This evening, I accidentally ran over my dog. After my dad and I sat at the vet for a very long time and paid a load of cash that we canNOT spare at the moment, my brother called and asked my dad to come be with him in Dallas (my mom is already up there helping with Cary and Amanda's kids). I can't blame Cary for that - who wants to go through pain and surgery without family members? So, my dad is leaving first thing in the morning for Dallas. I had to ask Shane to take off early tomorrow so we can use his truck to pick up the dog, post-op. My car cannot carry a big dog, especially a dog that needs a large, flat space to lay. However, I have a feeling that everything will pan out.
So,
please pray for Cary's surgery tomorrow.
please pray for my dad to have a safe drive.
please pray for Amanda and that she will have peace of mind through all of this.
please pray for my mom, who is keeping babies right now.
I have seen Smoke Signals. I would like to read his books for adults, too. I've only read Absolutely True Diary and it's for teens. He's awesome though.
Actually it is because I really want to get my thesis finished before the baby comes! I'm not sure if it's going to be possible, though, because it's been harder and harder to put in a full days work.
ya, it can be a really rewarding job and then in can be extremely frustrating and sad. Sometimes you have to have some really thick skin to be able to deal with some people. Sorry to hear about your dog. I hope it heals up quick.
Grr I wish I had gold so that I could explain to you how well I understand what you are going through. Though few people said much to me about not getting married, too many others made their intentions all to perfectly clear. The day after though, it all seems to be meaningless. :)
Things I wish would go away:
-this cold I've had for 4 days
-political discussions
-wedding expenses...the only thing in my dowry is an old, deaf and obese English Springer Spaniel*
-awful cavity I have that cannot be fixed until I get some insurance or assurance - whichever comes first
Things that can stay:
-weekly ritual of eating Chinese food on Wednesday and Sushi on Friday
-Goldie Hyun(dai). At least until she's paid for. Then I want to trade her in for a 2-door hatchback Accent**
-Express Editor Pants
-PBS and everything affiliated with it
*Today I had to perform another 'death check' on Dollar. I pulled into the driveway where he was sprawled out, fast asleep. Well, the wind was flopping an ear and a paw, so this time I really assumed he was dead (I mean, who wouldn't wake up if the wind was moving parts of your body?). Nope. After 3 strong shakes he popped open an eye and slowly creaked to a standing position, pressing a dry nose against my hand. Poor puppy =/
Every Sunday morning on Houston NPR, they play a capella selections from Saint Paul Cathedral Choir and the Westminster Abbey Choir. The voices are so beautiful that it gives you chills. Then, on the drive to church, I listen and mentally play along to Will Shortz's show. Anyone else love his crosswords?
I decided that for Chirstmas I would like a giftcard to buy books and a few magazine subscriptions. Boring, right? What kind of present would you like for the winter holidays???
Man, I gotta say props to the people who are publicly ripping me apart on Pleonast. Just under a month ago, I was whining about how people usually have hidden their criticism of me under the guise of private comments. Some of that complaining has been mitigated! Its not being torn down that makes me sad; it made me sad that people acted ashamed of what they had to say.
Anyway, I'm starting a unit on Huckleberry Finn at the end of this week. I'm excited because I went from hating this book to becoming extremely fond of it. My favorite thing to do is discredit the thought that its a racist book and dig out the fact that Twain was way ahead of his time when it came to racial equality. But of course, in English, there aren't any wrong answers, and even fewer right answers.
Is it the 5th of November yet? I need to blow the dust off of V for Vendetta.
Actually, I've never said anything about you before tonight. And I'm not actually saying anything about you now. Take it as you will, I'll leave you alone.
Oh, while you're at it play some Rush, i find they have have a better Tom Sawyer. lol jk. I watched V for Vendetta all the way the other day and i loved it. nothign like good old rebellion haha
i had a fabulous english teacher in high school who taught huck finn. it is one of my favorites!
and i am horrified that people can be so rude to other humans on this site. sheesh!
He said it in a rather offensive manner that I wasn't able to recreate. I, too, believe that women need to have their own thing (sort of dual purpose?) and be capable and able on their own. The way he said it made it sound like there was not a woman in the world (out of the LDS), or rather a couple in the world who took to a Christianly view of marriage. Yet there I was right in front of him. :) Nothin wrong with leaning towards British.
When America gets what it is asking for and Obama does everything to us that he has promised, I don't want to hear you whine. When America turns toward communism and the government tells you what to do and when to do it, or when they tell you how many kids you can have and what gender, I don't want to hear you whine. When Obama tells you that you can't be a Christian, I don't want to hear it. You support him, deal with it.
And I never said you were going to hell for voting for Obama. That is up to God (and I'm not saying that would be His decision either). All I can say is that I wouldn't want to stand before Him having supported an abortionist.
Haha, yeah. Go ahead and stereotype! You probably think I'm from New York and don't shave my armpits, too. It's cool. You've said nothing that I haven't heard (and disregarded) before.
What was I tossing in your face? I said nice parallelism in your speech. I can't get my 11th graders to write that for nothing. Maybe I'll bring your comment in as an example tomorrow.
