(This is Fact and Fiction) I have seen the movie Black Hawk Down and it very realistic. The movie has no fiction or hollywood except for some of the characters. It started in 1993 when 19 Black Hawk helicopters and 20 little birds headed for the city of Mogadishu, Somalia. On the ground 6 Humveys and 2 trucks were heading for the city. Upon reaching the city 160 Rangers deployed believing this would be a easy job. What was supposed to be a 59 minute raid turned into a firefight lasting 20-21 hours. In this battle 19 american soldiers would be killed and over 10 wounded. The Rangers succsessfully captured the enemy second in commands. What the Rangers and Marines did not know was that the enemy were waiting for them. The turning point in the battle was when a RPG hit one of the Black Hawks. Immediatly the Somalians and the Rangers converged on the crash site. The Rangers got there first but were surrounded after gaining a perimeter around the helicopter. A couple hours later another Black Hawk was hit by a RPG, this also went down and only the pilot was alive when it hit the ground. Requesting permission two Delta Force teams were let down. One helirepled to the other crash site and went there. Two Delta Force Snipers were let down to crash site 2 these men with the pilot held off the hordes of Somalians until thier ammunition was gone and both were dead. The pilot was captured by the warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. The two snipers SFC Randall Shughart and MSG Gary Gordon were awarded the Medal of Honor (posthumously) for bravery. Finally being able to get out of the city the Rangers and the wounded went back to base. When ordered to not leave anybody behind these men were almost and could have be wiped out. The Somalians were from then on left to the warlord. So ended the Battle of Mogadishu.
I am already finding out what college to go to. I hope to Major in History and join the Basketball team of MSU. MSU Bulldogs beat Kentucky by 7 points and STOMPED all over Ole Miss winning by 20 points having 88 to 68. It was awsome watching on TV Jamot Gordon sending a NoLook Pass to Charlie Rhodes. Sadly the team was beaten by Arkansas best team. That team is better then MSU but up to that point MSU Bulldogs had 9 Straight wins. AWSOME! I love MSU (no disloyalty meant to Penn State)but I am for MSU.
