This week we had BEAUTIFUL weather. It reached around 70 degrees every day so far. We're expecting a cold front and possible snow this weekend. I'm ok with that. It is November.

The leaves have been pouring off our trees this week.. Last year it got cold so fast that the trees didn't have a chance to drop most of their leaves. That is probably why I feel like we have more leaves on the ground this year. A sea of leaves.

I'm glad we are no longer seeing political ads.

Nothing much going on.

duodamselMe too!

Our Maggie dog discovered leaf piles and that they are fun to jump in and created by long stick things.

Passage of time. 10-22-08 05:21pm EST
I found a roll of film in a drawer the other day and decided to bring it to Walmart for developing. I don't remember the last time we used a 35mm camera - at least 8 years. I was excited to see what was on the roll.

drum roll....

El Paso Zoo, June 9, 1998. Ten days after our wedding. We went with Craig's parents and 5 of the 6 nieces and nephews. The 6th, Dakota, was only about 6 weeks old at the time.

I believe all of them are now in or out of high school. Boy how time flies!
curlieHow fun!
duodamselSo glad they turned out being almost 10 yrs old. :) Thanks for sharing.

Observation. 10-17-08 04:27pm EST
I avoid political commentary. Craig and I discuss our opinions with each other but generally we don't want to get into hot debates with people about their views and choices. Anyway, this doesn't really have much to do with politics but more just regional differences (which stem from "liberal" versus "conservative" views).

As you may or may not know, we drive a Prius (hybrid). I LOVE the Pri, have never loved a car more. I'm a tree-hugger at heart but the main reason we bought the car was to save on gas. When we bought it several years ago the (larger than our other car) payment didn't balance out the savings on fuel but over the last year or so with gas in the $3-$4 a gallon range it has been a blessing!

We've had ours since Oct 2006 when we had to wait several months while it was being made because they were in such short supply. Over the last 6 months or so we've been seeing alot more Pri's on the road around town. Every day we see half a dozen on a trip around town.

Now to my observation:
When we went to northern Alabama to visit Craig's parents this spring we - literally - were the only Prius on the road in their town. From south of Nashville to Athens, AL we rarely (if at all) saw another one. Craig's family said they rarely see them around.

When we went to visit my dad a few weeks ago in Los Alamos, NM there were Pri's everywhere you turned. So many that we discussed how many there were. It seemed like every 5th car was a hybrid.

Anyway, I find the difference interesting. The relatively "conservative" area of northern Alabama versus the relatively (extremely) "liberal" area of northern New Mexico. Interesting.
deusvitaeIt's also become trendy-- "eco-cool."
duodamselThe last sentence hits the observation in that there is more pressure in some areas as well as it's considered not American made. (The GM plant down the road from here even has different pkg lot for brands other than the big 3 brands.) I think prius is a good choice for a young couple like yourselves. I was interested in my van being able to have ethanol (it's one year too old) until I learned more about what E85 does to the 'inards' and lack of good fuel mileage.....so I just lighten my loads and keep it tuned/tire pressure, etc. :) I'm just happy gas is going down.
debsherbsWe can't afford a hybrid, and wondered how much it increased your electric bill? Have you watched that? Let me know. And most Liberals have more money to spend.

A good day 10-15-08 12:24pm EST
Today I went to lunch with friends and Craig. More accurately, Craig's co-workers who are all female and many of them are my friends. Poor Craig has to endure "lady talk" whenever we go out to lunch as a group. :)

Afterwards I went over to Wal-mart for some light shopping. I don't know about you but when I go to the grocery store I have gotten good at remembering my "green" bags; however, when I go to Wal-mart it doesn't even occur to me to grab them. Duh.

Last night I made her meatloaf recipe and it was spectacular. Super simple and super tasty. I cannot wait for dinner tonight to have the leftovers!

I'm off to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. I've been saving up for the new version and anxiously awaiting it's delivery. (It came today just before lunch.)
duodamselW-M should have a green 'black' bag for $1 if you are in need. Our store has them. :) Have fun.
gkbakerI can't get into the bag habit. I never have them when I need them. I work at Walmart and have grown to loathe the plastic bags. They stick together or tear, or fall on the floor. Frustrating.
