Oh Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. O Lord, correct me, but with justice; Not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing. *Jer 10:2

For you, Beth. I see you've already seen some pictures that Nate has put up, but there may be a few new one's here.

Here's one more for ya: Photobucket
Ooops, didn't realize that was going to be so big, sorry!

heman_dan

The Colonel Harvey's is a nice touch. Where did you get that?

teelduo

What a lovely home you have. I LOVE the deck and fenced in backyard!!!!

purdy_2010

Woh, your house is gorgeous : ) I'm looking forward to seeing it in person : )

speedy62

Where's the shrine to the favorite aunt???

duodamsel

sigh. I'm very impressed and happy for you. I'm sure Ken loves his grill. ;)

duodamsel

You mentioned awhile ago maybe having to go to work outside the house.....is that still something you will be doing??

carolinagirl

Your home is beautiful!...glad to see a little of NC made it to IN :)

aikenape

Ok, this just isn't fair. Looks like you've lived in this house for years already. I'm still having trouble putting holes in the walls...mine are mostly bare. But, I love the house. It's beautiful. And, the peach tree would have sold me instantly even if nothing else looked nice (which didn't seem to be a problem). Glad you got settled so quickly.

duodamsel

YEAH!!! :)

valleryy911

thanks for the comment, i hadnt even thought about that part yet

cudger

The smudge says thanks for the birthday wishes. Love the home pics.. Hopefully we can visit someday.

crimmomx5

Beautiful home.....can't believe how "settled in" it looks already!

heman_dan

Yes, I was just thinking of that; I realized that they wouldn't see you in VA, yesterday at worship. I'm not with my family this vacation though.

photowench

Yes, we must! 'Twas much fun!!

duodamsel

I think you've gained some mighty nice things re: Mayberry from your living near NC. :)

duodamsel

.....i noticed the ol'e singin' fish. ;)

duodamsel

OH, that's right! I remember it now. I don't know why I thought it sung. LOL!

I took the test and I'm just below you in the 'High' range....1 cup before sleeping. Ha! no wonder I have trouble sleeping a full 'days' worth.

All I know is that they were talking about the Mystery Tour.

Well, Devin gets off work at 3, so probably between 4 and 4:30.

I got High on that test.

"Dravelin' down the road" 07-12-08 08:00pm EST

Today, we rose with the birds and headed to Louisville, KY for a Wild Game Cookoff. Of course, not before enduring some of the heaviest rain possible. (Montgomery Co is still under flash flood warnings this evening)

At the cookoff we met up with some friends from TN. It was good to see them even though we didn't stick around long, the heat was getting to me and making me a bit sick. Some of you may be thinking it wasn't the heat making me sick but the exotic animals I ingested. No, no, no, no, no! The wildest I ate was wild boar, and it was delicious! Next was an elk chili that was rather spicy, the rest were deer, turkey and fish selections. My favorite was a turkey stew (should have asked for the recipe). I'll admit, there were a couple choices that when I heard what they were before trying them made me decide I didn't want to try them. One was beaver and the other was antelope. Had I not known, I probably would have tasted them. Ken was adventurous and tried them all, the boys did pretty good too, but I think the heat was getting to them, also.

There also happened to be a Mexican market right there, so I was able to get my Adobo seasoning. I just can't find it here!

I hear the rumbling of thunder getting close, so I'd better be getting off of here and preparing for the next wave of rain.

ttfn

meditationis

You found Adobo? Where? Wait, Louisville. (sigh)

spicegirl255

Which CD's did you get??? I LOVE their stuff!

aikenape

explain to me exactly what "dravelin'" is :-)

my3sons

wow! that was some adventurous eating! You did better than I would! You can get Adobo seasoning at all the stores down here in TX! Let me know if you have trouble finding something and I'll send it to you!

valleryy911

sounds like a fun day except for the HOT (ps: thanks)

betsys

What a surprise to have the Stegalls with you at worship today. We miss them so much. If they show up again, tell them hello for us!

duodamsel

Sounds like it was a delish time and being adventurous is a good thing sometimes. Too bad about the rain.

aikenape

Awww...you got to see the Stegall's (yes, you spelled it right). We sure do miss them. I have been thinking about them a lot lately since it's been 2 years exactly since they moved up there. You people need to stop moving up north!

duodamsel

Articles???? was it on the news? I just got the phone call this afternoon. It's pretty bad. We were concerned it was going to continue to elevate after the 'for sale' sign was posted. The neighborhood is just too bad to do that. It seems it was kids as nothing was stolen...this time.

duodamsel

I'm glad you told me because I didn't think it worthy for news channel. Jim seems a bit better today but his back has been extremely painful and he's still in bed. He doesn't work until tomorrow so he's getting well deserved rest. Maybe that's just what he needs most....besides correct meds.

purdy_2010

Haha, me too : )

photowench

Oh, I fully intend to. I'm looking forward to it. :)

reagabismom

Hi how are you?I've been MIA for awhile but now I'm back! How is your summer going?

macbeth

Oh, you know our house, craziness around every corner! We're still trying to get adjusted to the new fella who came last month. I have a lot more paperwork to do now with him here. And I've been going nuts the past few days trying to get the pharmacy to get ALL of his medications filled. Along with that Jeff and his computer guys have decided to put a computer business in our quonset hut. That means we have to empty it!!!!! UGH!!! We spent almost all day yesterday out there moving stuff around and throwing stuff away. One of the computer guys has attended services with us twice now. And Jeff had a good study with another one a week ago. That has been very uplifting for all of us. I see that you seem to be settling in nicely. Can't wait to see some pictures of the new place!!

bookworm14

CRAZY! But good. =)

macbeth

Some of it is going to the shed(of course that meant we had to clean it out!) Some is going to the basement and some in the storage room off the den. Whatever is left will be sold/givenaway/thrownaway.

~~The last couple of days have found me prepping for the class I will begin teaching tomorrow night. I will be teaching the 1-4 or 5th graders. It's been a while since I've done this age, so I'm looking forward to it. We will be using a Use Your Bible workbook (remember those, Nancy?)as our "guide" for study, but I have extra things prepared to go along with it.

~~My dad stopped by last night on his way home from KY. He helped me figure out where the rafters are on my porch so I can hang a porch swing. I've always said that if you have a porch it needs a swing.

~~This morning while we were looking out the front windows, I spotted a baby rabbit eating some "greenery" out of my flower beds. He, I'm assuming it was male, was so cute. He then started to hope across the sidewalk and stumbled over one of the seams. He probably wasn't any bigger than the palm of my hand. I also saw a hummingbird come in seeking nourishment, so my feeder is now out awaiting her next arrival (this one was definitely female).

~~The boys are off to Lafayette for job interviews. I hope they both come home with employment under their belts.

~~Some friends from church stopped by and gave us some fresh tomatoes, new potatoes, and tender green beans. Can't wait to savor them.

Now, if I just had that swing hung to enjoy while snapping beans...

I don't think i am going to wear a belt mom

blessings_of_a_mom

That sounds wonderful, and that you have made it home already. Not that I am surprised. :)

duodamsel

Yes, I do remember and I miss it. I've wondered how your dad is doing.

Wild baby rabbits are left on their own very early.

Good luck with the jobs and that porche swing. I agree with you.

valleryy911

that all paints a nice summery picture :)

sils

what if i'm not wearing pants?

sils

i'm wearing shorts

my3sons

yummy! Fresh garden veggies! Hope you enjoy your swing soon!

betsys

There is nothing like fresh vegetables....almost makes me want to grow a garden.

spicegirl255

I will be over tomorrow to help you snap the beans. I love doing that. We shall sit on your swing and have tomato sandwiches for lunch. Agreed?

jdc

sounds really nice--so happy for you!

squeaky

I guess we could have figured that out if we had just thought about it long enough. There are only a few who would know that barbers used that. Tells our age doesn't it? Thanks.

duodamsel

Thank you. It's really flown by hasn't it?

squeaky

Yes we found our recipe. I had a good one but my granddaughter wanted the one we had at a potluck. Nothing else but that one. I can hardly wait. Yum, yum.

Journey to Metropolis... 07-05-08 10:19pm EST

This afternoon we decided to venture down to the Metropolis shopping complex. The boys and I really like the place, but Ken not so much. He is more of a traditionalist when it comes to malls, he wants them inside. Did find some bargains at Christopher & Banks, though, so that is always a good thing. Ken also found some ties on clearance, so he was able to update his selections. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived because the Stewarts were there also (the boys knew they would be, but we didn't). When we finished with our shopping we all met up and had supper together. Ryan also joined us when he finished his tasks for the day. He and my boys are still out.

Last night, they all set off some fireworks for us. It is so nice to live in a state that has decided to legalize fireworks again. It's about time someone had the sense to tell people if you get hurt, it's your own fault! Our little show was nice, and when the guys finished one of our neighbors arrived home and had his own display, so we got to enjoy that also.

It's late now, and I'm tired, so I think I'll head up to bed.

ttfn

spicegirl255

Rest well. Glad you had some cool fireworks to watch. As my poem reveals, I am a little kid when it comes to them!

captain_nate

No, your "boys" did not know that the Stewarts would be there. Your youngest might have had an idea, but I, your oldest, had no clue until Devin called me.

blessings_of_a_mom

Sounds like a wonderful weekend.

meditationis

Metropolis is quite nice. I've only been once but I liked the feel of it.

cyber_space_cadet

We rarely go to malls, but we've been to Metropolis a time or two. My friend and I went to the theater when it was first built. Something about that theater makes me feel like I'm in Disney World.

Glad you had fun. :)

purdy_2010

Oh, haha. My friend Brennon : ) He has a Frowny Mustache, so I call him Frowny Stache : )

duodamsel

Oh yes, the fireworks were great both the town ones in Bremen and the neighbors huge display across the street.

duodamsel

Where is Metropolis located...in Crawfordsville??

speedy62

Tell Ken that I got his message about the Williams sisters final. I don't really care for either of them so I didn't watch it. Although, between the two, I like Venus much better and was happy to see she beat Serena. Serena needs knocked down a peg or two. :) I did enjoy the Federer/Nadal final. I like the plucky little Spaniard. I'm happy Federer isn't dominating men's tennis.

betsys

I love Christopher & Banks! Glad you found some good buys.
