One of my coworkers and I will be flying out Monday morning to Salt Lake City then taking a 3+ hour drive to Vernal in an AVIS rental car. The plan is to travel all day Monday and be at the jobsite in Vernal all day Tuesday and most of Wednesday then drive back to Salt Lake City Wednesday afternoon and catch a 7PM flight back to Houston with a very short layover in las vegas. According to my flight schedule we will arrive back at Hobby at 12:55 AM Thursday morning. Apparently there was some difficulty getting the flight we wanted that might have been more of a direct route back home but then again someone else made the arrangements so I didn't get to choose.
I am a bit disturbed though, about a particular watermelon eating dinosaur I found on one of the websites about Vernal. See for yourself...
I actually pass by the Early Church of Christ on a regular basis when going through Brownwood. Early is a little community on the edge of Brownwood (in fact you don't really know where Early ends and Brownwood begins). I do know that the Early Church of Christ is quite liberal in more ways than one.
where are you? I thought everything was ok at home? are you heading out early for American Idol tryouts? Cute picture of the girls. how's the playing comeing along? Is there a secret code to see what's on the other side of the door? ;)
be sure and check Alan's and Steven Cuffle's blog for info about christians in Port Arthur / Bridge City area.
I got this email from her via the singing school email list.
Following is an excerpt from an email I received from David DeYoung,
who has attended Singing School for the past several years:
Bridge City was hit by IKE's storm surge as well as winds...this town
of nearly 10K residents has less than 20 homes in the city limits
that are NOT flooded.
As for my family, Joann and I had nearly 4ft of water in our home
(entire neighborhood), as did my Mother and my Sister's middle son
Bryan. Our homes are virtual skeletons of studs with a skin of brick--
-but the roofs are ok...nearly all possessions lost, including some
vehicles that were parked in driveways or garages. But our houses
are cleared and in the process of drying out thanks to so many family
members and friends who worked so many long hours.
My son, Chad cut his leg(11 stitches) while helping us at our house
and will be on crutches and off of work for a couple of weeks -
please pray for his recovery.
There were 6 more members(families) of the Mauriceville church that
had similar damage and destruction.
Others from Bridge City that worship at other congregations include
Chip/Linda Cappel, Shawn/Misty Cappel(Shawn had a heart attack on the
19th while cleaning out his house and had 5 bypasses on Saturday, the
20th), Troy and Christie Trahan, Gordon and Betty Pace, Jerry and
Maureen Wright, the Threadgil family, and Shanna Landry.(all flooded
w/3-6ft of nasty marsh mud and salt water---I can't describe the
stench that reeked the entire area-there is saltgrass and cane and
debris piled up like beaver dams everywhere.)
There are other Christians, neighbors, and friends here who have
major losses and are hurting as well---just don't have a list of all
the names.
Please continue to keep us all in your prayers - God is good and
spared our lives as we evacuated...and we know all that we possess
comes from Him and is for our temporary use while we serve Him here
on this earth.
Most of us came out fine we had 2 members with houses in seabrook that got 4 ft of water in them. 4-5 other members with moderate damage and the rest of us fared pretty well. How about the Eastside group.
I see your new picture, but your wife still hasn't posted. Next time, you have to put a deadline on her; Like, "I change the picture and you post within 3 days" or something like that. ,br>Very sorry to hear about those brethren in those areas. It has been wonderful to see how the brethren come together and help one another. God Bless.
