided when we will leave. In theory we could leave as early as Thursday at 1 if we have our drafting work done. M doesn't have classes on Friday. It just depends on how our week goes with work. How would that work for you? We could possibly do something Friday.
things are goin pretty good...almost done with school (last semester) and i've got an interview with the agency i want to work for the most on tuesday. how about yourself, how are you doin? next time you come down, let me know so that we can hang out!
It's going okay, nothing major or exciting just really busy. The funny thing is you're just in the other room. It's 9:24 and you are just now leaving the fishers. :) Have fun at you're new job.
